Fructose

• Fructose is a very sweet sugar occurring in many fruits and honey. It is also used as a preservative for foodstuffs and as an intravenous nutrient.

Lichen

• A lichen is any complex organism of the group Lichenes, composed of a fungus in symbiotic union with an alga and having a greenish, gray, yellow, brown, or blackish thallus that grows in leaflike, crustlike, or branching forms on rocks, trees, etc.

• Chitin is a nitrogen-containing polysaccharide, related chemically to cellulose, that forms a semitransparent horny substance and is a principal constituent of the exoskeleton, or outer covering, of insects, crustaceans, and arachnids.
