Swami Ramdev says that while allopathic system of medicine is symptomatic, the ayurvedic system of medicine is systemic. Ayurved Medicines work on the physiological systems like Nervous System Cardiological System Blood Circulatory System Digestive System Endocrine System etc and strengthen them

The diet also plays an important role in controlling obesity. To read more about ideal diet go to my profile by clicking kadwa. Click the link threads started by the user. Then go to the link 'Yogic Cure for Diabetes'. The other asanas described there are also good for controlling obesity.

Now last but not the least- Baba Ramdev has taken the Pranayam Techniques from the himalayan caves to the masses.

If the pateint does Bhastrika Pranayam for 5 minutes Kapalbhati Pranayam for 30 minutes (This is most effective for controlling obesity. If the patient wants to get rid of obesity soon Kapalbhati should be practiced in the evening also for 30 minutes.) Anulom Vilom Pranayam for 20 minutes Bhramari Pranayam for 2 minutes Udageetha Pranayam for 2 minutes he may not even have any need to take the medicines.

So pranayam is like a deep acting anti-miasmatic remedy that we have in homeopathy. But as two patients will do pranayam with different levels of sincerity there will also be a differential in what they gain.
