1. All the dimensions are in mm Unless Noted Otherwise.

2. Dimensions of the block out shall be generally in accordance with the drawing.

3. Block out shall be cleaned thoroughly and must be free of dirt and debris.

No loose concrete shall be present in block out as per MORT&H specifications.

4. Expansion joint shall follow deck profile.

5. Neoprene seal shall be continuous.

6. Main reinforcement in the deck to be integrated in the anchor loops / cross bars for

proper bond and anchorage.

7. Opening minimum 5 mm.

8. The installation shall be supervised by the representative of manufacturer.

9. The joint shall be installed only after wearing coat is laid & required groove is cut.

10. The grade of concrete in block out shall not be less than that of concrete in deck

slab with 20 mm down size aggregate.

11. The concrete in block out shall be cured continuously for a minimum of 7 days

before installation of glands.

12. Concrete slump, w/c ratio, etc., shall be as recommended by Engineer in Charge.

13. Electrodes for welding edge beam, M.S. plates, etc., shall be as per

manufacturer’s specifications

MATERIAL SPECIFICATION :-

IN GENERAL, THE SPECIFICATIONS FOR MATERIALS, FABRICATION,HANDLING,

STORAGE, INSTALLATION, TEST AND STANDARDS SHALL BE AS PER THE

IRC SP-69(2011) ALONG WITH RIS OF 'MORTH'.

THE STEEL OF EDGE BEAM CONFORMS TO STEEL GRADE IS 2062 Gr.B.

THE PROPERTIES OF STRIP SEAL BE AS PER TABLE 7.4.2.2.1

FOR CHLOROPRENE RUBBER OF IRC SP-69 (2011)

01. THE GAP BETWEEN THE STEEL EDGE MEMBERS SHALL BE ADJUSTED

DEPENDING ON THE TEMPERATURE AT THE TIME OF INSTALLATION OF

THE EXPANSION JOINT USING THE CLAMP PLATE ARRANGEMENT

02. THE EXPANSION JOINT IS LOWERED IN POSITION INTO THE BLOCKOUT.

03. THE LEVEL AND GRADIENT IS ADJUSTED MATCHING WITH THE FINAL

FINISH LEVEL OF THE DECK SLAB AT THE CARRIAGE WAY.

04. THE ANCHOR STUDS ARE SECURED TO THE DECK REINFORCEMENT

ADEQUATELY BY WELDING.

05. ADDITIONAL STEEL BARS MAY ALSO BE USED TO ACHIEVE INTEGRITY

WITH THE DECK SLAB

06. NECESSARY FROM WORK IS INSTALLED.

07. CONCRETE OF DESIRED MIX IS POURED INTO THE BLOCKOUT ENSURING

PROPER COMPACTION.

08. THE CLAMP PLATES ARE REMOVED.

09. BLOCKOUTS ARE CURED SUFFICIENTLY.

10. TO MAINTAIN A UNIFORM JOINT OPENING AND EXTRUSION PARALLELISM.

A STRING LINE SHALL BE USED.

11. FOR SMOOTH RIDING OPERATION, WE RECOMMEND INSTALLATION OF

THE EXPANSION JOINTS AFTER THE WEARING COAT
