Every question that popped into my head as I was reading was answered, except I wish there was a more organized and
strict order shown in which the class would do units - or are there even units?1 4.17%
Everything is clear and specific. There is no room for questioning and gives a simple, straight forward outline of the class.
Though, it is a little bit intimidating especially for new freshman.1 4.17%
Expectations are clearly stated and the syllabus is a half-way point, perfect for the transition from middle school to high
school.1 4.17%
Hardware operating system-what about Windows Vista? 1 4.17%
I almost didn't read the syllabus because I couldn't find the link for it... the place where it says "Course Syllabus" and has a
list of links below it blends in too much with the other text so I almost missed it. Also, when you list the grading scale in the
course syllabus, I see that it is on a regular scale. I think that it should be on honors so that they get used to working with the
honors grading scale.
1 4.17%
I did the course over the summer myself, and it was a good overview of what I experienced. 1 4.17%
I especially liked the Course Goals and Expectations, but I think the idea of an online course can be very disorganized. 1 4.17%
I thought the syllabus explained the course really well. The syallabus was organized really well into its different sections.
Everything was short and reader-friendly, but gave enough information to give a person a really good idea of what the
course would be like.
1 4.17%
I'm not sure, but is there anything that they need to do before to prepare them for the course? Is there anything that they arealready supposed to know? What are they to do if they do not have the ability to fulfill all the online requirements?
1 4.17%
It gave a very descriptive summary of what will happen in the class. Also enough information so that one shouldn't fail
because they will always be there to help. The online requirements would be hard for the students to get and a lso might hurt
their learning experience.
1 4.17%
It gives a very detailed overview of the course: the expectations, assignments, grading scale and policy, and student conduct. 1 4.17%
It might be helpful to talk about the topics you will be studying (cell structure, life cycles etc.) so kids can know what they
will be learning through the course, not just the skills they will lea rn.1 4.17%
It says everything you need to know. 1 4.17%
It showed what would be done in the class and talked about some of the main things that will be learnt. 1 4.17%
It shows students basics for learning and good strategies to taking good notes, getting key information, etc. It also shows you
how to use Excel and other programs for useful skills. (data tables, putting data table info. to make graphs, etc.)1 4.17%
It tells us that we will be learning necessary skills such as note taking and report writing through the course. The language is
short and clear, so it's easy to understand. It doesn't however tell us how the course plans on teaching us these skills.1 4.17%
It's good because it explains how you grade, what they'll leran the requirements for the computer so you can actually use the
The directions are clear, but they could be more specific. 1 4.17%
The directions are very clear, but there are many. Maybe they should be a little more consise. However, I feel like thereshould be a way for students to ask questions about the instruction to the teacher while they are working at home. Also, the
teacher as to be willing to answer the questions and/or check the emails or messages with the students questions.
1 4.17%
The directions/instructions are quite clear, but may arise some questions. Explaining this thoroughly on the first day of the
course will be great.1 4.17%
The instructions are easy to follow most of the time. 1 4.17%
The instructions could be more clear of where they are . They might be confused of which directions to follow. If you have a
large title of directions/instructions, surely no one will get lost.1 4.17%
The overview has clear directions and explains what will be expected in the course. 1 4.17%
There aren't clear step-by-step directions. 1 4.17%They are clear directions. The language is easy to understand and is very straight forward. However there were parts of the
powerpoint that were somewhat hard to read due to the small text or seemed intimidating because of the long paragraphs.1 4.17%
They were pretty clear on what was to be done. 1 4.17%
They're short, quick and straight to the point. 1 4.17%
Yes, the directions for the course are very clear, however some of the requirements are not fair. Like having a computer for
on-line assignments.1 4.17%
You can easily see what you need to do for each module. 1 4.17%
the end to make sure you really understand the material.
I thought for most of the modules, they were flowing. It was module 4, that I thought was a little less flowing then the
others. I thought that the evaluating websites video did not explain things as well as the power point that was created. I think
that the video explained some things, but should have been put before the power point so the power point could clarify somethings that the video did not. The second video was fine and the quizzes in the beginning and end of the module were good.
The other modules were really good.
1 4.17%
It clearly builds up as you progress through the module, but each activity seems very separate which makes it a little choppy.
It would be nice if each directly goes in to each other.1 4.17%
It contains all parts and is easy to read. Also each step is in order. 1 4.17%
it flows well, and tells you what to do so you can finish it easily 1 4.17%
It flows well, but I feel like some parts are talked about too much. I think the students need less instruction and more
practice.1 4.17%
It includes everything you need to know. 1 4.17%
Some modules seem like they can take a while. 1 4.17%
Some of it has things from the previous module in it, so sometimes it doesn't work with the current module. 1 4.17%
Sometimes I feel that a module is just a block and then you move to the next one. I think it would be better to have
notetaking and thinking maps in 1 module rather than 2.1 4.17%
The module flows good, but they might confuse the students. 1 4.17%
The module steps follow a certain order that is quite easy to understand. 1 4.17%
The modules flow and are very organized and easy to follow. 1 4.17%
the modules flow well from beginning to end because each one starts with the learning topics and then goes on into theintroductions and then goes farther into detail (this is a very nice pattern to follow during each module)
1 4.17%
The modules state the learning objectives/targets, then show the videos, and then offer activities requiring the person to use
the information from the videos.1 4.17%
The modules were well written and easy to understand. 1 4.17%
They make sure that each module is completed and they want it completed by a certain time (within the 6 week period)
Group work is a major part of Honors Biology and these activities prepare them for working with new people and how to
make sure everyone does the same amount of work.1 4.17%
I didn't think the activities really encourage the interaction with other students in the class because it seems that the modules
and activities felt more like they were to be done indiviual. I think that in some ways there could be better encouragementfor interactions between other students.
1 4.17%
I only saw one module that offered an activity that had to be completed in groups. 1 4.17%
I think because students will not be literally face to face with other students, they will not likely fee l encouraged to get the
ideas and opinions of other students.1 4.17%
I think that most of the skills discussed would be ones that I would encorporate into my work when I was working solo, such
as doing my homework. I think that when I would use those skills the most would be at times when I was doing individual
work.
1 4.17%
I think this is a good way to communicate and interact with other students in this class online. It is also a good way to
communicate with the teacher without having to wake up early and go to summer school everyday.1 4.17%
It involves a few group projects. 1 4.17%
It said that there were projects and other activities that encouraged interation with other students so yes. 1 4.17%
It's all independent work, so how does it encourage them to interact with other students? 1 4.17%
Many of the activities involve working with other student, encouraging them to interact with one another. 1 4.17%
Most are on your own or independent 1 4.17%
Some activities encourage interaction with classmates, but a lot of them (especially worksheets) can be done alone. 1 4.17%
Some of the activities include getting into groups during the class and says it helps to learn with others. 1 4.17%
The activities don't really require the involvement of other peers. Just telling someone to post comments in the forum andreview three others doesn't really spark a huge amount of interaction. Try to use group projects that forces kids to interact
and meet others in person.
1 4.17%
There could definitely be more places to interact with students either through chat or otherwise where you could login and
talk to each other live.1 4.17%
They allow the student to get ideas from the responses of other students, but not to the extent where they can copy another
student. Maybe working with another student on certain projects would induce them to think more carefully.1 4.17%
