Asking people to take my survey
Question 1
My survey seemed to be answered by 80% male and 20% female. This means I should tailor my film to the needs of a much larger male target audience.
Question 2
People seem to like sci-fi thriller, but due to our limitations I think we will be doing the next modal answer, action or supernatural.
Question 3
People like dangerous situations and tension and suspense. I’ll look to include a varied use of the popular results.
Question 4
People seem to like horror thriller over the other genres. This helps me make my film as I now know my target audience seem to like horror films.
Question 5
People feel like they relate to the characters of a thriller film. My characters will be teens, which caters to the target audience of 15-30
Question 6
People seem to not mind what gender their leading actor is. This shows us that people aren't really affected by the gender of their leading actor/actress.
Question 7
People seemed to favour New York as a place to set my film. I think this is because people are used to seeing new York in so many different films that it has just become the norm to have your film set there
Question 8
Music was the most popular choice here. I think this is because music is usually used to build suspension and tension within a film.
Question 9
Suspense is the modal choice here. I think that this is because people like to be kept on the edge of their seats waiting for something to happen.
Question 10
People seem to like good acting within a film. Although it is already apparent films need good actors, we still need to know if people don’t mind amateur acting.
Overall analysis
Based on the data I have collected, it is probable we will be doing a supernatural/action thriller film based in an urban area. We’ will try to focus on the suspense aspect of the opening to keep our audience engaged. Also, our actors will be ages 16-17, so the viewers feel like they can relate more to the on screen characters.
