Message “Do No Harm” Rev. Brian Lucas, Pastor

BREAKING BREAD

The Great Thanksgiving

The Lord be with you.

And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them up to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

… And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven we praise your name and

join their unending hymn:

Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory.

Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

… And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in

praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ's offering for us,

as we proclaim the mystery of faith.

Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.

… Through your Son Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in your holy Church, all honor and glory

is yours, almighty God, now and for ever.

Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer (unison)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come,

thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread,

and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us;

and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Hymn “I Want to Walk as a Child of the Light” UMH# 206

1. I want to walk as a child of the light. I want to follow Jesus.

God set the stars to give light to the world. The star of my life is Jesus.

Refrain: In him there is no darkness at all. The night and the day are both alike.

The Lamb is the light of the city of God. Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus.

2. I want to see the brightness of God. I want to look at Jesus.

Clear Sun of Righteousness, shine on my path, and show me the way to the Father. (Refrain)

3. I’m looking for the coming of Christ. I want to be with Jesus.

When we have run with patience the race, we shall know the joy of Jesus. (Refrain)

Parting Blessing

Choral Blessing “Let There Be Peace on Earth” UMH# 431

1. Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me; let there be peace on earth,

the peace that was meant to be. With God our creator, children all are we.

Let us walk with each other in perfect harmony.

2. Let peace begin with me; let this be the moment now. With every step I take, let this

be my solemn vow: to take each moment and live each moment in peace eternally.

Let there be peace on earth, and let it begin with me.

ONLINE STUDIES:

ZOOM STUDY: MONDAY MORNING MOCHA

Mondays at 9 AM, Pastor Brian hosts a small group (via video Conferencing) during which they have a devotional, share God sightings, and chat about life. This group has no long-term commitment; come

one week or come every week, it’s up to you! Join us at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89950645095 Meeting ID: 899 5064 5095 Password: 016798

Three Simple Rules Pastor Brian will be doing an online study of the book "Three Simple Rules" (ties in with our sermon series) on Thursdays at 6:00 beginning on June 18th. Interested participants should register with the office or PB so you can get the materials.

Although Camp Penn has had to cancel summer camps, they still have a lot of work to do on buildings and grounds throughout the summer but without their usual staff. As a result they are in great need of volunteers to help them either a single time, or on a regular basis. Some of the work includes: lawn mowing, building cleaning and painting, power washing, and tree trimming. If you are interested in helping them out, please call Melissa Galla at 240-675-0113 or 717-762-2693 or email her at [email protected].

Continued guidance as we prepare to restart in-person

worship and ministries; patience and understanding of

church guidelines and policy changes; the ability to truly

listen and hear each other's different perspectives of various

issues in our nation. –P.B.

RECYCLING: Christ Church has recycling programs to help the environment. Don’t throw those old batteries, cell phones, ink cartridges, pull-tabs, or metal items in the trash. Bring them to the church so they can be kept out of landfills and recycled. We take items made of metal or with metal in it - including

electrical or battery operated appliances/items - large or small. (*Please note: We do not take TV’s, computer

monitors, tires, and stuffed or wood furniture.) We are grateful to this dedicated group of volunteers! For more info about our Recycle Disciples, please contact Bill Short or Bob Small.

SUSANNAH’S PANTRY: People come to Christ Church seeking immediate food help. We do not want to turn anyone away and we especially want to meet them as Christ’s hands extended. Our pantry is currently still OPEN – we are bagging groceries and handing them out to community members that come to the church. This is a faith-ministry ... as we give the food away to needy families, we trust God to supply yet more! You can help by donating food. We are currently only handing out specific items since we are bagging items and handing them out at the door. Some simple, non-perishable items that we NEED are:

MAC-N-CHEESE, SPAGHETTI NOODLES, AND CANNED FRUITS. Thank you for your donations and support!

Open: Monday, Wednesday, & Thursday from 10 AM – 2 PM

Ways to Give:

Your donations allow us, as the body of Christ, to continue ministering to the community

and the world. Without you, this would not be possible. Here are some options for you:

Mail checks to the church office (Christ U M C, 100 S Church St, Waynesboro, PA 17268)

If you use online bill paying through your bank, set-up the church as an account and have

your bank send checks at your request

Sign-up for First Fruits Electronic Funds Transfer (efts) by completing the form and

returning it to the Church Office. (Contact the Church Office for the form or find it online:
