General Information HOW TO REGISTER:

• Registration Forms are available at the Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Office, and online at www.brattleboro.org

• Registrations are accepted for all programs through the mail or in person at the Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Office. We do not accept registrations by phone.

• Registrations are accepted on a first come, first serve basis, with payment. Some programs have limited enrollment. Early registration is recommended.

FEES AND PAYMENT:

• Program fees are printed at the end of each program or course description.

• Payment must be made in full at the time of registration, or mailed in with your registration form.

• We can only accept a check or cash for payment. Checks should be made payable to: Brattleboro Recreation & Parks.

REGISTRATION DEADLINES:

• The registration deadline for all programs is the start date of the program, unless otherwise stated in the Brochure. Registration forms must be in prior to the start date of the printed deadline to insure that the program will have adequate numbers to be offered.

• Program registration will close when a program has limited enrollment and reaches its maximum number. No program registration will be accepted after the second meeting of a program or course unless permission with the Instructor/Program Coordinator is granted.

CONFIRMATION & NOTIFICATION:

• We do not send confirmation notices. We will notify you if a program is cancelled or changed.

• If you have sent in a completed registration form with payment, prior to the program deadline, you should consider that the participant is enrolled.

• If a program has limited enrollment and is filled, you will be notified and placed on a waiting list.

CANCELLATION POLICY & REFUNDS:

• The Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Department reserves the right to cancel or consolidate any program or course that does not meet minimum participant numbers.

• Cancellations due to inclement weather will be announced on our local radio stations, WTSA and WKVT, Facebook & the Rainout Line.

• Request for refunds must be in writing to the Recreation & Parks Director for approval. PROGRAM BROCHURES & LISTINGS:

• Brochures and newsletters are printed seasonally, (Summer Brochure, Fall Newsletter, Fall/Winter Brochure, Special Holiday Edition, Winter Carnival, Spring Newsletter.)

• The brochures and newsletters are distributed to the Brattleboro Elementary Schools, local banks, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Gibson-Aiken Center.

• Public service announcements are made through local radio stations WTSA and WKVT, local newspapers, The Brattleboro Reformer and The Commons, as well as our local TV station, BCTV.

RESIDENTS:

• You will notice that there are fee differences for Residents & Non Residents. Residents are those who live in, or own property in Brattleboro. Proof of residency may be required.

• Non Resident Youths pay an additional $15 and Non Resident Adults pay an additional $25. This is for all programs and sports activities offered by the Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Department.

SPECIAL NEEDS:

• If there are special needs required for any of our programs, please contact the Brattleboro Recreation & Parks Department one week prior to the scheduled event at 802-254-5808.

• The Gibson-Aiken Center now has a LULA/Elevator for building accessibility.

SUMMER DAY CAMP

Registration will be accepted via email. Space is limited and campers will be assigned packs on a first come first serve basis, with priority being given to Brattleboro Residents. Packs will be divided by age. There will be no registration taken on the first day of camp. All campers are required to be pre-registered with the Rec & Parks office before showing up for camp.

B3 BASEBALL & SOFTBALL CAMP

Each camper will receive personal attention to help improve their skills through the use of proper playing habits. Coaches will be working with campers on fundamentals and building personal skills while increasing knowledge of the game. Please bring your own stick & goggles, mouth guard snack & water. There will limited sticks & goggles available for use on a first come first serve basis on Monday.

MAD SCIENCE CAMP Brixology—Engineering with Lego

Ages: Entering Grades 1-5 (coed) Dates: July 13th - July 17th Times: 9:00 am - Noon Where: Gibson-Aiken Ctr. Gymnasium Cost: $155 Residents /$170 Non-Residents Notes: Brixology sets the foundation for our next generation of mak-ers!! Kids learn about different types of engineering and then team up to construct a project using Lego bricks. They will explore mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical animals, and bridges just to name a few. They will build upon their creativity to solve real-world design challenges, while developing their problem-solving and team-building skills. Let the tinkering begin!!!

Notes: Attention will be given to the instruction of good ball control habits and movement techniques through drills and match situations. Conditioning and training habits will be stressed to help prevent injury and improve coordination and flexibility. Voltage understands the needs of youth in soccer and stresses the development of a positive self-image, mental stimulation and a sense of respect and sportsmanship among players. All players must bring shin guards & a water bottle.

Stephen Green is board certified by the Tai Chi for Health Institute in the instruction of Tai Chi for balance, health and arthritis. The program uses gentle Sun Style Tai Chi routines that are safe, easy to learn and suitable for every fitness level. Tai Chi is a powerful tool in healing and strengthening the body, mind and spirit. Flowing movements improve balance, strength, increase flexibility and joint mobility and reduce stress.

POOL ELIGIBILITY POLICIES

• If you are under the age of 7, you must be accompanied by someone 12 years of age or older to swim during General Swim times.

• During the Parent/Tot Swim, participants will be allowed to swim only in the 3 foot end of the Pool.

• To be eligible to swim during Family & Teen Swim, you must be entering the 7th grade or be with someone 18 years or older.

SWIM LESSONS/REGISTRATION At LMP Swimming Pool

To be eligible for Swim Lessons, children must be 3 by June 20th

Swim Lesson Registration Residents - Saturday, June 20th 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 Residents - Thursday June 25th 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 Non Residents - Friday, June 26th 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 Cost: $35 for Residents $50 for Non Residents

SESSION 1: June 29th - July 10th (2 weeks) SESSION 2: July 13th - July 24th (2 weeks) SESSION 3: July 27th - August 7th (2 weeks) Notes: Swim Lessons are primarily for Brattleboro Residents. Non-Residents will be accepted if space is available. Due to the new Red Cross system for lessons each child must be tested in the pool before being placed in a class.

If your child has a Red Cross Card from last summer, please bring it with you to registration.

POOL PARTY Ages: All ages!
