On behalf of the Director-General, and within the frameworkUNESCO/People's Republic of China (The Great Wail) Co-SponsoProgramme, I am pleased to inform you that the Government of theRepublic of China is offering seventy-five (75) fellowships for theacademic year for advanced studies in varied subjects for the ben 'Member States (see Annex I).

CO-SPONSORED FELLOWSHIPS PROGRAMME 2016-2017
With a view to promoting international exchanges in the field of educatio i, culture,communication, science and technology, and to enhancing friendship among peop es of theworld, the Governmentof the People's Republic ofChina has placed at the dispc IJNESCOfor the academic year 2016-2017, under the co-sponsorship of UNESCO, seventy-five (75)fellowships for advanced studies at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The; •• uwshipsare for the benefit of developing Member States in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America . irope mdArab region (see Annex I),
The fellowships, tenable at a selected number of Chinese universities, are . i jura ionof one year. These fellowships, which are in most cases to be conducted in Englis e offeredto senior advanced students wishing to pursue higher studies or intending u undertakeindividual research with periodic guidance from the assigned supervisor. B. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
(i) Be under 45 and holdat least the Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent, or theMaster Degree/above when applying;
(ii) English proficiency is required;(iii) Be not more than 45 years of age; and(iv) Be in good health, both physically and mentally.
C. PROCEDURE FOR THE SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS
All applications should be endorsed by the relevant Government body (theNational Commission or Permanent Delegation) and must be prepared n Englishwith the following attachments:

(iii) Notarized photocopies of diplomas and certificates, and school certifiedtranscripts of complete academic records (translated in ish whenapplicable);

(v) Two letters of recommendation (in English) by professors oi a sociatesfamiliar with the work of the candidate;
n) A study or research proposal containing no less than 400 words (i iof the post-graduate study to be undertaken during the candic.

D, SUBMISSION OF CANDIDATURES

Files which are not complete or which are received after the above deadline, is well ascandidates who do not fulfill the above-mentioned requirements, will not be taken intoconsideration.
E. SELECTION OF BENEFICIARIES
UNESCO and the Chinese authorities will select the seventy-five (75) mo; qualifiedcandidates. The National Commissions of the selected fellows will be duly ntormed byUNESCO.
Candidates not informed of their selection by 31 July 2016should consider that their applications have not been approved
F. FACILITIES OFFERED BY THE GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE'SREPUBLIC OF CHINA
(i) A monthly living allowance of CNY 3,000 for general scholars oi CNY3,500 forsenior scholars will be granted covering meals and pocketexpenses;
(ii) Tuition waver;
(iii) Accommodation: free university dormitory or accommodatior s jbsidy: ifthe host university requires students to live on campus, the u rsity willaccommodate scholarship students in university dormitory (usually twinroom); if the host university permits students to live off campus, theuniversity will provide monthly / quarterly accommodation subsidy:undergraduate students / master's students / general scholars CNY 700per month; doctoral students/senior scholars: CNY 1000 per month.
(iv) Comprehensive Medical Insurance** and Protection Scheme for ntt rnatio lalStudents in China.
