A case study:

For the new construction o a rehabili-

tation clinic, a modern building com-

plex eaturing unusually uturistic ar-

chitecture was planned 5 stories and

a 15,000 m net area. In accordance with

the requirements o the architect, only

the best building materials and products

were to be used. In this way, the archi-tect not only ensured that his high de-

mands regarding rigidity were met, but

also his expectations relating to the vi-

sual impact o the concrete.

The contract was awarded to a large

concrete manuacturer who has been

working with TV Rheinland or many

years. The experts rom TV Rheinland

tested the newly developed high-

strength concrete and its constituents.

They were also commissioned with the

monitoring o the manuacture in the

ready-mixed concrete plant as well as its

processing on site. During a later con-

struction stage, it became necessary to

report on the acade cladding o natu-

ral stonework and its anchoring, thus

opening a urther eld o operations or

the specialists rom TV Rheinland.

When it comes to civil engineering, TV Rheinland can provide convincing

planning and renovation o existing inrastructure quite a central task

or all municipalities.

A case study:

The civil engineering department o a municipality specied

the testing, the evaluation under the aspects o double-entry

accounting and the development o the necessary recon-struction measures or the municipal road network includ-

ing pedestrian areas, a bridge and a tunnel.

Thanks to its comprehensive technical skills, both in the check-

ing o structures and in road condition surveys, TV Rheinland

was able to oer a complete solution or the trac inrastruc-

ture and was awarded the contract or the entire package.

First o all, the road network was checked and assessed using

special measuring vehicles. Innovative accredited measuring

systems digitally recorded the substance characteristics o

the roads, such as cracks and patches. At the same time, the

longitudinal and transversal evenness o the roads was de-

termined using laser technology. In this way, the condition

o the roads could be assessed quickly, precisely and reliably

without impeding the fow o trac.

In order to prepare a well-ounded concept or the mainte-

nance works which would integrate type, scope and priority

level o the construction, the causes o the deects had to be

determined. For this purpose, non-destructive measurements

o the load-bearing capabilities o the road construction werecarried out at the dama ged areas using the Falling Weight

Defectometer.

During the examination o the bridge according to DIN 1076,

the cooperation with TV Rheinland also paid o. All deects

were discovered thanks to an automated and highly sensitive

permanent monitoring, the bridge could remain in use until

reconstruction work was carried out without risk.

Finally, TV Rheinland was also able to convincingly answer

all questions regarding the saety o the tunnel. And all these

operations were coordinated by the project manager rom

TV Rheinland real added value or the head o the munici-

pal civil engineering department.
