What is the European Green Capital Award ?

An event who encourages cities to :- Improve the quality of life of their citizens- Reduce their impact on the global

environment

4 out of 5 European citizens live in cities

More than 40 cities are supporting the establishement of the Award (21capitals)

The E.G.C.W. was launched May 22, 2008

Candidates will be judged with :

- Their local contribution to global climate change

- their local transport- their waste production

and management

And about the winner ?

A panel of experts will select the winner on specific criteria

The winner will be a role model to promote best practicies in Europe
