Roles• Sitter
• Nursing Assistant/Sitter

Nursing Assistant/SitterRationale:
• Increased shortage of Nursing Assistants and Sitters place additional stress on staffing
• Nurse can transition expeditiously into this role with minimal orientation
• Provides enhanced relief to primary RN through the ability to perform additional care with patient based on needs and skill level
Training Commitment:
Sitter: Minimum
NA: Minimum (experience depend.)
Requirements:
• CNA (not required)
• RN (not required)
• BLS (not required)
• Tech
• Infection Prevention knowledge
RN-COVID-19 Screener/Tester
Rationale:
• Requires minimal training for RN
• Augments response to increased demand without internally needing to deploy current clinical staff actively working in the acute care setting
• Does not require knowledge of site increasing ability to move between sites based on demand
• Requires minimal to no knowledge of EHR
Training Commitment: Minimum
Minimum Requirements:
RN license in applicable state-dependent on role
BLS (not required)
Admission/Discharge NurseRationale:
• Admit/Discharge Process time consuming for primary nurse
• Relieves the primary RN to attend to competing priorities
• Able to move from unit to unit providing relief to multiple areas
• Does not require up to date clinical skills needed to function as a bedside RN
Training Commitment: Minimum->Moderate
Minimum Requirements:
• RN license in designated state
• BLS (not required)
• EHR access/proficiency in admit/discharge process
• Infection Prevention knowledge
Bedside ClinicianRationale:
Provides the most robust relief of the bedside RN and nursing team
May consider to deploy as:
• Break relief RN
• Transport RN
• Primary RN
• Medication RN
• Alert Nurse/Rapid Response Nurse (requires additional competencies)
Training Commitment: Maximum
Minimum Requirement:
• RN license
• BLS (not required)
• EHR access and proficiency in documentation or complete training prior to deployment
• Orientation to unit of deployment minimum of one shift shadow but team member and unit independent
