tRANSPORTStudent life is can be a busy time, with so much going on you can some-times forget about travelling and transport. And while its sounds very sim-ple planning a trip wheter for a night out, to college or going home at the weekend can be lost in everything. So its always a great idea to have a timetable, phone number or even an app handy so you are never left wondering about times because there is nothing worse than missing that

bus or train home on a friday or that bus to college in the morning.Travel is an expensive part of college at time so make sure to avail of student travel deals and cards, these are usually available on campus from student union offices. Things like monthly saver tickets and booking tickets in advance online is also a great way to bag yourself a bargain.

Doesn’t matter how sober or drunk you are or where you live always either walk with friends, get a bus or a taxi and if its a thing you may not have money after a night out check your student union office and

see if any cab companies are offering pay later deals.

So your free for the first time in your life, and with this freedom you might let it

go to your head a bit, well don’t we are not saying be a party pooper and skip

class nights out but always remember to pace your social nights out and make as many lectures as you can. It may seem like your not missing much but believe

me when it comes to those all important exams or assignments every bit of infor-mation from those classes you decided

not to skip could help you lots.

Always try to make it to class

The one big trap a lot of new students tend to fall into when starting college is to not bother bringing a simple notepad and pen to certain lectures, especially

ones that will have things like powerpoints available to them online after. And while you make think it will be just easier to sit and listen, most lecturers tend to give a few extra hints and tips about upcoming

assignments or exams that may not be on the slides so no matter how small the pad is have one and a pen with you just to jot down notes you think may help you. Again

this will help you in the long run

Study & exams

It may seem like a minor issue but planning and preper-ation are key to a successful college life, from assign-ment planning, studying to meeting deadlines and giving yourself the time to do the research and plan out how you will tackle each issue head on. You may think cramming study the night before an exam or burning the midnight oil trying to get an assignment done, but your more than likely to make basic mistakes and not be completely focused.

Time keeping & Preperation

As boring as it sounds, studying is probably the least favourite part of college life, but its one of the essential parts of helping you have a success-ful college life. So remember its better to study a few hours a night coming up to an exam rather than trying to cram it all in the week of an exam or the night before. Now we don’t mean you go crazy straight away but maybe putting notes to-gether and having a look at them to keep things fresh in you head could be better than trying to force too much in the night before.

The one key bit of advice we can give for an exam you have whether an in class exam or the christmas and summer exams is to not panic. Preperation, time management, good notes and information is key to helping you prepare. Don’t over think any subject more than another, look through previous exam papers, organise study groups and also make sure you have down time between studying and exams such as getting fresh air, go for walks, a session in the gym. And also make sure you have a balanced diet this helps the stress and the body and mind

GRADES/EXAM RESULTSNo one likes getting a bad mark or grade, but remember its not the end of the world especially at the start of the college year. If the mark you get isn’t the best then look through the paper and see where you made mistakes, this is a great way of seeing where you need to improve.also seek feedback from your lecturer and get advice and study tips, maybe look at getting extra tutition from a fellow classmate or look a study group.
