Howard Carter was born May 9, 1874.Howard Carter was home schooled.Howard Carter was ill for most of his childhood

and was sent to live with his aunts in Norfolk.After a while Samuel Carter, Howard Carter’s

father, became an archaeologist which inspired Howard to be one, too.

At the age 17, he switched from an archaeologist to an Egyptologist.

Howard Carter worked in Egypt for 31 years before he found kings Tut’s tomb.Howard Carter got a job as an archeologist’s helper to illustrate the artifacts

that were discovered. Howard Carter was once an artist, but people remember him more as an

archeologist and EgyptologistBeing an artist was helpful for his exploration because he drew the things he

saw and thought were interesting.He was able to read and make hieroglyphics (Egyptian writing)Howard Carter’s art was also a way he made money. He was hired by the

museums to draw pictures of ancient Egyptian things for tourists .
