It is commonly agreed that education takes form in both the student’sacademic and social experiences. Whether it comes from listeningto the lyrics of Pink Floyd or from the inspired thoughts of MarkTwain, it is understood that the insight and understanding that canbe achieved in a learning environment such as university is comparable to none. With UK educational institutions under heavy financial stress, higher education is more valuable than ever.

Friendship is a key component to university lifestyle. Like the TaoistYin-Yang, friendships peform a dual role during university. They canbe dynamic forces that will cause trouble while providing support simultaneously. In this piece, Amy Moran & me are used as modelexamples of a friendship stretching over 6 years- stressing the sheerimportance of our university experience together. Friends help eachother grow, keep each other safe and enjoy each others company.

One of the special things about the unversity experience, is thenumber of opportunities and achievements that are provided forstudents every day. Whether you are a student society committeemember, a student academic representative, or whether you justtake pride in your work; University has it all. Student activitieshave long been important factors, but as the job climate gets evermore difficult they become even more crucial.

Keele Campus represents the student’s experience of discoveryperfectly. These discoveries range from the many historical andhidden landmarks, such as the hidden amphitheatre, the gothicKeele Hall, the underground tunnels and even the way the seasonsdrastically change the campus appearance. The real whirlwind ofdiscovery that develops during university life occurs as a result ofrapid personal growth.

STUDENT EXPERIENCEThe Student Experience is the cumulation of all of the elements Ihave identified throughout this feature. We learn to enhance ourexperience and we educate ourselves inadvertently every day withour many friendships and discoveries just as much as during our ac-ademic endeavours. Everyday, students experience new sensationsnot all of which are necessarily enjoyable and with every experiencewe build ourselves into who we will become.
