•Theoptionalauxiliarybatteryisusedforpowerfailuresandtoensurethatthepropervoltageandcurrentaremaintainedatthelogicboxwhenusingasmallergaugewireforthevehiclebatterywires.Iftheoptionalauxiliarybatteryisused,donotextendtheauxiliarybatterywires.Thiswillensurethatthepropervoltageandcurrentaremaintainedatthemonitorforittooperateproperly.Theoptionalbatteryisautomaticallyrechargedbythetruckelectricalsystemthroughthepositive(auxiliarybattery)andgroundconnectionsonthecircuitboard(Figure2).Thevehiclebatteryconnectionsmusthavepowerturnedonwheneverthetruckisrunningsothatthebatterycanberechargedproperly.Ifpossible,connectthepositive(vehiclebattery)wiredirectlytothemainvehiclebatteryormainmasterswitch.Adiodeinthelogicboxwillpreventtheoptionalbatteryfromfeedingcurrentbackintothemain trucksystem.

ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONSTheseelectricalinstructionsareforaUniversalIlogicbox.Usestyle6032UniversalIIlogicboxinstallationandoperatinginstructionsforaUIIlogicbox.(Sheet#122552)A.CONTROLBOXESANDJOYSTICKSWIRINGANDATTACHMENT TheElectricGeminiupperandlowercontrolsusethesamecontrolbox.Thefollowingstepswillprepareeitheroneorboth controlboxesandjoystickforattachmenttothelogicbox.
STEP 1 IfthecontrolboxincludesanattachedcableskiptoSTEP5.
STEP 2 Determinethelengthof#20-7cableneeded,add10inches,thencut.Forexample,ifafivefootlengthofcableisneeded,add10inchesandcutthecable5foot10incheslong.
STEP 3 Removethecablegripnutandwasherfromthecontrolboxandputitonthecablewiththethreadsfacingthebox.Onthesameendofthecableremove4inchesoftheoutercasingofthecableandstripback3/8inchfromeachofthe7wires.
STEP 4 Removethefourcontrolboxcoverscrewsandsetthecontrolboxcoveraside.Threadthe7wiresthroughthecablegripattachedtothecontrolboxandattachthemtotheproperterminals.Reattachcontrolboxcoverandsecurewiththefourscrews.Tightenthecablegripnutandwasheronthecabletothecablegriponthecontrolboxtosecurethecable.
STEP 5 Removethecablegripnutfromtheplasticbagandputitontheotherendofthecablewiththethreadsfacingout.Remove6inchesoftheoutercoverandstripback3/8inchfromeachofthe7wires.
STEP 6 Removethe6logicboxcoverscrewsandsetthelogicboxcoveraside.Threadthe7wiresthroughtheupperorlowercontrolholeinthelogicbox(seecomponentlayout,Figure3).Threadthecablegripwasherandcablegripnutwiththethreadsfacingtheboxonthecable.Pullenoughcablethroughthecablegriptoensureagoodfit.Tightenthecablegripnutandattachtheindividualwirestotheproperterminals(seewiringschematicFigure2&2A).Reattachthelogicboxcoverandsecurewiththe6screws.
NOTE: The lower control and upper control wires must be attached to the correct terminals for the lower control to override the upper control. None of the functions can be controlled from the upper control box when any of the switches on the lower control box are activated.
B.MONITORWIRINGHARNESSATTACHMENT Theseinstructionsaretoattachthemonitorwiringharnesstothelogicbox. STEP 7 Removethecablegripnutfromthelogicboxforthewiringharnesscable.DONOTREMOVETHECABLEGRIP.Put thecablegripnutonthewiringharness(#16-6)cablewiththethreadsfacingout.Putthecablethroughthecorrect logicboxcablegrip(seecomponentlayout,Figure3)sothecablegripnutwillgrabtheoutercoverofthecable. Tightenthecablegripnutandattachtheindividualwirestotheproperterminals(seewiringschematicFigure2).

C. BATTERYATTACHMENT Thebatteryconnectionsshouldbethelastconnectionmade.
STEP 8 AUXILIARYBATTERY-Removethelogicboxcablegripnutfortheauxiliarybatteryandplaceitonthebattery(#16-3) cablewiththethreadsfacingout.Threadthecablethroughthecablegripnutuntilthecablegripwillgrabthecable. Tightenthecablegripandattachtheindividualwirestotheproperterminals(seewiringschematicFigure2).
NOTE:AuxiliaryBatteryisnotintendedtooperatethemonitor.
STEP 9 VEHICLEBATTERY-Removethelogicboxcablegripnutforthevehiclebatteryandthreadontothebattery(#10-2or #12-2dependingonlength)cablewiththethreadsfacingout.Threadthecablethroughthecablegripuntilthecablegrip nutwillgrabthecable.Tightenthecablegripnutandattachtheindividualwirestotheproperterminals(seewiring schematicFigure2).Reattachthelogicboxcoverandsecurewiththe6screws.
NOTE: To supply enough current to operate the monitor properly, adequate wire size is critical.
D. MECHANICALMONITORATTACHMENT TheMonitoristobemountedonthewaterwaywith5⁄8inchboltsandnutsofgradefiveminimumandsuitablewasherswitha minimumofsixthreadsengagement.ThefrontofthemonitorinFigure4isconsideredtobepoint4andisabovethe identificationtag.Theboltsmustbetightenedinacrisscrosspatternprogressivelyincreasingtighteningtorquetoamaximum of100poundfeetdry.
NOTE:Notrecommendedtomountonaraisedflangeorhaveabutterflyvalvebetweentheflanges.Thismaycausedamage tothemonitor’sflangewhentighteningthebolts.
THEROTATIONALANDELEVATIONSTOPSSETTHEBOUNDARIESFORTHEAREAINWHICHTHEMONITORISALLOWEDTO TRAVELANDMEETSTHEREQUIREMENTSOFTHENFPA.Theupperrowcontrolstherighttravel,andthelowerrowcontrolsthe lefttravel.Theanglesfortherotationalstopsarewithrespecttothe“referencedirection”illustratedinFigure4.Themonitoris shippedwiththeupperrowstopatpoint5whichstopsthemonitorat90˚right,clockwiseandthelowerrowstopatpoint3 whichstopsthemonitorat90˚left,counterclockwise.Allotherpositionsareachievedbyswitchingthefactorysetstopand thepluginthedesiredstoplocation.Boththestopsandtheplugshavea1/2inchhexhead.RefertoFigure4todetermine whichstoplocationisneededforthedesiredright,clockwiseorleft,counterclockwiserotation.Theelevationstopsetsthe upperlimitoftheelevation.Themonitorisshippedwithelevationstopsat45°abovehorizontaland90˚belowhorizontalto meetNFPA.AllotherverticalpositionsareachievedbymovingtherollpintothedesiredlocationsasindicatedinFigure5.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONSA. UPPERANDLOWERCONTROLOPERATION Theupperandlowercontrolboxesareusedtocontrolthemonitorandnozzle.Tochangethenozzlepatterntowardthe “straightstream”or“fog”positionpressthepropertoggleswitchtoward“STRAIGHT”or“FOG”respectively.Tochangethe horizontalmonitorpositiontowardthe“RIGHT”or“LEFT”pressthepropertoggleswitchtoward“RIGHT”or“LEFT” respectively.Tochangetheverticalmonitorpositionupwardordownwardpressthepropertoggleswitchtoward “RAISE”or“LOWER”respectively.
THELOWERCONTROLBOXFUNCTIONSWILLOVERRIDETHEUPPERCONTROLBOXFUNCTIONSINCOMPLIANCEWITHTHE REQUIREMENTSOFTHENFPASTANDARD.NOTE:THELOWERCONTROLANDUPPERCONTROLWIRESMUSTBEATTACHED TOTHECORRECTTERMINALSFORTHELOWERCONTROLTOOVERRIDETHEUPPERCONTROL.NONEOFTHEFUNCTIONS CANBECONTROLLEDFROMTHEUPPERCONTROLBOXWHENANYOFTHESWITCHESONTHELOWERCONTROLBOX AREACTIVATED.

MANUALOVERRIDECONTROLS THEMANUALOVERRIDECONTROLISTOBEUSEDWHENTHEPOWERTOTHEMONITORISOFF.Twooverridecranksare attached,oneofthehorizontalcontrolandonefortheverticalcontrol.Bothofthemare1/4inchinsize.A1/4inchAllenwrench willalsoactuatetheoverrides.Tousethemanualoverridepullthekeypinwhichholdstheoverridecrankinplaceandinsertthe hexheadendoftheoverridecrankinthehexagonshapedholebesidethecrankstoragebracket.Thenrotateorspinthe overridecrankeitherclockwiseorcounterclockwisetoaimthemonitorinthedesireddirection.
WHENTHEOVERRIDECRANKSARENOLONGERINUSEPUTTHEMBACKINTHESTORAGEPOSITION.DONOTUSETHE ELECTRICCONTROLSWHENTHEOVERRIDECRANKSAREBEINGUSEDORAREINPOSITIONFORUSE.

MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONSYourElectricGeminimonitorandnozzleshouldbeinspectedpriortoandaftereachuse,toensureitisingoodoperatingcondition.Periodically,anunanticipatedincidentoccurswheretheElectricGeminiismisusedinamannerthatisinconsistentwithstandardoperatingpracticesandthoselistedinIFSTA.Apartiallistofpotentialmisuseincludes:•Operatingabovemaximumratedpressureandflow.
•Notdraining,andallowingwatertofreezeinside.
•Prolongedexposuretotemperaturesabove130°F,orbelow-25°F.
•Operatinginacorrosiveenvironment.
•HavingtheElectricGemininozzlehitafixedobjectduringoperatingortransportation.
•Othermisusethatmightbeuniquetoyourspecificenvironment.
Alsotherearemany“telltale”signsthatindicaterepairisinorder,suchas:
•Controlsthatareeitherinoperableordifficulttooperate.
•Excessivewear.
•Poordischargeperformance.
•Waterleaks.
Ifanyoftheabovesituationsareencountered,theElectricGeminishouldbetakenoutofservice,repaired,andtestedbyaqualifiedtechnicianbeforeplacingitbackinservice.
MOTOR REPLACEMENTToreplaceeitherthehorizontalorverticalrotationalmotors:1.DisconnectPowerfromtheunit.2.Loosenandremovethefoursocketscrews(Item54onthePartsList)fromthegearboxhousing.3.Slowlyremovethemotorassembly(25)andgearboxhousing(6)fromtheunit.
IMPORTANT: Make sure the internal gear, (Item 20 on the Parts List), remains in place, (hold with a screwdriver), to avoid gear alignment problems.

4. Loosenandremovethefoursocketheadcapscrews(48)fromtheinsideofthegearboxhousingthatholdthehousingandthemotorassemblytogether.
5. Removegearboxhousing(6)fromthemotorassembly(25).
6. Replacebotho-ringseals(27&21)onthegearboxhousing(6).
7. Attachthenewmotorassembly(25)tothegearboxhousing(6)makingsureallfourscrews(48)aretight.
8. Installthemotorandgearboxhousingassemblytotheunitmakingsureallfoursocketscrews(54)aretight.Itmaybenecessarytorotatethemotorslightlytogetthemotorgeartolineupwiththegearsinsidethegearbox.
9. Restorepowertotheunit.
10. Testtheoperationoftheunit.
