WHAT IS WGS-84 SURVEYING AND OBSTACLE EVALUATION?
TheWorld Geodetic System of 1984(WGS-84)providesthe aviation industry with a standard coordinatereference framework for the Earth ensuring anaccurate databaseofinformationthatchartsallknownandmeasurablerawaltitudedata.Currently,thecoordinate origin of the WGS-84 information isaccurate to within 5cm.Thisinformationisessentialforallflightplanning,routedesignandcartographyrequirementsinaviation.
Current, up-to-date andaccurateobstacledataisnecessarytoensurethesafe,efficient movement ofaircraftinandaroundairportsandtheairspaceabove.ConstantplanningandfeedbackensuresthattheICAO Standards and Recommended Practicesareadheredtoandthatagivenradiusaroundanyairportremains clear of obstacles.
