Highlights

VHB was one of the first signers of the Council’s 100% Talent Compact, and is among 170 Massachusetts businesses leading the way to take concrete, measurable steps to eliminate the gender wage gap.

VHB is renovating and transforming its Watertown office into a state-of-the-art workspace. Green building principles incorporated into the design and construction include daylighting, low VOC-content, regionally manufactured materials with high recyclable content materials, and minimizing demolition and new construction whenever possible.

This renovation project will be an opportunity to relaunch our waste management program to further institutionalize our ongoing recycling and composting efforts.

VHB's second largest office took a major step in reducing its environmental footprint by eliminating the use of paper cups, opting for reusable cups and bottles. Aside from exploring ways to reduce waste, the Orlando team also ramped up its composting efforts, collecting approximately 80-90 lbs. of coffee grounds and filters each month.

“It was exciting to see several of the girls perk up when

I explained the many opportunities in the transportation

industry. Best of all, colleagues reported that the girls have

been applying what they learned.”

RVAgreen Wins 1st Place at Climate Protection AwardsThe Richmond Sustainability and Energy Management Program, RVAgreen, won first place for the Large City Category in the 2016 Mayors’ Climate Protection Awards. Students learned the various aspects and uses of STEM, including how all of our service lines work together to produce a final product. VHBers also provided career advice to the 16- and 17-year-olds who were considering their future study paths in college.

In addition to being named one of the region’s top corporate charitable contributors by the Boston Business Journal (BBJ), VHB also received the Building Impact Award. Through our efforts, VHBers helped generate $3,569 worth of donations, 225 hours of volunteer time and product donations for over 250 nonprofit partners throughout 15 Massachusetts communities.

Assessing Resiliency with the Narragansett IndiansThrough funding from the National Fisheries and Wildlife Foundation, VHB worked with the Narragansett Indian Tribe to conduct a vulnerability assessment of forest health, natural resources, and water resources on 2,000 acres of tribal lands in Rhode Island.
