Household Hazardous Waste
• Paints, varnish, solvents, caulking, glue• Fuels, antifreeze, brake fluid• Used motor oil & filters• Batteries (household, rechargeable, automotive)• Household cleaners (ie. bleach, oven cleaners)• Energy efficient bulbs, fluorescent tubes/bulbs• Needles in a puncture-proof container• Refillable and non-refillable propane tanks
Electronic waste is accepted at the City of Stratford landfill year round during regular hours.
Household hazardous waste is to be brought to the landfill on Household Hazardous Waste Days
Accepted Materials:
• Computers, monitors, printers• Peripherals (keyboards, mice, cables)• Scanners, copiers, fax machines• VCRs, DVD players, video games
• Cell phones, telephones, answering machines
• TVs, speakers, home theatres

Garbage Collection (Weekly)
Collected the third Monday of every month• Items that contain or have contained Freon require a white goods tag (fridges, freezers, dehumidifiers) • Non-Freon appliances (stoves, dishwashers, dryers)• Tags available at City Hall. Items containing Freon are not accepted at the landfill for drop off.
• All garbage placed for curbside collection must have a Bag Tag• Garbage may be placed out in three ways:
1. In plastic bags2. In garbage containers3. In tied bundles
• Bag Tags are to be wrapped around the neck of the bag or on the handle of the can
• LARGE ITEM tags available for items larger/heavier (ie. couch) • Large tags can be purchased at City Hall, City Annex and Zehrs• Large item collection on regular garbage day with tag affixed

Tags are available at a number of different locations, however, locations are subject to change throughout the year. Tags can be purchased at the following locations:• City Hall, East End Variety, Festival Variety, Petro Canada, Joe’s Variety, Mornington Variety, Blowes Stationary,
Hallmark/Blowes in the mall, 7-Eleven, Video 99 and Convenience, Zehrs, Canadian Tire Gas Bar, Shell Station, Giant Tiger, Sobeys, Stratford Variety, Stratford Mini Mart, Esso, Ultramar, Burnside Agriplex
• Maximum volume = 128L can• Maximum weight = 22 kg (50 lbs)
• Maximum tied bundles: 4 feet length, less than 4 inches in diameter
Green Bin Collection(Weekly)
• Leaf and yard waste is collected during the weeks indicated - city wide on your garbage day
• Materials must be placed in clearly marked certified compostable bags, kraft paper bags or reusable containers with a Yard Waste label attached facing the road
• Yard Waste stickers are available at City Hall, 82 Erie St. (3rd floor), and the landfill
• January 6 -10• April 27 - May 1• May 25 - 29• June 22 - 26
• July 13 - 17• August 17 - 21• September 14 - 18• September 28 - October 2

• Residents who wish to recycle any unwanted household items can place them curbside on the designated weekends
• Items can be placed out at 4:00 p.m. on the designated Friday
• Any items left must be removed from the curb by 3:00 p.m. on the designated Sunday
What are Textiles? Textiles include clothing, footwear, outerwear, underwear, bedding, towels, curtains, toys and small appliances.
Donating your textiles is easy with year round FREE home pick up. Visit declutter.diabetes.ca or call 1-800-505-5525 to book a pick up. Materials can also be brought to the landfill and placed in the Textile Recycling Bin.
What happens when textiles are donated and collected?Items are sorted into categories for re-wear, reuse and recycling.
Even ripped, torn and stained items can be recycled in the bin or through pick up. Single shoes welcome too!
Recycling of textiles includes uses like insulation, rags and recycled fabrics.
