SUPREME BACKER ROD BACK UP MATERIAL FOR SEALANTS PRODUCT DESCRIPTION SUPREME BACKER ROD(PC 2135) is a closed cell polymer based foam filler material with a circular profile. It ensures stronger bonding of sealant with masonry, aluminium or other substrate and helps to maintain desired thickness of sealant at the joint's center. It does not bond with cold applied sealants. SUPREME BACKER ROD is used as back up to sealants to expansion joints and structural glazing systems. APPLICATION METHODOLOGYClean the joint making it free from moisture, dampness, oil stains and any type of loose aggregates. Fixing of masking tape is recommended on either side of the joint to ensure neat and cleanfinish of the joint. Compress SUPREME BACKER RODinto the joint and install it with a blunt probe or a plain-faced roller to force the rod to the desired depth before applying sealant. A template or a roller gauge may be used to control the depth at which the rod is to be placed. When installing SUPREME BACKER ROD, do not cut or puncture the surface skin and avoid excessive longitudinal stretching of the rod. Do not apply SUPREME BACKERROD as a backup material, where sealant is
0heated and applied at a temperature above +70 C. Rod diameter should be approximately 25% larger than the joint width
