The design translated the traditional Chinese garden

design philosophy into a contemporary landscape

aesthetic appropriate to the modern architecture. The

outer garden area is open and grand, emulating the

long curving strokes found in the architecture.

The inner garden consists of a series of earth forms

that suggest rolling hills found at the juncture of

mountain and the valley floor. These bamboo covered

hills are landscape complements to the sculptural

abstraction of the buildings and create a green interface

between the hard walls of the buildings exterior skin.

The concept for the roof garden describes the journey of

water that collects high in the mountain top and flows

through a series of cascades down to the valley floor.
