The statewide Rhode Island Summer Reading Program is supported by the RI Office
of Library and Information Services with funds from the Institute of Museum and
Library Services, and the Pawtucket Red Sox, . Local support includes RI Children's
Librarians, the Friends of the Pawtucket Public Library, McDonalds, and the
Pawtucket Library’s Caidin Fund..
Children of all ages can be Summer Readers. Sign-ups start Tuesday June 27. There will be early registration at the kickoff party on Monday, June 26
The goal: read twelve hours or more during the summer.
Summer Readers… Read on their own or with family and friends
Record the number of minutes/hours they read Report three times at the library or bookmobile
Receive free admission passes and prizes!
All reading counts including whole books, chapters, reading list books, magazines, comic books, graphic novels,
newspapers, audio books , EZone e-books and anything else that has a title and an author.
Reach your reading goal and enter to win!...
Summer Readers who reach the reading goal will receive a certificate completers gift bag and also be able to enter the Tuesday August 15 raffle (you do not need to be present to win). There is a separate raffle and prize for the
Alternative Readers.
Summer Reading Program runs from 6/27 to 8/21.

Children with their families are invited to watch a free movie (rated G
or PG). Kids 9 or older may attend without a caregiver.
Monday, June 26th from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Summer Reading Program Kick-off Party—Fiddle N’ Fun Fiddle N' Fun brings play to learning and learning to play! Singing,
listening games, movement, instruments and music learning experiences
with certified music educator Joel Beauchemin. Attendees may
preregister for summer reading!
Wednesday, July 12th at 10:30 a.m. Special Musical Story Class with Katie Fairhead Join Miss Katie for an interactive music performance. Kids will get join
the fun by helping sing and write the songs; keeping rhythm by playing
percussion; and dancing!

Tuesday, August 1st at 10:30 a.m. Warm and Fuzzy Animal Adventures Warm and Fuzzy Petting Zoo! Come pet, swaddle, and feed fuzzy friends
like bunnies, Guinea pigs, ferrets, chinchillas, ducks, hens and a rooster,
tortoise, and goats. All ages welcome.
Friday, August 18th at 3:00 p.m. Animal World Experience Home is Where the Heart Is: How are the homes animals build like our
homes? From lizard lounges to millipede mansions, learn about the
shelters animals build and use.
Monday, August 21st at 6:00 p.m. Summer Reading Program Finale Party -Polynesian Dance Back by popular demand! Miss Lola will perform a variety of dance styles
from Polynesia as we learn about music, props, and costuming. Kids will
learn fun choreography, too. The finale party raffle will happen during the
performance. You do need to be present to win this raffle.
All programs will be in the Library Auditorium and are sponsored by the Caidin Fund and the Office of Library and Information Services.
