STAGE 5PRACTICUM SCHOOL
Practicum is where students work as counselling trainees with clients. Students will be supervised throughout this pro-cess. This is an ideal opportunity to learn how to integrate your counselling skills to suit the needs of individual clients. During this week you will also have a guest speaker who will provide you with strategies for starting your own practice.
Entry RequirementsStudents applying for a VET Fee Help Loan must meet the VET Fee Help Language Literacy and Numeracy requirements.
Alternatively if you can provide a copy of their Senior Secondary Certificate (Year 12 certificate) you will not have to complete the Core Skills Profile for Adults Assessments.It is recommended that you have sufficient relevant work experience in a job role involving: the self-directed application of knowledge with substantial depth in some areas, the exercise of independent judgement and decision-making, the application of relevant technical and other skills.
IT Requirements:Students require access to the following IT resources:• A computer with a broadband internet
connection and internet browser• A word processing application • A spreadsheet application • A presentation application
Course Delivery and DurationThe training is delivered over a period of 12 months via a combination of face to face sessions and self-paced learning. Face to face training blocks are conducted once a month for the first 5 months. Each face to face training block consists of 5, one day sessions commencing at 9.00am and finishing at 3.00pm.
Following each 5-day block students have 3 weeks to undertake research, self-paced learning and assessment activities. During the 3 weeks following each face to face block your trainer is available via phone, internet and skype.
After the 5 months structured training program you have 7 months of ongoing support to complete your self-paced learning and assessments.
Students also have the option of completing their studies online.
Units of CompetencyThe following units of competency are included in the CHC51015 Diploma of Counselling.
In order to be awarded this qualification, you must satisfactorily complete all of the assessments for every unit of study.

Course Cost & Payment Options
Maximum tuition fee $12,006. Students accessing a VET Fee Help loan will be required to pay additional loan fees and charges as part of their loan agreement with the Australian Government. The current loan fee is $2401.02.
