Intensive Reading
Tip Number One
After every 5-7 pages of reading, do 5 minutes of exercise.
This can include light weight lifting, a quick jog or sprint, or push-ups/pull-ups. It keeps your blood flow and heart rate up, keeping you alert and focused.
Tip Number Two
Take a break every 20-30 minutes.
Allowing a short break gives your brain time to recover, and process the material.
Tip Number Three
Change the location of your studying place.
Try studying in other places, like the local library, or in your classroom early.
Make sure it’s somewhere quiet, with minimal noise level.
Tip Number Four
Drink plenty of tea or water.
Staying hydrated keeps your body healthy and happy, which will help you in remembering material.
Tip Number Five
Color coding helps.
Use different colored highlighters/pens while note-taking, helping you to recall the material.
Tip Number Six
Listen to soft music.
Classical songs keeps you motivated and concentrated. Avoid loud or aggressive music.
Tip Number Seven
Talk out loud to yourself or talk to someone about what you’ve learned.
This allows you to recall the material you were reading.
Tip Number Eight
Eat healthy snacks.
Avoid unhealthy foods like chips, candy, or fast food.
Tip Number Nine
Sleep 6-7 hours each night, at a regular time.
Keep a regular sleep pattern, if you normally fall asleep at around 10pm, maintain that time slot.
Tip Number Ten
Quiz yourself on the material. And then reward yourself with each correct answer. Create your own rewarding system, example: each right answer = a piece of candy, or an added minute for the next break.
