SYNCHRONIZING DYNAMICS AX WITH

MICOROSOFT OUTLOOK

One of the benefits of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 is it’s integration capabilities with all of the other Microsoft products. For example, you can easily set up your system to synchronize contacts, tasks and appointments from AX over to Outlook so that you have it while you are on the go.

In this example we will show how you can flag contacts to be synchronized and also set up the synchronization between your Dynamics AX 2012 client and Outlook.

You don’t necessarily want all of the contacts within Dynamics to be copied over to Outlook. To selectively move contacts from Dynamics AX over to Outlook, just select the ones that you are interested in and click on the Add to Microsoft Outlook contacts button in the ribbon bar.

Now the contacts are queued up for synchronization to Outlook.

The next step is to configure the integration points between Dynamics AX and Outlook.

To do this find the Microsoft Outlook Setup Wizard in the Home/Setup section of the menu.

This will start up the configuration wizard.

Select the User that you want to use for the synchronization.

You need to tell AX what profile you want to use within Outlook. The simplest option here is just to use the default profile.

Once you have selected the profile, you will be able to link AX to the contacts, tasks, and calendar folders within Outlook.

To do this, just navigate to the folders in Outlook.

Once you have linked the contacts, tasks, and calendar folders, you can tweak the synchronize logic for how far back and forward you want to look when moving the items.

Now you have set up the integration points.

Outlook

To synchronize over to Outlook, just select the Synchronize option from Home | Periodic | Microsoft Outlook Synchronization.

You can choose which folders you want to synchronize –or pick the whole lot.

That was easy.

Now you can access all of the information from Outlook.


Tasks & Calendar

Updated As Well

And also schedule your tasks and appointments through Outlook as well.
