STUDIO + THINKING The Annual Senior Art Show May 15 - June 7, 2014 Phillips Exeter Academy’s Art Department and the Lamont Gallery are proud to feature STUDIO+THINKING: The Annual Senior Art Show, a dynamic exhibition of over 200 works created by the Academy’s seniors. This year’s exhibition includes work in a variety of media, including photography, painting, industrial design, printmaking, drawing, and ceramics. Sketchbooks, visual journals and other tools from the artistic process are also on view. The show is open to all seniors who have completed a visual arts course while at Exeter. Lakin Vitton ‘ 14, Digital Photo The Art Department offers over 15 studio courses at varying levels, and this exhibit represents each of the courses and the visual problem solving that takes place in the studios. Students’ conceptual and technical development is supported by cutting-edge technology, exposure to art history and contemporary art practice, and enhanced by field trips and visiting artists. Recent visiting artists include William Wegman, Ayumi Horie, and Elizabeth Gill Lui (P’95). Phillips Exeter Academy’s art instructors are practicing artists, infusing the curriculum with their own experience in the field. Art faculty members include Tara Misenheimer, Steve Lewis, Carla Collins, Becky Barsi, and Larry Gene Howard.

Phillips Exeter Academy’s Art Department and the Lamont Gallery are proud to feature STUDIO+THINKING: The Annual Senior Art Show, a dynamic exhibition of over 200 works created by the Academy’s seniors.

This year’s exhibition includes work in a variety of media, including photography, painting, industrial design, printmaking, drawing, and ceramics. Sketchbooks, visual journals and other tools from the artistic process are also on view. The show is open to all seniors who have completed a visual arts course while at Exeter.

The arts are a vibrant part of Academy life. Student works are displayed throughout the year in the Frederick R. Mayer Art Center, as well as in the Class of 1945 Library, the Phelps Academy Center Agora, dorm common areas and other locations on campus. A number of students in STUDIO+THINKING have been the recipients of Scholastic Art Awards.
