Shri. Gurudatta Hegde (25th Rank) and
Laxman Nimbaragi (104th Rank) was
organised on 9-6-2014.
10. Creative Response Forum has conducted
various sessions on different subjects. Our student Shri Raghavendra Kuppelur has
written two books of which one book “Plat form No 3” has got award and cash prize of
Rupees 5000/-.

Parents Expectation
1. The parents expressed their views with regard to the fact that the children enrolled in the college were
equipped in terms of gaining knowledge in their respective fields and grow up as good human beings in the
society.
2. The employers wish to seek good infrastructure to be built on par with the latest technology such as
Computers and Internet, LCD Boards, LCD Projectors etc. In all the class rooms in order to create conducive
atmosphere to carry out research work.

3.26 Major Activities during the year in the sphere of extension activities and Institutional Social Responsibility
1. One Day Campus Cleaning Programme and plantation of saplings was organized by the staff of Garag police
station on 03-08-2014. Shri B.S. Lokeshakumar , Superindendent of police, Dharwad inaugurated the
programme. Our College NSS volunteers participated in this programme.
2. On 24-09-2014,One Day Cleaning Progamme at Karnatak University Dhawad Campus was organized. It was
inaugurated by Dr.D.G.Hajavagol, NSS Co-ordinator, NSS Cell Karnatak University Dhawad . Our College
NSS volunteers along with various college NSS volunteers participated in Karnatak University, Dharwad
Campus cleaning programme.
3. The “WORLD NON-VIOLENCE DAY” was observed on the occasion of mahatma Ghandhi Jayanti and
Birth Anniverssary of Lal Bahaddur Shastri on 02-10-2014. On this occasion “Sarva Dharma Prarthana” was
organized.
4. Our College NSS units in association with Field Exhibition Office ,Directorate of Advertising and Visual
Publicity(DRVP) Bangalore, organized 5 days “ Photo Exhibition of Swami Vivekanand from 19-11-2014 to
23-11-2014 at Alur Venkata Roa Sanskritaka Bhavan, Dharwad. The Exhibition was inaugurated by
Principal Dr.S.S.Kattimani and shri P.G.Patil Field Exhibition officer of DRVP was present.
5. On 01-12-2014, our NSS units in association with National AIDS Control Organization and Karnataka AIDS
Prevention Society Dharwad, Organized AIDS Day HIV/AIDS awareness programme. After the Programme
Essay and Speech Competition was conducted for volunteers.
6. Our College NSS units in association with „Nehru Yuva Kendra, Dharwad‟ Celebrated 151st Birth
Anniversary of Swamy Viveknand in the College campus on 12-01-2015.On the same occasion Essay and
Speech Competition was conducted and winners were felicitated.
7. On 19-01-2015,”National Youth Day” was observed. NSS units in association with Nehru Yuva Kendra ,
Dharwad Organised a Rally in order to bring awareness among the Youths.
8. Two Day Training Programme was Organized by our College NSS units in association with Rajiv Gandhi
National Institute Of Development Shri Perumbadur (Tamil Nadu) for SC NSS Volunteers on the subject
“Personality Development and Communication Skill” on 26th and 27
th, February 2015. More than 200 SC
students participated and were benefited by this training programme.
9. Blood Donation Camp was Organized by our College NSS units on 15-03-2015. Dr.V.H.Arli, principal,
Karnataka Science College inaugurated the Camp. More than 105 volunteers participated in Blood Group
Checkup and 55 volunteers donated blood to save the society.
10. The Annual NSS Camp was Organized in the village Salakinakoppa (District Dharwad) from 20-12-2014 to
26-12-2014. Under the “Grameen Nairmalya Yojana” 25 toilets were constructed. Every day in the evening
special lectures on various subjects like, “Grameen Arogya and Nairmalya”, Protection of Women and
Society”, “Self Employment and Pashusangopane”, “General Disease of Women and their Remedy and

Precautions “.Youths role in providing justice in the Development of villages” etc were arranged to bring
awareness among villagers.
11.Our Coy conducted the” Swacha Bharat Abhiyan “at Nirmal Nagar Park ,Dharwad on 21-12-2014.Our NCC
students with help of local people make the progamme grand success.
12.Our Coy organised the Drug Abuse rally on 27-11-2014 to make the younger generation aware of the Evil
habit.

5.1 Contribution of IQAC in enhancing awareness about Student Support Services
5.2 Efforts made by the institution for tracking the progression
IQAC is instrumental in executing or implementing various student support activities
through various bodies like Gymkhana, NCC, NSS, Grievance Redressal Cell, Career and
Counselling Cell, Students Welfare Office, Creative Response Students Forum, Youth Red-
cross Wing, Departmental Study Circles etc.
The IQAC made the students aware about the different support schemes and services
available to the students in the colleges. For eg, The students were made aware about
different government scholarship schemes like SC/ST/OBC/Minority scholarships/DATTY
scholarship/Vidyashiri scholarships etc. They were also provided information about
different carrier options available to them after completing graduation.

5.8 Details of gender sensitization programmes
1. On Jan 29th 2015, a Seminar for B.A. VI semester students was conducted by the Vision Fly
Foundation on “Career Path”. Around 150 students attended the Seminar and were
benefitted.
2. An Orientation Class for IAS/KAS/IBPS Examination aspirers was conducted by PACE Director
Shri. Parswanath Palbhavi. The BA VI semester students were benefitted immensely by this
Orientation Program.
3. Award Winning Film “TIRUVU” was screened on 20-02-2015 for nearly 300 students. There
was an interaction session for the students with Director and Actors of the movie. This special
program on”Film making and Photography “ was a grand success.
4. A Collage Exhibition was Organised on 23rd and 24th Feb,2015 along with the Creative
Response Students Forum. Mr. Ashok Oulkar and Mr. Raghunath Pawar exhibited their
Collage works and spoke on several aspects of Collage and how it could be taken up as a
profession.
5. Special Program on HEALTH AWARNESS was Organised by Career and Counselling Cell in
association with the Department of Cultural Activities Gymkhana, Dharwad on 13-10-2015.

More than 400 students and staff members attended and interacted with the Resource
Person.
1. On the occasion of International Womens Days Celebration, Dr.(Smt). M.R. Hiremath SWO of
Karnatak Arts College, Dharwad organized “Self Protection Training Camp” for girl students of
undergraduate courses, in association with commissionerate of police and Ranichannamma team
from 23-03-2015 to 29-03-2015. Shri Ravindra Prasad IPS, Police Commissioner, Hubli-Dharwad
inaugurated the training camp, Principal Dr.S.S. Kattimani presided over the inauguration function
and Vice Principal Dr. (Smt). Rajeshwari M. was also present. Smt. Isebella Xevior, Social activist
and Dr. Usha Murthy, former principal of our college and social activist were felicitated on this
occasion for their achievements. In this camp “Karate” training and “Rifle” training were
conducted for girl students. Around 49 girl students participated in rifle training and more than 65
girl students participated in Karate training programme during this period. Participants appreciated
the training program and got confidence about self protection.
2. One day workshop on 31-03-2015 was organised by our college ladies association. In one of the sessions of workshop Dr.Kousar N Jamadar, Professor, B.D. Jatti Homeopathic College and
Hospital, Dharwad spoke on “ Womens‟ Health Problems and Maintenance”. She explained about
the Womens‟ general diseases and precautions to be taken for such diseases. Girl students interacted with resource person about healthcare.

On 11-08-2014 Pratibha Puraskar, for topper in 9 faculties of Karnatak Arts, Science and Music
colleges was arranged. Cash prizes of Rs 1000/- each to 9 students were given in the name of Prof.
C.S. Kaddipudi, the donor and Ex-President of Alumni Association, KCD.
Shri R.S. Salimath, Retired Principal of Karnatak Science College presided over the function.

Most of our teachers are in BOAE, BOS. They contribute to the best academics by suggesting
relevant books and topics in framing the syllabus.
Since our college is recognized as Research Centre, most of our teachers guide research
students for M.Phil and PhD in their respective subjects.
Some of the teachers have undertaken UGC major and minor research projects.
Some of the teachers are engaged in giving consultancy services free of cost for the needy
persons.
Journalism department has started publishing Fortnightly by name „KCD Samachar‟ in regional
languages.
Students and Teachers have worked together in conducting Intercollegiate Level Youth Festival
in our college this year.
Most of our staff members are involved in the conduct of central valuation of Karnatak
University Dharwad for Under Graduate Courses.
Students are encouraged to publish their Stories, Poems at individual level under the Bhav
Sangam forum.
Most of teaching faculty are presenting their research papers in National and International
Seminars/ Conferences within and outside the Country.

Strength:
The College is located in the most convenient area and surrounded by Hostels, both for
girls and boys, run by the University and also by state Government.
Good infrastructure including the monumental building erected during the British regime.
There are well built class rooms equipped with modern facilities, wide playground, gardens
and central library with a number of Rare books, journals and e-journals.
Large number of subjects are being taught in the college. Unique subjects like
Anthropology, French, Philosophy, Yoga, Religion, Linguistics, Criminology, Urdu and
Persian, Marathi, Sanskrit, Music etc. It is a matter of a pride to further add that a few
subjects listed above are being taught only in our college in the entire north Karnataka.
Our college has exclusive Health Centre for both staff and students.
NCC wing and two units (A and B) of NSS are functioning to encourage students to take
part in various activities and are also extending the services to the society.
Separate quarters are made available for both Teaching and Non-teaching faculty.
Students Grievance Redressal Cell is functioning in our college and redressing grievances
of students.
Honouring and awarding the alumni at the Pratibha Purskar as they are an inspiration to

Weaknesses Lack of regular teaching and non-teaching faculty.
Students from Bellary, Raichur areas and from other rural areas are coming in large number
to take admission in this prestigious college. Number of students seeking admission is on
the increase every year. The college is finding difficult to provide accommodation facility
to all these students.
Since majority of the students are from rural areas ,they do not have the background of
soft skills. Hence students have lack of awareness about soft skills.
Because of the semester system at Degree level , students feel that, they are over
burdened and they show least interest in participating in sports and other extracurricular
activities. Students’ participation in sports and other activities is not up the mark.

Opportunities College Gymkhana gives wide range of opportunities to develop personality of students
through various departments like Debate and Wallpaper, Cricket, Hockey, Indian Games,
Athletics, Volleyball, Football and Cultural Department.

Girl Students have an opportunity to explore their talents by participating in various
activities conducted by ladies association of our college.
Students have an opportunity to participate in Debates, Elocutions, Sports, Cultural activities

Activities reflecting Goals and Objectives for the Academic year 2014-15
On 10.9.204 the Department of Political Science Public Administration and Human Rights
organized a Seminar on “SAARC” organinisation an Analysis”, Dr S.S. Patagundi delivered a
special lecture.
Under the banner of” Bhava Sangama‟ two books written by our College students Raghavendra
Kuppelure were released.
1. The Novel “Platform No. 3” was released on 22-09-2014 by Smt. Jayamma H. Kuppelur.
On this occasion prominent writer Shri Shamasunder Bidarakundi conducted “Kalpita
Sahity Kavi gosti” for young writers
2.“Heengadra Hanga?” second book was released by Professor H.V.Prakash. On this occasion
Chief Guest, poet Allaigiraja advised the young writers to adopt humanity in writing and in
their lives.
It is proud to say that our student Raghavendra Kuppelur is awarded “Kannada Cooli Rama
Jadhav” award and Cash Prize of Rs.5000/ from Kannada Kriya Samati
K.S.R.T.C,Bangalore.
On 8th
October 2014 BAIII Semester and BAV Semester students were taken for an Industrial
visit to Gokak Mills Ltd. by the Department of Economics. The students gathered information
and prepared the report and submitted to the Department of Economics.
The English Study Circle in collaboration with the Youth Red Cross and the Department of
Psychology Organized a special lecture to bring in awareness amongst youth on “Mental
Health” on the occasion of International Mental Health Day on October 10th 2014. Dr. Aditya
Pandurangi, Assistant Professor in DIMHANS, Dharwad who was the speaker on the occasion
gave a very inspiring talk motivating the youth to be brave enough to fight against their fears.
The staff and students had an interactive session.
Two Day UGC Sponsored National Seminar on “The Contribution of Non-Muslim Writers to
Urdu Language and Literature”was organized by the Department of Urdu and Persian at
Karnatak Arts College Dharwad on 18-19,October 2014.

On 01-12-2014 NSS Units in association with Dharwad District AIDS Control and preventation,
arranged a special lecture on HIV/AIDS (deadly disease) ,its control and prevention .On the
same day, Essay and Debate Competitions an the above subject were arranged for NSS
volunteers to bring awareness about this deadly disease.
UGC Sponsored Two Day National Seminar on “Translation:State and Issues” was held on
20th & 21
st ,December 2014 were organized by Karnatak Arts College ,Dharwad.In four sessions
of seminar Translation:Kannada into Kannada in which Kannada and Tamil, Kannada and
Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu, Kannada and Hindi , Kannada and Marathi, Kannada and
Urdu, Kannada and Sanskrith, Kannada and English, Kannada and French were discussed by
different resource persons. It was inaugurated by Prof.Saratchandran Nair, Director ,National
Translation Mission,Mysore ;Prof.Pradhan Gurudatta ,Renowned Translator, Mysore gave key
note address.Further,Prof.L.N.Aurora,Rtd. Professor and Renowned Translator, Mysore, Prof.
H.M. Maheshwaraiah, Central Institute of Indian Languages,Mysore;Prof.B.Tarakeshwara,
Department of Translation Studies, English and Foreign Language University, Hyderabad
shared their knowledge with participants.
The annual NSS Camp was organized at the village Salakinakoppa (Dist:Dharwad) under the
“SAMPURNA GRAMEEN NAIRMALYA YOJENE” from 20-12-2014 and 26-12-2014.More
than 25 toilets have been constructed by NSS volunteers during this period. Every day in
evening special lectures on various subjects were arranged to bring the awareness in villagers
and our students about various Social problems.
The Chairperson of the English Study Circle with a group of students attended a Seminar on
“Tribute to Shakespeare and his Plays” and a talk on Shakespearean Plays Drama and
Theatre and Shakespeare organized by the Rangyanna Dharwad on 19th and 20
th January 2015.
On 23-01-2015 “Economic Fest” was organized .In this Fest there were Debate, Essay Writing
, Drawing ,Quiz and Speech Competitions on various Economics Themes were conducted and
prizes were distributed to the winners. Dr. J.M. Nagayya, Director , Students Welfare Officer
inaugurated the Fest and Principal, Dr. S. S. Kattimani presided over the function vice Principal
Dr.Rajeshawari Mahesharahai was the special invitee.
On 24-01-2015 a State Level Seminar on the subject “Emergence of India as a Super
Economic Power-Its Dimensions” was organized by Department of Economics .The seminar
was sponsored by the faculty members of the different Departments of the College. About 200
UG students of various Colleges of Dhawad-Hubli, Gadag, Haveri, Ramadurg, Belgaum,
Mudabidri, Mysore, Bangalore, Mangalore etc. participated in the seminar as delegates and 26

students presented their papers on various aspects of Indian Economy. For the Best Five paper
presentations, prizes were announced. Sushma Patil of Karnatak Arts College , Dharwad ,
Vinod Kumar of St. Joseph College, Bangalore and Siddaram Waddar of Mrithyunjaya
College, Dharwad won first, second and third prizes respectively. Three technical sessions on
three concepts such as “Trends in the Development of Industry and IT Sectors” ,” Trends in the
Development of Agricultural Sector of India” and “Trends in the Development of Trnsport,
Trade and Banking Sector of India” were conducted.
National Voters Awareness Programme 2015 was organized on 24.01.2015 in collaboration with
district administration. Shri. P. Rajendra Cholan D.C inaugurated the function. Dr. C. S. Patil,
the Dean of Karnatak State Law University was the guest speaker
Prof. R.V. Horadi (Retd) of Department of Political Science ,Karnatak Arts College, Dharwad
spoke on the subject “Globalization and India” on the occasion of the inaugural function of
Political Science. Principal, Dr. S. S. Kattimani presided over the function and Dr.
S.N.Hullannavar HOD was present.
On 27.1.2015 Career and Counselling Cell in collaboration with Vision and Foundation Trust
had organized One Day Seminar on the topic “Career path”. PACE Director Prashwanath
Halabhavi conducted orientation classes for IAS/KAS/IBKS aspirants
A “Campus Drive” was conducted on 6.2.2015 by IBMC Bangalore in Collabaration with the
student Welfare Section, 14 students were selected.
One Day Workshop on” Public Administration –“Oluvugalu and Dimention” was organized
on 10-02-2015.Dr. Ushamurthy former Principal of Karnatak Arts College , Dharwad
inaugurated the workshop and spoke on the subject “Importance of the study of Public
Administration”. Dr.P.A.Polic Patil (Retd) and Shri Chandrakant Lokur(KAS) were Resource
persons in the workshop.
On 19.2.2015 for the benefit of the students “Career Opportunities and training” Workshop was
organized in the College.
On 20.2.2015 an award winning film was screened, it has got award in filmmaking and
photography section. There was dialogue with the director and artists.
The English study circle organized for an Essay and Poetry Competition to celebrate the
“WORLD MOTHER TONGUE DAY” on 12-02-2015.
On conducted on 26 and 27 February 2015 our College NSS units in association with Rajeev
Gandhi National of Youth Development Shri, Perambandur (TN), organized Two Day
Workshop for SC,NSS volunteers. In this Workshop Eight resource persons spoke about
Personality development , Awareness about the use of skill in languages. Sri Ramandeep
choudry inaugurated the workshop and at the valedictory function Government of India‟s

Karnataka state unit NSS Officer Sri Arun Poojar was the Chief Guest. Both of them appreciated
the program.
One Day Workshop on “Importance of Human Rights and Implementation” for B.A and
B.S.W. students was Organized on 12-03-2015. Dr. Lohit Naikar vice president of K.S.R.T.C
Ltd, Bangaloor inaugurated the session and spoke on “Birth of Human Rights and
Development”. Dr.N.R.Balikaiand Dr. P. C. Mulagund were resource persons and gave lectures
on the subjects “Implementation of Human Rights and Right to Information act” and “
NAREGA YOJANE”. Vice Principal , Dr.Rajeshwari M. presided over the function .
On 23.3.2015 Ladies association of the collage organized a One Day Workshop on
“Empowerment of Women towards Profession and Progress” The girl students attend the
workshop in large numbers
In collaboration with the District Police Commission rate our Students Welfare Officer
organized Self Defense Rifle and Karate training for specially girls students college from
23.3.2015 to 30.3.2015. On International Women`s Day Specially achievers(ladies) Were
felicitated.
On 26-03-2015, the Field study survey for Public Administration subject students was
arranged. 75 students and 5 professors visited and gathered information from Shri Krishna Milk
Product PVT Ltd. at Yallapur Taluk(North Canara District).
Two Day UGC Sponsored National Seminar on “Relevance of Saint Literature (With
reference to Hindi and Kannada)‟ was organized by the Department of Hindi on 27-28,
March2015 at Krnatak Arts College Dharwad.Dr.Shiddaling Pattanashetty,Rtd Professor
,Karnatak Arts College Dharwad and Renowned writer , inaugurated seminar and Dr. Tarikeri,
Professor, Kannada University, Hampi was Chief Guest.Verious aspects relating to subject
matter were discussed in different sessions. In the valedictory function, Dr. B.Y. Lalithamba,
Rtd. Profesor, Devi Hahilya University, Indoor and Prof. Tippeswami, Rtd. Profesor, Mysore
University, Mysore were Chief Guests.Principal, Dr.S.S.Kattimani,presided over the function
and vice principal, Dr.Rajeshwari Maheshwaraihw was also present.
The Department of public Administration organized a field trip to Shri Krishna Milks pvt Ltd.,
Yellapur on 27.3.2015 The students went to the same in large numbers

Celebration” for College girl students .Dr. Noorjahan.N.Ganihar, Professor ,PG Education
Department KUD inaugurating the workshop spoke on the subject “Disparity in Gender,
Women Empowerment and Importance of Education”. Dr.Kousar.N.Jamadar, Professor, B.
B. Jatti Homoeopathic College and Hospital ,Dharwad spoke on “Ladies Health Problems and
maintenance”. She explained about the general health problems of ladies and precautions to be
taken and also conducted interaction session with students about health care.In the third session
Dr.Leena .S.Patil, Shri Satya Sai Institute of Home Science Dharwad spoke on “Ladies You
Become Employer”. She explained how one can become self employee and various facilities
available for such employment.
Youth Red Cross organized for a Special Lecture on “Put a Stop to the Drop” on April 20th
2015 by Dr. Jagadeesh Gudagur, Head, the Department of Geology, Karnatak Science, College
Dharwad in collaboration with the Psychology Study Circle and the English Study Circle in
Karnatak Arts College, Dharwad. The Special Lecture was a grand success as many students
attended the same and participated in a very interesting interactive session.

Activities of Creative Response Students‟ Forum (CRSF) for the academic
year 2014-15
1. The first session began on 25th
of July2014 with a theme of “Kargil Vijay Divas”.
The students observed this day by sharing their views about the Kargil war.
2. On 08-08-2014 the second session began with the topic “CARTOONING”. The resource
person Mr.A.R.Joshi and students together made this session an interesting one.
3. In the session on 01-01-2015, discussion on the topic “SUBVERTS OF TODAY‟S YOUTH”
was held. It was of the opinion of almost all the students that, today‟s youths are influenced by
magical world of technology and also they are getting diverted to unwanted things.
4. The session on the topic „The books I read‟ was held on 10-01-2015. Different books of
different tastes were discussed among the students.
5. CRSF in association with the Department of Debate and Wall Paper , Organized an Inter
Collegiate Workshop on “Communication and Life Skills” on 15-02-2015. More than 100
students from various Colleges of Dharwad District, participated in the workshop and gave a
good response . This was conducted exclusively by Mr. Dev Sujoy and Mr. Jayasheel Balmi of
the “Factory Of Thought”.
6. A “Collage Exhibition Cum Workshop” was conducted for two days i.e. on 23rd
and 24th
of
February 2015. This gained very good response by the students and visitors of Hubli-Dharwad.
It is the essence of life, and this exhibition, added an essence to the beauty of life.
7. On 13-03-2015, the Arts students of our College were glued to the projector as a short
inspirational film was displayed. The short films having social theme gave a message to the
students.
