Explanation of Tuition and Required Fees
Required fees must be paid by all students. Students are
entitled to the services, facilities, and programs offered by the
Student Center, Health Services, Physical Education Department, and
Athletics Department.

Fees Union Activities Board (UAB) - This fee of $.66 per credit
hour for Undergraduates and $.66 for Graduates, supports the UAB
which is the main programming body for the campus which is
responsible for acquiring, scheduling, publicizing, and presenting
films, speakers, and special events. Student Publications Fee -
This fee of $.91 per credit hour for Undergraduates and $.91 for
Graduates, is used to defray the cost of the various campus-wide
student publications. At present, these include two student
newspapers, a yearbook, a radio station, and "The Windover" (a
literary magazine). Student Government Fee - This fee of $.52 per
credit hour for Undergraduates and $.52 for Graduates, is allocated
to the Student Government for distribution to Campus organizations
for activities that they deem are in the best interest of the
student body. Student Legal Services Fee - This fee of $.56 per
credit hour for Undergraduates and $.56 for Graduates, funds the
student legal services program which offers legal services to all
students. School (Student Association) Fee - This fee of $.17 for
Undergraduates and $.58 for Graduate students is collected for use
by the student associations in each of the colleges. Student Center
Operations - This fee of $4.30 per credit hour for Undergraduates
and $4.30 for Graduates, supports the operations, activities, and
programs offered by the University Student Center. Student Center
Repairs and Renovations - This fee of $1.55 per credit hour for
Undergraduates and $1.55 for Graduates, is used to maintain and
upgrade the Talley Student Center, Price Music Center, Witherspoon
Student Center, and Thompson Theater. Student Center Programming
Fee (DASA, OIED) - This $7.91 fee for Undergraduates and $7.91 for
Graduates supports programming for the Student Centers and the
Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity. Sustainability
Education and Operations Fee - This fee of $.17 per credit hour for
Undergraduates and $.17 for Graduates is used to promote
sustainability and green ambassador efforts.

Recreational Sports Fee - This fee of $5.65 per credit hour for
Undergraduates and $5.65 for Graduates, is used to defray the cost
of operating and maintaining the intramural recreational sports
program and other physical education programs. Association of
Student Governments - This fee of $.03 per credit hour for
Undergraduates and $.03 for Graduates, is charged at all UNC
institutions to help finance the Association of Student
Governments, a coalition of student leaders from across the state,
and is to be used for administrative staff, travel and small
stipends for student leaders. Campus Security Fee - This fee of
$1.01 per credit hour is used to assist in campus-based and UNC
system-wide safety and new security initiatives, staffing and
security measures. Intercollegiate Athletics Fee - This fee of
$7.84 per credit hour for Undergraduates and $7.84 for Graduates,
provides partial support of the intercollegiate athletic program.
Student Health Services Fee - This fee of $13.24 per credit hour
for Undergraduates and $13.24 for Graduates, is used by the
University Health Center to offer medical and counseling services
to students. Education and Technology Fee - This academic fee of
$14.84 per credit hour for Undergraduates and $14.84 per credit
hour for Graduates, used by colleges and schools to equip and
operate computing and scientific laboratories that supplement
classroom instruction. Transit Operations Fee (Bus Service) - This
fee of $6.52 per credit hour for Undergraduates and $6.52 for
Graduates, partially funds the campus transit system. Thompson
Theater Building Indebtedness - This $1.28 fee for Undergraduates
and $1.28 for Graduates is pledged to support renovation for the
Thompson Theater Building. Student Health Service - Expansion -
This $1.18 fee for Undergraduates and $1.18 for Graduates is
pledged to support an addition for the Student Health Services
Building. Intercollegiate Athletics Indebtedness Fees - This fee of
$3.24 per credit hour for Undergraduates and $3.24 for Graduates,
is used for the Department of Athletics in support of facility
improvements, renovations, repairs and maintenance. Carmichael
Complex - Indebtedness - This fee of $.78 for Undergraduates and
$.78 for Graduates is pledged to support repairs and renovations of
outdated equipment and facilities at Carmichael Complex. Student
Center - Expansion - This fee of $8.78 for Undergraduates and $8.78
for Graduates is pledged to support the renovation of the Student
Center Buildings. Carmichael Complex - Expansion - This fee of $.93
per credit hour for Undergraduates and $.93 for Graduates is
pledged to support the Locker Room Renovation and Fitness Center
Expansion. Carmichael Complex Addition and Renovation – This fee of
$3.13 per credit hour for Undergraduates and $3.13 for Graduates is
pledged to retire debt issued for the Carmichael Gymnasium Addition
and Renovation.

Late Registration Fee - The late registration fee is $35.00.
Late registration for Summer Session I starts on April 19, 2018 and
ends May 18, 2018 at 5:00 pm. For Summer Session II, it begins May
29, 2018 and ends June 27, 2018. The "late, late" registration fee
is $100.00 and "late, late" registration begins on May 19, 2018 for
Summer Session I and June 28, 2018 for Summer Session II.
Refund for Reduction in Hours
The last day to reduce hours, or drop individual courses for a
tuition adjustment is the same as the last day to register, add
courses without departmental approval, drop a course or change to
Audit. Typically the 3rd day of classes for Summer sessions.
Courses dropped after this date are not eligible for a tuition
adjustment or refund. The last day to drop a course with a refund
or reduction in rates is the CENSUS DATE:
Summer II 2018: June 27, 2018 Summer I 2018: May 18, 2018
Refunds for official withdrawals from North Carolina State
University are prorated and no refunds are made for official
withdrawals after 50% of the enrollment period. DROPPING ALL
COURSES CONSTITUTES WITHDRAWAL FROM THE UNIVERSITY. An
administrative fee of 5% of the total tuition and fee, room rent,
and meal plan charges not to exceed $100 will be charged for all
withdrawals processed. This fee will post to your account one
business day after the processing of your withdrawal. Students are
responsible for payment of housing and meal plan services that are
provided. Refunds will not be processed until after the official
drop period (Census) and will be deposited to the student's bank
account or mailed to the student's university home/mailing
address.

The deadline for filing a refund application appeal for Summer
Session I is June 22, 2018. The deadline for filing a refund
application appeal for Summer Session II is July 31, 2018. Students
that withdraw after the 0% date may file a refund application
appeal in the Student Accounts Section of the University Cashier's
Office. The appeal must be substantiated by medical reasons,
unexpected employment changes, death in the immediate family, or
University error and will be reviewed by the University Fee Appeals
Committee.
