Parish Newsletter ‘Be Alert’ ‘Be Alert’ ‘Be Alert’ Today begins the Season of Advent, the season of HOPE, and a new church year. As we begin our preparation for celebrating the birth of Christ we are warned to be alert to his coming into our lives and to the challenges his entry to our world brings. Advent offers us a chance to reflect on the deeper meaning of Christmas. Like Mary we are invited to let God's will be done in our lives through centering our lives on Jesus and his commandments to love God and our neighbour, a lifelong struggle! Several churches, including Our Lady and St David, will display a Jesse tree which will be dressed each Sunday with symbols of Christ's human ancestry, to remind us that he was indeed fully human. Perhaps you would like to have one in your home and the symbols can be made by children. They are available on the internet! As we light the candle on the advent wreath this Sunday may our hearts be filled with light and hope that Christ's PEACE will enter our hearts, homes, and communities this Christmas and remain with us throughout the new year. May our Advent be Hope filled and our Christmas be truly a Christ Mass of praise and thanksgiving for our many blessings throughout 2014. EŽ ϭϰϳϴ First Sunday of Advent 30th November 2014 Mark 13 :33–37 Advent Nights for Young Adults aged 18-30years.
