Apostolic Greeting
La gracia del nuestro Señor Jesucristo The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
el amor de Dios the love of God,
y la comunión del Espíritu Santo and the communion of the Holy Spirit
sean con usetedes be with you all. All: And also with you.
Blessed be the holy Trinity, + one God,
the life beyond all death, the joy beyond all sorrow,
our everlasting home. Amen.
Almighty God, to whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and
from whom no secrets are hid: Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by
the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may perfectly love you and
worthily magnify your holy name, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in
us. But if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just will forgive
our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Silence is kept for reflection.
Most Merciful God,
we confess that we are captive to sin and cannot free ourselves. We
have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we
have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved
you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as
ourselves. For the sake of your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on
us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in
your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name.
Amen.
Almighty God, in mercy, has given his Son to die for us and, for his
sake, forgives us all our sins. As a called and ordained minister of the
Church of Christ, and by his authority, I therefore declare to you the
entire forgiveness of all your sins, in the name of the Father, and of the
+ Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

The Prayer of the Day The Lord be with you. All: And also with you. Let us pray.
Almighty Creator and ever-living God: we worship your glory, eternal Three-in-One, and we praise your
power, majestic One-in-Three. Keep us steadfast in this faith, defend us in all adversity, and bring us at
last into your presence, where you live in endless joy and love, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, one God,
now and forever. All: Alleluia!
You may be seated
THE WORD – God speaks to us in the scripture reading and proclamation and we respond in a
statement of faith, prayer and song.
A reading from the book of Genesis 1:1-
2;4a God created women and men to preserve and
protect creation. God also rested on the seventh
day, the Sabbath, making it a holy day of rest.
In the beginning when God created the heavens
and the earth, the earth was a formless void and
darkness covered the face of the deep, while a
wind from God swept over the face of the
waters. Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and
there was light.
All: And God saw that the light was good;
And God separated the light from the darkness.
God called the light Day, and the darkness he
called Night.
All: And there was evening and there was
morning, the first day.
And God said, ‘Let there be a dome in the
midst of the waters, and let it separate the
waters from the waters.’ So God made the
dome and separated the waters that were under
the dome from the waters that were above the
dome. And it was so. God called the dome Sky.
All: And there was evening and there was
morning, the second day.
And God said, ‘Let the waters under the sky
be gathered together into one place, and let
the dry land appear.’ And it was so. God called
the dry land Earth, and the waters that were
gathered together he called Seas. And God saw
that it was good. Then God said, ‘Let the earth
put forth vegetation: plants yielding seed, and
fruit trees of every kind on earth that bear
fruit with the seed in it.’ And it was so. The
earth brought forth vegetation: plants yielding
seed of every kind, and trees of every kind
bearing fruit with the seed in it.
All: And God saw that it was good. And there
was evening and there was morning, the third
day.
And God said, ‘Let there be lights in the dome
of the sky to separate the day from the night;
and let them be for signs and for seasons and
for days and years, and let them be lights in
the dome of the sky to give light upon the
earth.’ And it was so. God made the two great
lights—the greater light to rule the day and the
lesser light to rule the night—and the stars. God
set them in the dome of the sky to give light
upon the earth, to rule over the day and over the
night, and to separate the light from the darkness.
All: And God saw that it was good. And there
was evening and there was morning, the fourth
day.
And God said, ‘Let the waters bring forth
swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly
above the earth across the dome of the sky.’ So God created the great sea monsters and every
living creature that moves, of every kind, with
which the waters swarm, and every winged bird
of every kind. And God saw that it was good.
God blessed them, saying, ‘Be fruitful and
5
multiply and fill the waters in the seas, and let
birds multiply on the earth.’
All: And there was evening and there was
morning, the fifth day.
And God said, ‘Let the earth bring forth
living creatures of every kind: cattle and
creeping things and wild animals of the earth
of every kind.’ And it was so. God made the
wild animals of the earth of every kind, and the
cattle of every kind, and everything that creeps
upon the ground of every kind.
All: And God saw that it was good.
Then God said, ‘Let us make humankind in
our image, according to our likeness; and let
them have dominion over the fish of the sea,
and over the birds of the air, and over the
cattle, and over all the wild animals of the
earth, and over every creeping thing that
creeps upon the earth.’
So God created humankind in his image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
All:....And it was so. God saw everything that he
had made, and indeed, it was very good. And
there was evening and there was morning, the
sixth day.
Thus the heavens and the earth were finished,
and all their multitude. And on the seventh day
God finished the work that he had done, and he
rested on the seventh day from all the work that
he had done.
All: So God blessed the seventh day and
hallowed it, because on it God rested from all the
work that he had done in creation. These are the
generations of the heavens and the earth when
they were created.
Holy Wisdom, Holy Word.
All: Thanks be to God
Psalm 8
1O | LORD our Lord,
how majestic is your name in | all the
earth!—
2you whose glory is chanted above the
heavens out of the mouths of in- | fants and
children;
you have set up a fortress against your
enemies, to silence the foe | and avenger.
3When I consider your heavens, the work | of
your fingers,
the moon and the stars you have set | in
their courses,
4what are mere mortals that you should be
mind- | ful of them,
human beings that you should | care for
them?
5Yet you have made them little less | than
divine;
with glory and hon- | or you crown them.
6You have made them rule over the works |
of your hands;
9O | LORD our Lord,
how majestic is your name in | all the earth!
A reading from Paul’s second letter to
the Corinthians 13:11-13 Paul closes a challenging letter to the
Corinthians with an appeal to Christian
fellowship grounded in the triune harmony of
Christ’s grace, God’s love, the Spirit’s
partnership.
Paul writes, 11
Finally, sisters and brothers,
farewell. Put things in order, listen to my appeal,
agree with one another, live in peace; and the
God of love and peace will be with you. 12
Greet
one another with a holy kiss. All the saints greet
you.
13
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love
of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be
with all of you.
Holy wisdom, holy Word.
All: Thanks be to God

stand for the prayer:
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit
All: I will praise God; for I am
fearfully and wonderfully made:
marvelous are His works; and that my
soul knows well.
How precious are your thoughts to me,
O God, how great is the sum of them!
Blessed be the name of the Holy One,
beyond all the blessings and hymns and
praises that are ever spoken in the
world. May there be abundant peace
from heaven and a full life for each of
us. Unite us with all your people in
Heaven and earth as your own children
who are blessed to be a blessing.
Amen.
Psalm 23 (read in unison) 1The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want. 2He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3He restoreth my soul:
he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for
his name’s sake. 4Yea, though I walk through
the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence
of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil;
my cup runneth over. 6Surely goodness and mercy
shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
The Good News according to Matthew
the 28th
chapter. All: Glory to you O Lord.
After his resurrection, Jesus summons his
remaining disciples and commissions them to
baptize and teach all nations in the name of
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
16
Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the
mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17
When they saw Jesus, they worshiped him; but
some doubted. 18
And Jesus came and said to
them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has
been given to me. 19
Go therefore and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit, 20
and teaching them to obey
everything that I have commanded you. And
remember, I am with you always, to the end of
the age.”
The Gospel of the Lord.
All: Praise to you O Christ.

Hymn of the Day: “Come, Join the Dance of Trinity” ELW #412 (appendix page 14)
Since the earliest centuries of the Church we
have proclaimed our belief in a God who is
paradoxically both Three and One. Let us
confess our faith together in the words of the
Nicene Creed:
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven;
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under
Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the
Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the
living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the
giver of life, who proceeds from the Father
and the Son.*
With the Father and the Son he is
worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and
apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one Baptism for the
forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
*Or just, "who proceeds from the Father." The phrase "and
the Son" is a later addition to the creed.

Offertory Prayer
Let us pray. God our provider,
All: you have not fed us with bread alone, but with words of
grace and life. Bless us and these your gifts, which we
receive from your bounty, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
10
Holy, mighty, and merciful God, you call us to your table. Help us that we may always
welcome others in full forgiveness, loving compassion and a wide embrace of acceptance.
Send now your Holy Spirit and graciously gather a diverse people with a bold faith.
Christ is the one who, handed over to a death he freely accepted in order to destroy death,
took bread and gave thanks;
Broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying:
Take and eat; this is my body, given for you.
Do this for the remembrance of me.
Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks and gave it for all to drink, saying:
This cup is the new covenant in my blood,
Shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin.
Do this for the remembrance of me.
Remembering, then, his death and resurrection, we take this bread and cup, giving you
thanks that you have made us worthy to serve you as your priestly people.
Send your Spirit upon these gifts of your church; gather into one all who share this bread
and wine and establish our faith in truth, that we may praise and glorify you through your
11
Son Jesus Christ.
All: Amen.
Let us pray together the prayer our Savior taught us. Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory,
forever and ever. Amen.
The gifts of God for the people of God. All: In Christ we are one body.
The Distribution You may be seated

ELCA Advocacy Advocacy ministries of the ELCA want to share stories and your voices about public policies and relevant advocacy issues that are of interest to you. We are called by God to protect all of creation. The Paris Agreement is a key tool in doing this on a global scale.
ELCA Advocacy is deeply disappointed with
administration’s decision to begin the process of
withdrawing from the Paris Agreement. The effects of
climate change are being felt globally, and vulnerable
and the marginalized populations are most impacted.
These are communities who have contributed the least to
the greenhouse gas emissions and are ill equipped to
mitigate or adapt to the impacts of climate change. Our
goal must be to develop and forge ahead with policies
that safeguard against these impacts. We are called by
God to protect all of creation. The Paris Agreement is a
key tool in doing this on a global scale. It represents an
unprecedented cooperation among world leaders to
address one of the direst issues facing humanity and the
rest of creation today. The viability of our planet is being threatened in extraordinary ways. Without
action, we are relinquishing our responsibilities for the prosperity of future generations.
Overwhelming scientific evidence shows that human
activity is contributing to climate change by emitting
greenhouse gases that change the earth’s atmosphere. This
is causing the earth to warm, which results in climate
changes never experienced before.
The stresses of climate change are real, impacting
practically every fiber of our existence, including health,
food security, water, hunger, agriculture, migration and
national security. The Paris Agreement is landmark in
international climate policy, and helps to set the agenda for
action now and in the years to come.
As a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, United
States has an obligation to the world to address climate
change. But the United States is also in a unique position to
maintain its global leadership on international climate
action. Inaction will allow the devastating effects of climate
disruption to continue.
The requirement for the United States to maintain its global leadership presence could not be more urgent.
Withdrawing from the Paris Agreement is contrary to our nation’s principled character. We urge
President Trump to reverse his decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement.
