OPERATING PRINCIPLEOPTIMIZATION AND NOISE CONTROL Heating needs of a building vary between the day and night, but also during the day-time depending on changes in the outside temperature, etc. and even from one place in the building to another, depending on the closure of thermostatically controlled cocks. Depending on network load loss, the electro-nically self-adjustable circulating pump makes it possible to adapt rotation speed in order to retain optimum efficiency, and maintain the lowest operating noise level.Adjustment of circulator data is automatic depending on the opening and closing of the thermostatically controlled cocks.
MANUAL ADJUSTMENT Parameterization of basic functions, i.e.: - ON/OFF, - control mode - ∆P constant ∆P variable, - and speed adjustment, - automatic adjustment on minimum speed.
Constant pressure (∆P). With this regula- tion mode, electronic control maintains the constant differential pressure of the circula-ting pump whatever the flow rate, depending on the predefined pressure instruction.
Variable pressure (∆P). With this regulation mode, the electronic control allows reducing the differential pressure (heads up to ) in case of flow reduction, depending on the predefi-ned differential pressure instruction.
Speed adjustment The speed may be adjusted manually to a constant figure between 850 and 2850 rpm. Automatic idling: The considerable develop- ment of day/night adjustment installations has produced hourly or thermostatically re-gulated boilers, but not by the adjustment of circulating pumps, which consume energy accelerating cold water circulation. The SXE/DXE control the speed of rotation at the temperature of the water conveyedand thus avoids this needless consumption. In fact, a significant reduction in water tempera- ture detected by a temperature sensor automatically commands the chan-geover of the circulator onto its “night” curve. This function gives a saving of 25% extra energy.
As soon as a rise in temperature is detected, the circulator falls back on its predetermined operating curve.
EXTERNAL CONTROL This control mode disactivates the control in the electronically-operated unit. - external adjustment of speed by 0 -10 V* signal,
- external start/stop*, - fault carry. The choice between operation in variable pressure or in constant pressure must be established depending on the load loss curve and specificity of the facility. As for the auto-matic idler, it is designed for night operation and for low loads. * except: SXE/DXE 32-40, SXE 40-25, SXE/DXE40-40, DXE 50-25.
DOUBLE CIRCULATORSEquipped with two IF (InterFace) units, the DXE benefits from the following extra functions:
Duty/stand by The flow requested is provided by a single pump, the other pump starting up in case of fault on first pump or after 24 hours of actual operation of the later.
Cascade operationAt minimum load, only the pump in service operates. The backup pump triggers when radiators request a higher flow rate. From this point (switchover point), the nominal speed of the two pumps increases synchronously in case of need. After 24 hours of actual operation, there is built-in (automatic) chan-geover of the master pump which becomes slave. This function increases energy saving compared to usual operation in parallel by avoiding numerous locking/triggering. (See working curves in cascade opposite).

OPERATING PRINCIPLE CURVES• Operation in ∆P constant
Electronic control maintains constant the dif-ferential pressure produced by the pump at the differential pressure value of Hn instruc-tion, up to the curve of operating data through the authorized flow rating.
• Operation in ∆P variable
Electronic control modifies linearly the diffe-rential pressure value between Hn and 1/2 Hn instruction to be met by the pump.Differential pressure value of H instruction in-creases or decreases with flow rate needed.
• Operation in automatic idling
This device enables making up to 25% ad-ditional saving as compared to operation in ∆P constant. When the heating facility reaches a certain low temperature, the circulator runs on a constant reduced speed until a new rise in temperature.
CONNECTIONS (+ IF MODULES)• Operation in synchronized cascade
Operation in cascade of a DXE fitted with two IF units. At equivalent flow rate, the circulator automatically uses the curve of least power. (Ex. : DXE 50-50 - ∆p-c - H n = 2m)

LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAYSymbol Description of the various operating modes
RPMX100
Normal operation: authorization of automatic changeo-ver to low load mode. Activation of low load mode takes place when the heating power needs are minimum (night time).
RPMX100
The pump operates in low load mode (night time de-crease) with minimum speed of rotation.
RPMX100
Interruption of automatic changeover to low load mode, i.e. the pump operates solely in normal adjusted mode.
RPMX100
The differential pressure value of instruction is adjusted on H = 9.0m
RPMX100
The pump is adjusted on a constant speed of rotation (in this case 1800rpm). (adjustment mode).RPM
X100
∆p-c adjustment : adjustment on a constant differential pressure.
RPMX100
∆p-v : adjustment : adjustment on a variable differential pressure.
RPMX100
The operating mode regulator disactivates adjustment of the unit. The speed of pump rotation is maintained at a constant value between 800 and 2800 rpm. Speed of rotation is adjusted internally using the rotary knob.
RPMX100
With the regulator mode activated, the speed of pump rotation is adjusted through the 0-10 V input. The rotary knob then has no function as instruction value indica-tion. (If P1≥500W)
RPMX100
The pump is ON.
RPMX100
