Every year, hundreds of students in elementary, middle, and high schools
from throughout the Twin Cities attend Concordia Academy Camps,
learning to use their talents to shine while they strengthen skills, build
relationships, gain knowledge, and make new friends.
Students will get opportunities to dance, run, shoot, score, sing, design,
investigate, sign, repair, act, pitch, bat, lift, grow, explore, serve, worship...
and have the times of their lives.
At CA, we are committed to Honoring God Through Excellence, and our
camps are no exception.
All of our camps are held on the Concordia Academy campus, located at
2400 North Dale Street in Roseville, just north of Highway 36 and Dale St.

American Sign Language Intro July 22-26, 1:00-2:30 pm Boys & Girls | Grades 5 6 7 8 9 | $85 Denise Lau | [email protected]
Interested in a crash course in American
Sign Language (ASL)? Students will learn
over 100 signs and be able to have small talk
conversations with the Deaf community in
just one short week of 90-minute sessions.
This fun class focuses on conversation
and uses various games to help students
remember the signs they learn. This camp
is taught by Denise Lau, teacher of CA’s
incredibly popular ASL I and ASL II classes.
Auto Shop June 24-28, 1:00-4:00 pm Boys & Girls | Grades 8 9 10 11 12 | $85 Bob Wolf | [email protected]
Future drivers or new drivers, start off
summer with your head under the hood!
Spend part of the week focusing on vehicle
engines (oil changes, brake inspection,
cooling systems, fluids, and tune ups). Then
you’ll shift to auto bodies, including how
to fix dents, deal with rust, and take care of
any minor body repairs. You will be provided
with car maintenance and repair materials,
but bring a notepad, a pair of work gloves,
and protective eyewear. CA teacher and
head football coach Bob Wolf will be your
auto guru and will also welcome some
professional mechanics during the week.
Bella Voce Girls Choir June 24-28, 9:00-11:00 am Girls | Grades 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 | $85 Brian De Young | [email protected]
Drawing on the talents of girls and young
women in grades 5-12, the Bella Voce Girls
Choir will learn the fundamentals of beautiful
choral singing and prepare selections for two
and three-part treble choir. Participants will
be coached in sound production, diction, and
singing as part of a large ensemble and will do
daily exercises in sight singing and ear training.
The week will culminate with a concert
presenting selections from some of the
finest 20th and 21st century American choral
repertoire. Students who have previously
attended this camp are welcome to attend
again, as music selections will be different from
last year. Belle Voce Girls Choir is directed by
Brian De Young. Brian has directed youth and
adult choirs in Iowa, Michigan, and Minnesota
and has served on the faculties of Grand
Valley State University and Blue Lake Fine Arts
Camp. He currently teaches at Hopewell Music
Cooperative North.

Two-time Section 4AA Basketball Coach
of the Year Eric Schutte, the Beacons head
coach since 2003, will encourage, train, and
build confidence in participants, assisted by
other members of the coaching staff and

summer offerings, this camp will include
fundamentals instruction, drills to improve
skills, and games.
Camp Create June 17-21, 9:00-11:30 am Boys & Girls | Grades 5 6 7 8 9 | $85 Rebecca Hed | [email protected]
Student artists at Camp Create will get to
develop skills and express themselves using a
variety of media, including paint, clay, wood,
duct tape, and more! Come create with us; no
prior experience is necessary! Rebecca Hed
and Elissa Boll (Concordia Academy alumni,
graduates of our Emerging Artist Curriculum,
and award-winning artists) will guide campers
through a week of artistic expression.

Who did it? During CSI (Crime Scene
Investigation) Camp, students will be
presented with a “crime scene” and have the
week to successfully identify the “criminal.”
Students will solve the crime by observing,
collecting, and documenting evidence
fingerprinting, ballistics, dental impressions,
Elizabeth Bohren, a Concordia Academy
science teacher and coordinator of our
STEM2 program. This year’s sessions will
have a different crime scenario than previous
years, but the activities and techniques will
be the same.
Dance July 15-19, 6:00-8:00 pm Girls | Grades 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 | $85 Kaylie Bisping | [email protected]
Get a week-long glimpse into the world of
dance team, learning alongside CA Dance
Team (CADT) members. This camp will
focus on the techniques and skills of both
jazz and high kick. Participants will have
the opportunity to grow in strength and

team styles. During the week, students will
learn a short routine that will be performed
on Friday for family and friends. No dance
experience needed! Kaylie Bisping, the CADT
coach, leads the camp.
Fastpitch Defense July 8-11, 10:45 am - 12:15 pm Girls | Grades 5 6 7 8 9 | $40 Gina Tupper | [email protected]
This camp focuses on developing strong
fundamentals in the sport for both
experienced and inexperienced softball
on the skill level and experience of the
athletes. Players are taught skills in throwing
and fielding for outfield and infield positions.
The camp is conducted by Head Coach
Gina Tupper with assistance from varsity
returners and Concordia Academy assistant
coaches. If necessary, July 12 will be used
as a rain date.
Fastpitch Lefty Slapping Camp July 8-11, 2:45-4:00 pm Girls | Grades 5 6 7 8 9 10 | $40 Gina Tupper | [email protected]
This camp is for the specialized skill of lefty
slapping. Participants should be fast runners
with at least three seasons of experience on
a fastpitch softball team. Additionally, players
should have strong eye-hand coordination
and good reaction time. Players are taught
fundamentals in drag bunting and lefty
slapping. The camp is conducted by Head
Coach Gina Tupper and 2019 CA graduate
Taylor Brunn, a six-year varsity starter and lefty
slapper. She reached over 200 career base
hits her junior season and batted over .600 for
three consecutive seasons. If necessary, July
12 will be used as a rain date.

The primary focus of this softball camp
is development of good form in order to
increase future success in the sport as well
as reduce the risk of injury. Differential
instruction is used based on the skill level
and experience of the athletes. Players are
taught skills in hitting, bunting, fake bunt
slapping, base running, and sliding. Both
experienced and inexperienced players are
welcome. The camp is conducted by Head
Coach Gina Tupper with assistance from

CA’s pitching camp is designed for beginner
and experienced pitchers who will receive
instruction in fastball form to improve both
accuracy and speed. Experienced pitchers
with well-established fastball form will have
the option to be instructed in additional
pitches such as the change-up, rise ball,
and/or drop ball. Pitchers are strongly
recommended to bring someone to catch
for them, as this will greatly increase their
reps; however, a catcher is not required. The
camp is led by Head Coach Gina Tupper
with assistance from additional Concordia
Academy pitching coaches and/or varsity
pitchers. If necessary, July 12 will be used as
a rain date.
Flag Football July 15-18, 8:30-11:00 am Boys & Girls | Grades 4 5 6 | $60 Bob Wolf | [email protected]
CA head football coach Bob Wolf is
organizing this flag football camp designed
for elementary students who want to learn
football. It will focus on fundamentals,
including blocking, flag pulling, footwork,
and ball skills. The camp, held on CA’s
practice football field, will be led by Baeza
Tensaie, a member of the Beacon football
coaching staff, along with a number of
former CA football players. Campers are
encouraged to have cleats, and a mouth
guard is recommended.

The fundamentals of football, including
blocking, form tackling, footwork, and
ball skills will be emphasized in the middle
school camp. Students will also receive
instruction on special teams (including
punting, kicking, and long-snapping),
same time, Concordia Academy high school
students will prepare for the upcoming
season. Current CA football coaching staff
will coach these camps, led by CA head
football coach Bob Wolf.
G3 (Genuinely Great Girls) July 22-26, 9:00-11:00 am Girls | Grades 5 6 7 8 | $90 Sarah Tramm | [email protected]
Girls, this camp is for you! Sarah Tramm,
one of CA’s fantastic teachers, can’t wait
to lead you through a week of girl-focused
bonding time! We’ll play games, encourage

a blast with lots of other activities, too. A
Bible study on Esther, Q & A sessions about
the challenges girls deal with, and quality
discussion time will be woven throughout
the week. New and returning campers are
welcome. The goal of “G3” is to help you
build your self-esteem, encourage your
fellow females, and feel great about the
awesome person God has created you to be!

This camp focuses on fundamental skill
building, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Stubbs and CA players will offer training and
encouragement while building confidence.

Designed for players of all skill levels, CA’s
soccer camp will match players according
to their age and ability, with emphasis placed
on the positive mental attitude necessary in
performing soccer-specific skills. Instruction
techniques over tactics, including dribbling
and foot skills, passing, shooting, heading,
trapping, and speed training. Proper athletic
clothes should be worn; shin pads will be
mandatory. Campers should bring a soccer
ball and water each day.

This camp is for the student who seeks
the spotlight! Campers will think on their
feet, develop acting skills, and learn the
fundamentals of theatre in a safe and
supportive environment. Talents will be
discovered and confidence built as we
explore the basics of performance and
stagecraft. CA theatre director Sara Neel
will lead students through a week of

improvisational games, acting exercises, and
team building activities that will culminate
in a showcase for family and friends on the
CA stage.

Vision4Life is Concordia Academy’s award-
winning, character-building, service-learning
the good things that God does. We can’t
help but share this Vision4Life with others.
Therefore, we are excited to partner with
your student this summer for a week of
being the hands and feet of Jesus. During
this service camp, we will have a great time
making tie blankets to donate, packing care
kits for people in need, volunteering at Feed
My Starving Children, and taking part in other
service opportunities! We’ll also spend time in
Bible study and grow in friendship as a group
through fun, community building activities.
Note: Daily end times may fluctuate a bit;
specific details will be given several weeks
before the camp.

This camp introduces younger players to the
complex skills of volleyball and helps them
improve their overall game, focusing on
passing, attacking, and playing lots of games.
This camp will be led by CA’s head volleyball
coach, Kim Duis, the 2018 Section 4AA
Coach of the Year and coach of the 2018
Minnesota State Class AA 4th place team.
Other members of the coaching staff will
also be helping with the camp.

These two camps provide an opportunity
for CA volleyball players to increase their
knowledge and practice in specific skills.
It will prepare athletes in a competitive
environment, and they will get to know the
coaching staff and their expectations for
the upcoming season. These camps are for
athletes that will be attending Concordia
Academy in the fall.

In June, a crew of trainers will teach
participants about weight room safety,

the students will put that knowledge to good
use by focusing on athletic development and
weight training technique. Our expansive
weight room is the perfect setting for
students to get a taste of the program that
has helped CA take first place in the Tri-
Metro Weight Lifting Competition eight of
the last ten years.

This program starts off with testing in bench,
squat, slant boards, broad jump, and more
during the week of June 4. In the following
weeks, students will work on athletic
development, weight training, core, and
concussion prevention training.

newbies or younger students learn and enjoy
wrestling by teaching the basic techniques
along with drill sessions and actual live
wrestling. Participants will become highly
motivated about the great sport of wrestling,
learn basic moves, build confidence, and
get into better shape. Good leadership,
teamwork, focus, concentration, positive
experienced wrestlers improve their skills
to become champion wrestlers. Coaches
Keith Esala and Bob Wolf, camp leaders,
have numerous years of experience as
wrestling coaches.
Youth Worship Team Music Camp June 10-14, 12:30-3:00 pm Boys & Girls | Grades 5 6 7 8 9 | $85 Jyl Dunavan & Dean Dunavan | [email protected]
By bringing together young students
with music teachers and worship leaders,
participants will learn the art of leading
worship and improve performance skills.
Highlights include performance basics of
drums, keyboard, vocals, or strings; spiritual
teachings; and composing instruction.

given them. This camp is led by Dean and
Jyl Dunavan. Dean is a Scripture teacher
at CA and Jyl is a music teacher. They are
also worship leaders at Woodbury Lutheran
Church - Oak Hill Campus.

Summers at Concordia Academy are awesome, and we can’t wait to
have you join us.
Registration for CA Camps is done at ConcordiaAcademy.com/camps
on a first come, first served basis. Many camps have size limits, so early
registration is encouraged. Once a camp is full, you may have an option
to be placed on a waiting list.
Camp fees are paid in full (by credit card or electronic check) at the time
of registration. We realize that plans sometimes change, so refunds of camp
fees, minus a $25 processing fee, will be given for registrations canceled
before June 1. Starting June 1, refunds will not be given for cancellations.
No prorating or reduction of camp fees will be given for absences.
Concordia Academy reserves the right to cancel classes for any reason,
including low enrollment. In the event of a cancellation, we will try to give
at least two weeks notice. Camp fees will, of course, be refunded in full.
