Each time you enrol to study with a new training organisation, your USI will be used to store your training records and results.
By having a USI you will be able to access your training records and results (or transcript) whenever you need them. For example, for a new employer or when you enrol to study at a new training organisation.
Your USI can be accessed online from your computer, tablet or smart phone and gives you access to your training records and results. To create your USI, visit the website usi.gov.au.

STUDENT SUPPORT
VET STUDENT LOANS (VSL) A VET Student Loan is a loan from the Australian Government that helps eligible students pay their tuition fees. Your loan is repaid through the Australian tax system when you reach the minimum income threshold for repayment. The minimum income threshold for repayment is set by the Australian Government each year and is published on Study Assist. Repayments continue until you have repaid your entire debt.
It is important to note that your loan will remain a personal debt until it is repaid and it may reduce your take-home (after tax) wage and your borrowing capacity. You may wish to seek independent financial advice before applying.
The amount you can borrow for your tuition fees is determined by the Australian Government and in most cases, there are three bands of VET Student Loan Caps ($5075; $10,150 and $15,225) set for each course.
A VET Student Loan is only for tuition fees and doesn’t cover additional costs such as text books, materials, or accommodation.
For more information and eligibility requirements please visit: tafeqld.edu.au/vet-student-loans
BKSB At TAFE Queensland, the approved assessment tool for VSL eligibility is called bksb (basic key skills builder). It is an online assessment tool that provides an overview of your learning strengths and determines your English and maths levels.
You can do the test online in your own time, on campus in a classroom environment, or in a TAFE Queensland campus library at a time that suits you. TAFE Queensland will work with you to achieve your study goals.
For more information on bksb go to tafeqld.edu.au/bksb or ask your teacher for more information.
