RT SERIES

ENGINEERING SPECIFICATION

1.0 COOLING TOWER

1.1 GENERAL

Furnish an induced draft, counter-flow, factory-assembled cooling tower, manufactured by REYMSA Cooling Towers, Inc., and equal in all respects to REYMSA (1) RTU-303102-A cooling tower model. The cooling tower consists of one (01) body & basin section, with one(01) fan duct(s).

1.2 THERMAL PERFORMANCE

The cooling tower has the capacity to cool 50 U.S. GPM of water, from 95 Deg. F to 85 Deg. F, at a design entering air wet-bulb temperature of 78 Deg. F.

Thermal performance is certified by the Cooling Technology Institute (CTI) in accordance with CTI Certification Standard STD-201. In addition, the manufacturer guarantees that the cooling tower meet the specified performance conditions when installed according to plans and per the guidelines established in the cooling tower manufacturer’s Installation, Operation & Maintenance (IOM) Manual.

2.0 CONSTRUCTION

The cooling tower shall be designed and constructed to withstand wind pressure of no less than 30 pounds-force per square foot (psf) on external surfaces. The top of the cooling tower’s body shall be designed and constructed to withstand a live load of no less than 40 psf in addition to the concentrated loads of the fan or other equipment mounted thereon.

2.1 BODY & BASIN SECTION

The Cooling Tower has one (01) seamless piece body & basin section, water-tight and leak-proof, constructed of high-performance resins with corrosion-resistant Fiberglass Reinforced Polyester (FRP) with Ultraviolet (UV) resistant. The Fiberglass Reinforced Polyester (FRP) walls must have a thickness no less than 1/4 inch; also, to ensure the structural strength, the framing structural members, the basin’s structure, walls and bottom must be specially reinforced. A high grade Isophthalic Polyester Resin with UV inhibitor is only be used for the manufacturing process. No side fasteners will be allowed in the sidewalls of the basin. There are no metal supports or structure in direct contact with water

Following water connections are furnished:

Hot Water Inlet: 2 1/2 in Water make-up: 1/2 in

Cold Water Outlet: 2 1/2 in Drain: 1 in

Overflow(in): 3/4 in Purge: 1/2 in

Fittings of 3 inch and smaller are NPT, and fittings larger than 3-inch use ANSI flange. A standard make-up water mechanical float valve is provided.

2.2 FAN DUCT

The Cooling Tower has one (01) fan duct, constructed of high-performance corrosion-resistant Fiberglass Reinforced Polyester (FRP) with Ultraviolet (UV) resistant resins. Fiberglass Reinforced Polyester (FRP) material has a thickness no less than 1/4 inch; the fan duct are specially reinforced to ensure its structural strength. The fan Duct contains a direct-drive fan, a motor mounted on an FRP structure, and a corrosion-resistant safety screen mesh (also known as fan guard).

3.0 MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT

3.1 STANDARD FAN

The Cooling Tower contains one(01) fan(s) of 30 inch. Fan is direct-drive, with axial, propeller type, adjustable-pitch fan blades. Fan blades are manufactured of spark and corrosion resistant Fiberglass Reinforced Polyamide (PAG), and are suitable for operation on a temperature range of -50 Deg. F (-45 Deg. C) to 250 Deg. F (120 Deg. F). Fan hubs are manufactured of a pressure die cast aluminum alloy.

3.2 FAN MOTORS

The cooling tower contains one (01) fan motors, rated at 2.0 HP and 1200 RPM.

The fan motor is single speed, Totally Enclosed Fan Cooler (TEFC), and are suitable for 230/460 Volts, 3 phases, 60Hz, continuous operation, 1.15 service factor on sine wave, NEMA Premium efficiency, severe duty – IEEE841, marine duty – meets IEEE45 IP56, and inverter rated. Fan motor’s construction is 100% cast iron and has Class F Insulation System. The fan motor meets NEMA MG1 – 1.26.6, has a Division 2 CSA certification nameplate for hazardous locations, Class I Groups A, B, C and D, and is Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Recognized CSA Certified.

4.0 FILL MEDIA MODULES

Fill media modules are fabricated from rigid, corrugated UV protected Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) sheets that are conducive to cooling water. Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) corrugated sheets form a cross-corrugated pattern with an angle of 60 degrees from the horizontal between adjacent sheets, to provide a continuous and horizontal redistribution of air and water. Fill media modules provide no less than 69 ft2/ft3 of surface area and a void-to-volume ratio of 95%. The manufacturing material, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), are resistant to rot, fungi, bacteria and organic/inorganic acids and alkalis as commonly found in cooling towers; and meet CTI STD-136. Fill media modules’ flame spread rating is less than 20 according to ASTM E84; and regarding flammability, fill media is self-extinguishing in less than 5 seconds according to ASTM D635.

5.0 DRIFT ELIMINATORS

Drift eliminators are fabricated from rigid, corrugated UV protected Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) sheets and is furnished in lightweight, easily removable sections with 2 changes in air direction to remove entrained water particles from the leaving airstream. Drift losses not exceed 0.0005% of the design circulating flow. The manufacturing material, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), are resistant to rot, fungi, bacteria and organic/inorganic acids and alkalis as commonly found in cooling towers, and meet CTI STD-136. Drift eliminators’ flame spread rating is less than 25 according to ASTM E84, and regarding flammability, drift eliminators are self-extinguishing.

6.0 AIR INLET LOUVERS

Air inlet louvers are cellular type and designed to minimize splash-out of falling water, reduce light transmission into the tower and reduce sound transmission out of the tower at minimal airside pressure loss. Air inlet louvers are fabricated from rigid, corrugated UV protected Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) sheets and are easily removable to provide access for cleaning. The manufacturing material, Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), are resistant to rot, fungi, bacteria and organic/inorganic acids and alkalis as commonly found in cooling towers, and meet CTI STD-136. Air Inlet Louvers’ flame spread rating is less than 20 according to ASTM E84, and regarding flammability, air inlet louvers are self-extinguishing in less than 5 seconds according to ASTM D635.

7.0 HOT WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM

Hot water enters into the cooling tower through a single inlet per module. All interior distribution piping is Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) schedule 40 pipes. Water is evenly distributed over the fill media by removable 2 1/2-inch spray nozzles made of Polypropylene (PP). Spray nozzles contain internal, interchangeable flow devices to provide an optimal spray pattern within the 5 psig operating pressure range.

8.0 ACCESSORIES (OPTIONAL)

8.1 VIBRATION SWITCH

The Cooling Tower is provided with one (01) vibration cut-out switch for shutdown of fan motor. The vibration switch is installed by others. Vibration switch case are equal to NEMA 3R. Vibration switch contacts are Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT)-double make leaf contacts for 5 amperes @ 480 VAC.

Brentwood fill products are available in PVC and HPVC, and are UV stabilized. The PVC compounds used inBrentwood fills have outstanding resistance to weather exposure, and are nearly impervious to chemical degrada-tion by alkalies and acids, grease, fats, oils and biological attack. PVC has an excellent fire rating due to its self-extinguishing characteristics. Brentwood PVC material meets CTI (Cooling Tower Institute) Standard 136.

AccuPac® Inlet LouversINLET LOUVERS - Nearly all induced draft water cooling tow-ers use corrugated blade type louvers to prevent water fromsplashing out of the air inlet. In the past, these louvers wereeither cement asbestos or fiberglass. Brentwood Industriesnow offers two new products to improve the operational effi-ciency and aesthetics of your cooling tower.TYPE E, BL105 - BLADE TYPE LOUVER - This louver isdesigned using special outdoor weatherable compounds ofheavy duty solid PVC to assure long-term maintenance-freeperformance. Heavy duty extruded PVC louvers offer thefollowing advantages:• Durability - PVC is extremely rugged and will not chip,

crack, flake, or corrode in normal cooling tower water.PVC is impervious to chemical attack due to alkalies,acids, fats, grease, and oils.

• Compatibility and Ease of Use - The Type E Louver isavailable in the standard 4.2 corrugation used by nearly allcooling towers. It is available in a standard width of 10.5"(267mm), and lengths up to 20 ft. (6.1m).

• Low Maintenance - Virtually maintenance-free, thesmooth surface of the louver makes it more difficult foralgae and scale to attach to it, and easier to keep clean ifthey do.

• Safety - Louvers are easy and safe to handle and cut.There are no worker hazards or special safety pre cautionsnecessary, as there are with asbestos cement or glassfiber products.

• UV Resistance - The PVC compounds used in ourlouvers are specially formulated for UV resistance.

• Colors - TYPE E Louvers are offered in standard white tolight gray for most applications, but can be purchased inquantity in most any color to match nearby buildings, etc.White or other light colors offer the best protection againstsolar heat absorption and fading.

• Fire Resistance - TYPE E Louvers are non-combustibleand self extinguishing.

CL-100 - CELLULAR TYPE LOUVER - The CL-100 CellularLouver is a special product manufactured exclusively byBrentwood Industries. It is used in place of standard bladetype louvers in a wide variety of applications. It can be usedin the air inlet for both package and field erected counterflow and straight sided cross flow towers. Fresh air make-upsystems, air pollution control scrubbers, and VOC strippersare other types of applications where the CL-100 can beutilized. The CL-100 is a simple and cost effective way to preventdebris and rain from entering, and cooling water from leaving the cooling tower, thereby saving costs in lost watertreatment chemicals and water, and minimizing near sitewater damage problems and icing.The CL-100 Cellular Inlet Louver offers the followingadvantages:• Durability - 100% PVC Construction means the CL-100

is completely resistant to rot, corrosion or chemical attack.• Low Light Transmission - The CL-100 permits very little

light to pass through due to its configuration and blackcolor. This means less chemical costs due to reducedalgae growth on the interior surfaces of the cooling towersystem.

• Ease of Use - The CL-100 comes in convenient modulesthat are 12" (305mm) wide, and up to 10 ft. (3.05m) long.

LIMITED WARRANTY TERMSREYMSA COOLING TOWERS, INC. will repair or replace any deficient product or part in the following

“______________”. The validity period is specified as follows:

FRP CASING & STRUCTURECooling Tower FRP casing & structure are warranted for a period of fifteen (15) years from the original date of shipment. REYMSA warrants that it will supply materials and labor to repair defective material or workmanship for the Cooling Tower FRP casing & structure for a period of fifteen (15) years, excluding superficial gel coat cracking, cosmetic discoloration or deterioration (at REYMSA’s option) and subject to conditions stipulated herein.

INTERNAL COMPONENTSInternal components, such as Air Inlet louvers, Fill media, Drift Eliminators, Hot water Distribution system and Spray Nozzles, are warranted for a period of five (5) years from the original date of shipment. The Mechanical Float Valve and Pressure Gauge are warranted for a period of twelve (12) months from the original date of shipment. REYMSA warrants that it will supply materials to repair or replace (at REYMSA’s option) defective material or workmanship during such five (5) years warranty period, subject to conditions stipulated herein.

FANSFans are warranted for a period of eighteen (18) months from the original date of shipmentto the original installation. REYMSA warrants that it will supply materials to repair or replace (at REYMSA’s option) defective material or workmanship during such eighteen (18) months warranty period, subject to conditions stipulated herein.

MOTORSMotors are warranted for a period of five (5) years from the original date of shipment to the original installation, subject to conditions stipulated herein. REYMSA warrants that it will replace or repair defective motors during such five (5) years warranty period, as follows:

▪ During the first 2 years after the original date of shipment, REYMSA will replace or repair (at REYMSA’s option) the defective motor, if the Purchaser and/or End user delivers the motor to a manufacturer authorized service center within 14 days of the date on which the defect was discovered.

▪ After the beginning of the 3rd year and through the end of the 5th year, REYMSA will pay a prorated amount toward the replacement or repair (at REYMSA’s option) if the Purchaser and/or End user delivers the motor to a manufacturer authorized service center within 14 days of the date on which the defect was discovered.

▪ Purchaser and/or End user shall give REYMSA a written report on the cause of the motor failure from a manufacturer authorized service center, within 30 days after such Service Center have received the defective motor.

▪ A pro-rated payment represents the dollar amount equal to the percentage of the remaining warranty period that results from dividing the number of months remaining on the original warranty by the total months of the warranty (60 months).

▪ This warranty excludes motor damages caused by water, ice, improper wiring or improper use of VFD’s

THERMAL PERFORMANCEREYMSA warrants that the RT Towers meet the performance standards set forth in CTI Standard STD-201, when the equipment is installed in accordance with REYMSA’s Installation, Operation and Maintenance Manual (IOM) and good engineering practices. Performance altering operations, such as reduced horsepower or fan speed changes, voids CTI Certification.

LIMITED WARRANTY CONDITIONS ▪ All obligation of REYMSA under this warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of defective

materials, at REYMSA’s discretion , F.O.B. original shipping point or EXWORKS factory.

▪ This warranty does not obligate REYMSA to bear cost of labor (unless stated otherwise), transportation, handling or other costs incurred in connection with the repair or replacement of defective parts.

▪ Receipt by REYMSA of notice from Purchaser and/or End user, within warranty period, containing a description of defects. In the case of defective motors, Purchaser and/or End user also shall give REYMSA a written report on the cause of the motor failure from a manufacturer authorized service center, within 30 days after such Service Center have received the defective motor.

▪ The defect shall not be caused by factors like accident; alteration; corrosion or physical deterioration caused by the exposure to the elements; abnormally corrosive or abrasive environment; splits or de-lamination in FRP external wall or other FRP components caused by an overweight condition due to improper water treatment; fill clogging due to water scale or highly contaminated environments; normal wear and tear; wrinkling or separation of glue or mechanical joints in fill media and drift eliminators; pigment and cosmetic discoloration or deterioration; heat exchanger leak or other foreign object damage; damage due to operating temperatures above those recommended in REYMSA’s IOM manual; equipment abuse, like hydraulic water hammering; and/or neglect or operation against prevailing industry standards.

▪ Any repairs to FRP casing & structure by REYMSA shall be done to restore casing condition as near to new condition as practicable, as determined in REYMSA’s sole opinion.

▪ Purchaser and/or End user shall not have attempted to correct the defect without REYMSA’s written authorization.

▪ The Purchaser and/or End user shall have installed, operated and maintained the equipment in accordance to REYMSA’s Installation, Operation and Maintenance (IOM) Manual in effect at the date of shipment, and also in accordance with prevailing industry standards and practices, which include, but it is not limited to, proper cold weather operation practices and adequate water treatment.

▪ This limited warranty only applies to REYMSA RT series Factory-assembled cooling towers.

▪ All non standard purchased equipment, such as electrical equipment, motor controls, basin heaters, or any other items not manufactured by REYMSA, are excluded from this warranty and will carry the standard warranty provided by its manufacturer.

▪ This limited warranty is non-transferable.

LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY ▪ This limited warranty contains implied warranties, including the warranties of merchantability and/or

fitness for a particular purpose.

▪ REYMSA’s total liability for damages related to the performance or failure to perform, shall be limited to the amount of the contract price and in no event shall either party hereto be responsible or held liable to the other for any special, indirect, incidental or consequential damage, including, but not limited to, loss of profits or revenue, loss of use of equipment, cost of replacement tower or additional expenses incurred in the use of facilities.
