SUCCESS Newsletter Hello SUCCESS TRiO Family, We want to remind you all that if you are taking sum- mer courses at Pacific and need tutoring come talk to us. We will be in the office all summer! Our Sum- mer hours will be from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Lastly, congratulations! We all made it through the 2016-17 school year! It has been a great school year filled with socials, workshops, support groups, field trips, and community service. April/May Success Highlights Stockton Homeless Shelter Fundraiser Throughout the Spring semester SUCCESS students helped raise $550 dollars and over 1100 items for the Stockton Shelter for the Homeless. On April 29th, some of the SUCCESS students along with staff went to the shel- ter to donate the items and money, and also spent time playing with the kids. They ended the day by hosting a cookout, in which they cooked 150 hotdogs for shelter residents. If you are interested in helping with a future donation drive please contact Nathan Biggerstaff at the SUCCESS office! UC Merced Graduate Forum SUCCESS students were able to explore graduate school opportunities at the 2017 California Forum for Diversity in Graduate Education held at UC Merced on April 8th. The purpose of the forum is to attract low income first generation underrepresented students to pursue graduate education. San Francisco Field-Trip Our students were able to spend Saturday April 15th, learning about San Francisco and its history. They were able to walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, visit Fort Point, and explore Pier 39. Nacho Social On April 18th Students took a short study break in order to enjoy delicious nachos while they chatted with staff and students. A mini de-stress session with CAPS was held in order to help students prepare for finals. This was our last social for the school year!

Alumni House GraduationOn April 28th, the SUCCESS program honored the 2017 graduates at the Alumni House. Students were recog-nized with certificates for their dedication and participa-tion in the program. Each student was presented with a certificate, a congratulatory letter from Congressman Jerry McNerney, SUCCESS padfolios and stoles! Martin Gonzales - former General Academic Tutoring Center Manager at University of the Pacific, Rosie Russo - Coor-dinator for Housing Administrative Operations at Uni-versity of the Pacific, and Lisa Cooper Wilkins - Assistant Superintendent/ Vice President of Student Services at Delta College were awarded the Friends of TRiO award for their endless support and commitment to SUCCESS.
