1. Family membership in the Suffolk Y in good standing (validthrough the summer) and Building Fund Assessment for children ofcurrent and prior members must be paid to date. All Non-mem-bers must pay a sur charge of $260 per family for participation in allcamp programs. The membership fee, building fund assessmentand/or surcharge is not refundable.

2. A fully completed and signed 3-part application/registration card must be returned at time of registration with deposit and surcharge, if applicable.

3. Registration will be accepted only upon the following fee payments.

A. Current membership or non-member surcharge;B. Building Fund Assessment paid to date, for current and prior members;C. Deposit of $250.00 per child for all camping programs, including combinations. All checks should be made payable to the Suffolk Y JCC.

4. All camp fees must be paid IN FULL by April 29th..Incomplete payments by that date shall make camp contract subject to cancellation by the Y.

5. When Y camp programs are wait-listed, priority will begiven to Y members and consideration based on availability in groups and bus transportation. We strongly urge you to register EARLY because many of our camp programs were closed out last year.

1. Because of the possible increases in transporta-tion costs which our bus companies have indicat-ed they may pass on to us, the Suffolk Y may findit necessary to add a small transportation sur-charge. We wish to emphasize that we are makingevery effort to keep the fees inclusive as stated inthe brochure.

2. Door-to-Door service will be provided wherev-er possible. If a bus cannot get into and out of astreet, court, or cul- de-sac without backing up,then the nearest corner will be designated as apick-up stop. If there is more than one pick-up ona block, one address will be designated as thecentral pick-up point.

All camps operated by the Suffolk Y JewishCommunity Center are under permit from theSuffolk County Department of Health Servicesand are inspected twice yearly. Inspectionreports are maintained in the office of the SuffolkCounty Department of Health Services.

1. Suffolk Y membership fees are not refundable.

2. The Non - member Surcharge is ONLY for camp.No membership privileges apply. This fee anddeposit must be made at time of registration. The sur-charge is not refundable.

3. Refund requests for camp cancellations must bemade in writing and are subject to the following serv-ice charges:

A. Before March 1 - $50. per camper B. Between March 1 and April 1-$100 per

camperC. After April 1 - No refunds

4. There is a $50 service fee to reduce the originalregistration period. Once camp is in session, anyexchange of registered weeks will incur a $50 fee pertransaction.

5. A camp registration is a reservation for the agreedperiod of weeks. There will be no proration (reduc-tion) of fees based on missed days due to illness,absence or early withdrawal.6. The Suffolk Y assumes no responsibility for person-al property of campers.

7. The Suffolk Y reserves the right to suspend orremove a child from camp. No refund will be issuedwhere this decision is necessary. Parents of young-sters in the Teen Travel Program must assume all trans-portation costs for a teen sent home for cause.

8. New York State No-Fault law requires that you makemedical claims against your own insurance companyif any member of the family is injured while riding in avehicle for a Y program.

9. All photos taken will becomeproperty of the Suffolk Y and can be used for publications.

Boys & Girls ages 3-5 ( by Dec. 2011 )Your childs first camp experience will be filled withwondrous excitement! Groups are led by caring, nurtur-ing and dedicated staff who work together to create asafe yet adventurous environment. Our Red Cross swimprogram teaches swimming in a non-threatening way inthe Y’s indoor and outdoor pools. Sports, Pony Rides,Music, Oneg Shabbat, Special Events, Arts & Crafts andother fun-filled activities are held both outdoors on theY’s campus and in air-conditioned classrooms.

Fun For 3'sThis introduction to camp allows 3 year olds who maynot be ready for a full camp day to take part in the excite-ment that camp offers. Led by mature and caring staff,your child will love the pony rides, playground time, arts& crafts, movement, music and special events.

Summer Stay & PlayAn introduction to supervised play away from mommy.Activities include music, arts and crafts, playground timeand pony rides.

Extended Day for Children of Working ParentsFor children enrolled in Camp Wonderland and Young Adventurers we are offering an extended day – 8-10AM and 2-6PM at the rate of $5.00 per hour. Thismust be prepaid and is non-refundable and is for theentire period the child is registered for camp.

Marci Sherman, MSW, has had 29years of camping experience andholds a Bachelor of ScienceDegree in Elementary Educationfrom Oneonta State College and aMasters Degree in Social Workfrom Adelphi University. She is theY’s Associate Executive Director.She has been with the Y’s campsfor 23 years.

Grace Barrett, the Y’s Camp CreateDirector, is an accomplished artistas well as the Commack MiddleSchool’s art teacher. Grace hastaught art enrichment classes at theY for 25 years and has her MALSfrom Stony Brook University and anMS in School Administration andSupervision from Touro College.

Adam Bendeson, MSW, an AssistantExecutive Director at the Y, will bereturning as the Day Camp Co-Director for his 8th year and holds aBachelor of Science Degree fromNew York Institute of Technologyand a Masters Degree from YeshivaUniversity’s Wurzweiler School ofSocial Work. He has been workingin the camping field for over 27years.

Ron Hayden returns for his 14th year as the Day Camp Co- Director. He has been incamping most of his life and is on the Y’s full-time staff as theChildren and Youth ServicesDirector.

Eileen Schneyman, LMSW has been with the Y for 17 years. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Welfare from Albany Univ.and a Masters Degree in Social Workfrom Adelphi Univ. She is the Y’sAssistant Executive Director. This isEileen’s 30th summer working in Ycamping programs and she supervises the Y’s Special NeedsPrograms.

Carrie Lipenholtz returns thissummer as the camp liaison. Thisis her 12th season with theSuffolk Y JCC camps. Carrie holdsa BS in secondary educationfrom Towson University and aMasters Degree in LiteracyEducation.

Jami Ashendorf, will begin her19th summer with the Y. Shereturns as Director of CampWonderland. The mother ofthree, she has taught pre-schoolat the Y for 18 years and is alsothe Director of Early ChildhoodServices during the school year.

Barbra Bresin has been president ofOn Centerstage Inc. for 17 years.She has been involved with theatermost of her life, on stage and inbackstage production. OnCenterstage and the Suffolk YJCChave been together for 18 years.During the year, she is the directorof On Center- stage Juniors andTeens program at the Suffolk Y.

Nancy Briel is the Y’sWaterfront Director. Nancyreceived her Bachelors ofScience in Education fromTowson University. Nancy isthe Y’s Aquatic Director duringthe year.

Jason Goldberg returns for his 11th summer as TeenAdventure Travel CampDirector at the Y. He hasmany years experience incamping and holds aBachelors Degree fromDowling College.

CIT ProgramTeens entering grade 10(Sept. 2011)

The CIT program is an on-the-job training experience for a select group of mature teens who are interested in working with children.Applicants must take part in the Orientationand Training sessions in the spring as well asthe Staff Training Institute prior to the opening of camp. CIT’s could be placed in a group (in either Camp Wonderland or Junior Camp) or a specialty area. There will be on-going training throughout the summer as well as special trips. Teens interested in applying should call 631-462-9800 ext. 127for an application and interview. The deadlineto apply is March 1, 2011.The CIT camp is $1600 and is only available for the entire 8 week camp season. Y Family or Single Parent Membership is required. Building Fund and membership must be valid through the summer.

Special Needs CampCamp Kehilla provides a summer of fun,friends, learning and new experiences for thecamper with special needs. Located on theHenry Kaufmann Campgrounds, CampKehilla features a daily swim, sports, daytrips, music, drama, arts and crafts andmore. Small groups and small camper-to-counselor ratios provide personalizedattention so campers can maintain theskills gained during the previous schoolyear; while improving skills inrecreation/socialization, sports and mostimportantly, self-esteem. Social workers andspecial-education professionals supervise andimplement a program of friendship, fun,meaningful experiences and acceptance.Three separate camps provide programs andtrips for each age level.

Campers in grades 1-9 (Sept. 2011)Lights, Camera, Action! Each day is filled withswimming in the Y ‘s indoor pool, free choicetheater electives, and rehearsal for theBroadway-style show. Everyone performs, but auditions are held to determine part selection. Professional staff help each camperdevelop skills in dancing, acting, singing, setdesign, stage management and more. Eachsession also includes a trip to see an equityproduction show.

Junior AdventurersA Special Option for those 5 day campers entering K-4 from Camp Wonderland and Young Adventurers at noadditional fee!

Get the best of all our camps! Our new pro-gram combines all you love about camp atthe Suffolk Y JCC building with the excite-ment of Junior Camp at the Henry KaufmannCampgrounds. Your children will spend 3days (M, W, Th) at their registered camp(either Camp Wonderland or YoungAdventures) and 2 days (T, F) at Junior Camp.Campers will take an air conditioned bus tothe Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds at 10:30where they will participate in two dailyswims, lunch and 2 fabulous activities suchas archery, pioneering, sports, or mini golf aswell as our unique Friday Oneg celebrations.Then they will take a bus back to the Y build-ing on the Shuttle and return at approximate-ly 4:30. Located in air-conditioned classrooms in theSuffolk Y building, Camp Create is designedto stretch your creative muscles by provid-ing you with an exciting 4 week adventure invisual arts. Each week, whatever your skilllevel, you will experience innovative instruc-tion that focuses on drawing, painting, print-making and sculpture. Led by Grace Barrett,Art Camp Director and Coordinator ofFestivals of the Arts for the Commack SchoolDistrict, along with other certified art educa-tors, this program offers small group sizesand allows you to explore each area of artwith other enthusiastic young artists whiledeveloping skills and friendships. Dailyswims in the Y’s indoor pool and two muse-um field trips enhance your summer campexperience.

Campers in grades K-5 (Sept. 2011)A kaleidoscope of activities awaits you at thebeautiful 450 acre Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds! Junior Camp’s unique variety of activities encourages creative expression whileinstilling a strong sense of camp community insmall groups. Archery, pioneering, outdoorcooking, sports, Jewish Culture, arts & crafts,music, special events and exciting trips are justsome of the fun that will be shared by all. Ournew golf driving range is a hit as are our newlyrenovated shelters. Campers will love the swimming pool complex which includes 4 giantpools where Red Cross swim instruction istaught each day. Camp-Wide programs are heldin the outdoor amphitheater where camp spiritruns high and friends are made for a lifetime!

Boys and Girls inGrades 4-9 (Sept. 2011)The Y’s action-packed, multi-sport program isdesigned for the sports enthusiast. Boys and girlsenjoy a variety of sports along with free swim andred cross swim instruction each day. Using the 450acres at the Henry Kaufmann Campgrounds, trainedstaff work with campers to increase coordination andself esteem while developing skills needed for allsporting events. Day trips to ball games and amuse-ment parks as well as 2-day trips for 4th-5th graders & 3-day away trips for 6th-9th graders make this program even more exciting.

Campers in grades 6-9 (Sept. 2011)Combine day camp activities with the excitementof travel and you’ve got just what your tween islooking for. Not quite grown up but needingmore independence, Tweens is the perfect wayto begin. Your camper will love the days spent atcamp enjoying sports, archery, two daily swims, arts and crafts and personal choice activities at theHenry Kaufmann Campgrounds; as well as theweekly day trips to beaches, amusement parksand shows. The highlight of Tween camp is the 3day overnights to such places as Hershey Park,Club Getaway and Lake George.
