Home study activitySing Let’s Play with your child. Take turns singing both parts. Have your child find a ball and a jump rope in your house. Suggest that you and your child play outside, saying Let’s play. Then encourage your child to agree and choose what to do. Have your child say OK. Let’s play (ball). When you have finished playing ball, ask your child to suggest another activity, saying Let’s (jump rope).
Help your child find a small writing board at home and put it on a table. Say to your child Point to the board. Then have your child give you instructions.
Conversation: I can fly a kite.I can’t fly a kite.
Activities: ride a bicycle, sing a song, fly a kite, bounce a ball
Home study activitySay the I Can chant together with your child. Help your child say I can (fly a kite). and then you should say I can’t (fly a kite). Then your child will say I can (ride a bicycle.) and you will say I can’t (ride a bicycle). Switch roles so you say I can (sing a song). and your child says I can’t (sing a song). Now sing Let’s Play with your child. Say Let’s play. and encourage your child to say Ok. Let’s (play ball). Have your child bounce the ball and say I can bounce a ball.

Home study activitySay the Can You? chant with your child. Ask your child Can you wink? Have your child answer Yes, I can. or No, I can’t. If your child can’t wink, then teach him or her how to wink. Switch roles and have your child ask you Can you (dance)? Answer Yes, I can. or No, I can’t. If you can’t dance, have your child teach you a dance. Continue with the other two verbs, swim and smile.
Home study activityHave your child practice saying the letters (Xx, Yy, Zz) and beginning or final sounds with you. Ask your child to sing The Alphabet Song along with the audio. Have your child draw pictures of the phonics words and write the first or final letter of the word under each picture. Point to each picture and say the words with your child, helping your child to listen carefully to the sound of the letter learned. Listen to The XYZ Chant and chant it together.
Home study activityLook at different kinds of calendars in English (paper calendars or digital calendars) with your child. Point to a day of the week and encourage your child to say It’s (Friday). Take turns and practice all the days of the week. Exercise with your child saying I can touch my (knees). Have your child draw pictures of the activities he or she can do. Then have your child point to each picture and say I can (ride a bicycle). Switch roles and you share what you can do. Then talk about what your child and you can’t do. You may wish to learn how to do one of those things you can’t do.
