Traditional letter and envelope appeal packages were no longer proving to be effective particularly with younger alumni. A new approach was needed. SUNYIT, established in 1966 by the SUNY Board of Trustees as the State University of New York Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome is New York’s public polytechnic. SUNYIT students pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees in technology and professional studies with an enrollment of 1900 full time plus 800 part time undergraduates and 600 graduate students. The Solution: Develop an annual strategic outline detailing both a coordinated mix of communication channels and sequencing of all communications. Initiate data modeling of the existing alumni database to identify most likely candidates to respond. Using findings from data analysis, increase engagement and response rates by providing more graphic rich, theme segmented and personalized formats. “We were very pleased with the tremendous improvement in our annual campaign results and the ease of execution and coordination.
