Safety training has never become such a critical issue as in the context where the labor force is unskilled in both knowledge and techniques in Myanmar despite that Myanmar over the past years has transformed rapidly with it opening up to trade and encouraging FDI, setting up the momentum for drastic development and long-term growth. Especially with the large supply of natural gas placing itself amongst South East Asia’s major energy exporters, Myanmar Oil & Gas has reached $10.8 billion of total FDI approvals from fiscal year of 2005/06 to September 2010. With the increase in numbers of cross-border investors comes greater demand for skillful and qualified workforce. The quest for competency to ensure health, safety and operation efficiency has therefore become one challenging issue for many Oil & Gas companies. With our primary focus on standardized solutions for skilled and well-trained labor, PVD Training hopes to help enhance safety awareness and increase competence of the local workforce. Hence, on August 5 th of 2014, PVD Training proudly presented its first safety training workshop in Yangon, Myanmar: Hydrogen Sulfide (H 2 S) Safety Training. H 2 S is a deadly poison. Small amounts of hydrogen sulfide occur in crude petroleum, but natural gas can contain up to 90%. Thus, its biological effects post serious threats to all personnel working in petroleum industry, those at high risk of being exposed to Hydro Sulfide. The training is required for those working in the field in Oil & Gas industry to gain the awareness of the hazards of working in an H 2 S environment and to be well-equipped with basic to advanced skills to fol- low a response strategy to H 2 S exposure and to rescue casualty of its poisoning. The course was conducted in one day, covering the following theory and practice: Properties and Hazards of H 2 S Biological effects of H 2 S Methods of detecting and monitoring H 2 S: Breathing Apparatus/Escape breather familiarization: features of breathing apparatuses most commonly in use (SCBA & SABA); and the generic instruction of pre-use inspection, operation and after-use inspection Rescue Emergency Response Portable Gas Tester Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) Course content was developed based on the international standards set by OPITO. Upon course completion, the delegates were granted PVD Training certificates, which have been recognized and appreciated by different operators and contractors worldwide, to be named a few as Petronas, Seadrill, Shelf Drilling, KS Drilling, UMW and etc. Courses was conducted by experienced instructors with years of expertise in Offshore Safety, at Myanmar Oil & Gas Enterprise (MOGE), Thaketa Offshore Supply Base furnishing the participation of more than 22 delegates from MOGE, different operators, drilling contractors and oil & gas service companies Myanmar. Successfully conducted first H 2 S Safety Workshop in Yangon, Myanmar “Training is not about the Course outline, Training is about changing your behaviors.” - A favorite quote from one of our safety trainers.

Safety training has never become such a critical issue as
in the context where the labor force is unskilled in both

Myanmar over the past years has transformed rapidly
with it opening up to trade and encouraging FDI, setting
up the momentum for drastic development and
long-term growth. Especially with the large supply of
natural gas placing itself amongst South East Asia’s
major energy exporters, Myanmar Oil & Gas has
reached $10.8 billion of total FDI approvals from fiscal
year of 2005/06 to September 2010. With the increase in
numbers of cross-border investors comes greater
demand for skillful and qualified workforce. The quest
for competency to ensure health, safety and operation
efficiency has therefore become one challenging issue
for many Oil & Gas companies.
With our primary focus on standardized solutions for skilled and well-trained
labor, PVD Training hopes to help enhance safety awareness and increase
competence of the local workforce. Hence, on August 5th of 2014, PVD Training
proudly presented its first safety training workshop in Yangon, Myanmar:
Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) Safety Training.
H2S is a deadly poison. Small amounts of hydrogen sulfide occur in crude
petroleum, but natural gas can contain up to 90%. Thus, its biological effects post
serious threats to all personnel working in petroleum industry, those at high risk
of being exposed to Hydro Sulfide. The training is required for those working in
the field in Oil & Gas industry to gain the awareness of the hazards of working in
an H2S environment and to be well-equipped with basic to advanced skills to fol-
low a response strategy to H2S exposure and to rescue casualty of its
poisoning.
The course was conducted in one day, covering the following theory and practice:
Properties and Hazards of H2S
Biological effects of H2S
Methods of detecting and monitoring H2S:
Breathing Apparatus/Escape breather familiarization: features of breathing
apparatuses most commonly in use (SCBA & SABA); and the generic
instruction of pre-use inspection, operation and after-use inspection
Rescue Emergency Response
Portable Gas Tester
Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
Course content was developed based on the international standards set by OPITO.
Upon course completion, the delegates were granted PVD Training certificates,
which have been recognized and appreciated by different operators and
contractors worldwide, to be named a few as Petronas, Seadrill, Shelf Drilling,
KS Drilling, UMW and etc.
Courses was conducted by experienced instructors with years of expertise in
Offshore Safety, at Myanmar Oil & Gas Enterprise (MOGE), Thaketa Offshore
Supply Base furnishing the participation of more than 22 delegates from MOGE,
different operators, drilling contractors and oil & gas service companies
