LAKE NORMAN CHARTER SCHOOLINTRODUCTIONThis Parent and Student
Handbook replaces all prior versions of this document; however, it
is not all-inclusive and may be amended as policies change. This
handbook has been designed to offer you a handy reference to
pertinent information you might need this school year. Familiarity
with the contents should help you be better prepared. Throughout
the year, you may need to refer to this handbook. We encourage you
also to ask whenever you have questions. Two-way communication is
essential to a smooth operation and school year.
HISTORY OF LNCSLNCS opened for the 1998-99 school year in
temporary facilities. Our enrollment was 260 students. The school
received a School of Distinction designation from the N.C. State
Board of Education in its first two years when over 80% of its
students scored at or above grade level on ABCs testing. In each of
the next three years, LNCS received a School of Excellence
designation when over 90% of its students scored at or above grade
level. LNCS has since been recognized as an Honor School of
Excellence, the States highest academic designation, placing our
school among the top schools in the State of North Carolina. LNCS
began its second year in a modular building campus at its Church
Street location in the fall of 1999. Enrollment for the 1999-2000
school year rose to 430 students. Additional modulars were added in
the winter of 2000. By 2002-03 enrollment reached 540 students. A
wonderful new Media Center, a satellite computer lab and seven new
classrooms were added in 2003-04 and enrollment reached 635
students. In 2007, LNCS Middle School opened its new 86,000 square
foot facility and enrollment reached 750 middle school students.
Our high school opened with 9th grade at the Church Street location
with approximately 125 students. This year, our high school adds a
12th grade and will have an enrollment of approximately 705
students. With our growth, LNCS has managed to keep its low
student-to-teacher ratio and maintain a small, safe, academically
rigorous environment.
5
LAKE NORMAN CHARTER SCHOOLOUR PURPOSETo meet school objectives,
LNCS provides: A challenging academic environment A focused
classroom size with low student-to-teacher ratio in core classes A
strong discipline and honor code A strong, cooperative environment,
and professional accountability The schools curriculum is centered
on creative problem solving, critical thinking, research skills and
presentation. This environment produces self-directed students who
are capable of making an effective transition into high school and
then to college. The educational focus of LNCS is to provide a
motivating environment designed to allow students to learn in
accordance with their needs and abilities. The combination of small
class sizes, a safe school environment and the highest quality
teachers provides an excellent learning environment. The high
school offers only a college-prep pathway consisting of standard,
Honors and AP classes.
OUR CORE VALUESWe develop partnerships between and among school,
parents, and community. We provide a rigorous college preparatory
program that allows our students to be successful at their college
of choice and beyond. We develop self-directed learners that take
ownership of their academic success. We actively support student
contributions to the community through service opportunities and
environmental stewardship. We expect all stakeholders to accept
personal accountability for upholding the LNCS Honor Code. We
promote extracurricular activities that enable students to develop
self-confidence, school spirit, and leadership skills. We promote
and embrace an understanding of individual and cultural diversity.
We communicate openly to foster an atmosphere of trust and
safety.
LEADERSHIP INITIATIVELake Norman Charter School will continue to
implement a Leadership Initiative. We will integrate activities
into our curriculum at all levels that will enable our students and
staff to excel as leaders at school and in the community.
6
LAKE NORMAN CHARTER SCHOOLLNCS COMMITMENT TO STUDENTS, PARENTS
AND STAFFLNCS is committed to helping each student maximize
individual potential, develop selfconfidence, and explore personal
interests. LNCS is committed to recruiting and hiring faculty
members who are dedicated to their profession. Teachers are skilled
in their fields of instruction and work hard to maintain an
atmosphere of mutual respect between teacher and student. LNCS is
committed to developing and preparing students to be responsible
citizens and leaders through their involvement in community
projects. LNCS relies on a spirit of cooperation between students,
parents, staff, administration, community and the Board of
Directors to create a supportive learning environment for all. LNCS
promotes academic clubs, activities and competitions. Student
participation in such activities promotes academic vigor, problem
solving skills, self-confidence, and a sense of personal
accomplishment. LNCS encourages athletic endeavors where
appropriate, which we believe promote physical vigor, school
spirit, sportsmanship, and a sense of personal accomplishment.

12
LAKE NORMAN CHARTER SCHOOLRegular attendance by every student is
mandatory: Every parent, guardian or other person in the state
having charge or control of a child between the ages of seven (7)
and sixteen (16) who is enrolled in a public school in grades K-12
shall cause such child to attend school continuously for a period
equal to the time which the public school to which the child is
assigned shall be in session Public School Laws of N.C.: Gen. Stat.
115-C-378. For every absence, students must bring a note from home
stating the students name, date(s) of absence, reason for absence,
and parent/guardian signature. At the middle school, these notes
are to be given to the students first period teacher during the
morning. High school students should deliver these notes to the
main office before school. It will be the responsibility of the
administration to determine if the absence is excused or unexcused.
Students must bring in a note or their absence will be considered
unexcused. Students are expected to attend school daily. Learning
opportunities are missed when students are absent from school, and
cannot be replaced through make up work. In accordance with State
policy, absences from school will be excused for the following
reasons: Illness/injury Quarantine Death of an immediate family
member Medical or dental appointments Educational trips Court or
administrative proceedings Religious observance A physician must
certify absences of three or more consecutive days in duration.

by the Managing Director. Failure to submit appropriate
documentation will result in an unexcused absence. SCHOOL-RELATED
ACTIVITIES The following school-related activities will not be
counted as absences from either class or school: School-initiated
and scheduled activities Field trips sponsored by the school
Competitions sponsored by the school Athletic events requiring
early dismissal from school Students will complete assignments
missed for these reasons. Each teacher will determine when work is
to be made up. The student is responsible for finding out which
assignments were missed and completing them within the specified
time period.
13
LAKE NORMAN CHARTER SCHOOLPARTIAL ATTENDANCE At the middle
school, students must be in attendance until 11:30 a.m. or arrive
by 11:30 a.m. and remain for the rest of the day in order to be
counted present for the day. At the high school level, attendance
is taken on a per class basis, and students must be present for at
least half of the class period to be counted present. Students must
be in attendance until 11:15 a.m. or arrive by 11:15 a.m. and
remain for the rest of the day in order to be counted present for
the day. Students must be present at school for at least half of
the school day in order to participate in any extra-curricular
activities. For every partial day absence, students must bring a
note from home stating the students name, date(s) of absence,

OF A STUDENT Students will be permitted to leave campus early only
with parental consent. Parents must sign students out in the main
office. The student will be called from the classroom to the
office. No student will be released directly from the classroom for
any reason. In no case will a student be allowed to leave school
with anyone except his/her parent or guardian unless the school has
a note signed by the students parent/guardian. High school students
who drive themselves to school must bring a note signed by the
parent, including a contact number for the parent, to the office
before school begins. A dismissal slip will be issued to the
student after the parent has been contacted and the early dismissal
has been verified. To preserve the integrity of the classroom
environment, early dismissals will end at 2:15 at the high school
and 2:30 at the middle school. Please schedule appointments
accordingly and be mindful that students will not be dismissed
after these times. MAKE-UP WORK FOR ABSENCES Students are
responsible for, and they are permitted to, make up all work missed
during absences. All work must be made up within five (5) days
following the students return to school unless the teacher or an
administrator determines that extenuating circumstances might
support an extension of time. The student is responsible for
finding out which assignments, quizzes and exams were missed and
completing them within the specified time period. No homework
assignments will be given out prior to a students pre-planned
absence (i.e., trips). Students who are absent due to a suspension
from school will be provided an opportunity to take any
examinations missed. The LNCS Administration can determine what, if
any, other make-up work the student will be permitted to complete
due to the suspension.
14
LAKE NORMAN CHARTER SCHOOLMAXIMUM NUMBER OF ABSENCES At the
middle school level, any student with 20 or more absences in one or
more classes during a school year is subject to failure of the
grade. At the high school level, any student with 20 or more
absences in any class in a school year is subject to failure of
that class. Written notification will be provided by the school
quarterly indicating an excessive number of unexcused absences.
Students must be present at school for at least half of the school
day in order to participate in any extra-curricular activities.
CARPOOL MORNING DROP-OFF Drop-off can begin as early as 7:15 a.m.
at the high school and 7:30 a.m. at the middle school. Please use
the morning carpool procedures that have been distributed (please
contact the office if you need one). PLEASE DROP OFF ONLY IN THE
DESIGNATED AREAS AND ALWAYS FOLLOW THE LNCS CARPOOL GUIDELINES!
AFTERNOON DISMISSAL Dismissal begins promptly at 2:45 (high school)
and 3:00 (middle school). It is important that all students report
to the carpool area IMMEDIATELY when they are dismissed from
school. Please encourage your student to follow this rule. Parents
should follow the afternoon carpool procedure that has been issued
(please contact the school office if you need one). Please pick up
only from the designated areas and follow all carpool guidelines.
Please check the schools website for specific carpool instructions.
CARPOOL RULES No food or drink Middle school students must remain
seated until your number is called Remain quiet so you can hear
carpool numbers called (LISTEN for your number) Use only the
designated crossing areas and obey the teachers on carpool duty For
the safety of our students, parents should refrain from using cell
phones while the car pool line is in motion. RAINY DAY DISMISSAL
(HIGH SCHOOL) In the event it is raining at dismissal time, we will
follow a rainy day dismissal process. Students will remain in their
classrooms and carpool numbers will be called via the schools
intercom system to the classrooms. It is important that all
students know their carpool number. Students will be dismissed to
the carpool loading area when their number is called. Students
should report quickly and quietly to the carpool area and use only
the designated crossing areas and follow the directions of the
staff members on carpool duty. Please understand that this process
takes longer than our normal dismissal process.15
LAKE NORMAN CHARTER SCHOOLCARPOOL NUMBERS Every student will be
assigned a carpool number during the first week of school. Carpools
with both middle school and high school students should choose one
carpool number to use. This number should be displayed on the
rearview mirror of the vehicle picking up in the afternoons to help
expedite our afternoon carpool process. We encourage some of you,
when possible, to pick up 20 to 30 minutes after dismissal to help
stagger the carpool line. CELL PHONE POLICY In an attempt to model
for students the importance of the appropriate use of electronic
devices, LNCS has adopted the following procedure for students that
have their cell phones in sight or are found to be using them
during school hours: 1st offense: 2nd offense: The phone will be
held in the office for a parent to retrieve. The phone can be
picked up in the office by a parent and the student will be
assigned an after school detention 3rd offense: The student will be

consequences which may include, but are not limited to: additional
ASD assignment, in-school suspension, parent conference, out of
school suspension, etc. Students have access to the office phone
during the school day for emergencies or illness. They are asked
not to call home for non-emergencies such as forgetting work or
musical instruments, or to make social arrangements. Students who
do own a cell phone and choose to bring it to school are asked to
keep it securely locked in his or her locker until after school
hours to limit the disruption to the educational process.
CONFERENCES A conference is an opportunity for a childs parent(s)
or guardian(s) to meet to discuss a students progress. Building
principals will distribute information regarding the conference
schedule for their particular building. Conferences may be
requested at any time by contacting the students teacher. At the
middle school level, conferences with an entire team of teachers
should be requested through the grade-level Team Leader. At the
high school level, conferences with an entire team of teachers
should be requested through the Director of Curriculum and
Instruction.
16
LAKE NORMAN CHARTER SCHOOLEvery attempt will be made to schedule
a conference as soon as possible. The two-way communication brings
out more facts and creates better understanding of the childs
progress. The parents and teachers together form an ideal
partnership to help the student. CRISIS PLAN/EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
LNCS has a Crisis Plan/Emergency Procedures Manual that is
distributed to every staff member. Training is provided on all
emergency procedures. Drills are conducted regularly throughout the
school year. Please contact the school office if you have questions
about our Crisis Plan/Emergency Procedures. In the event of an
emergency evacuation, a designated person from each carpool group
will pick up students at LNCS and transport them to a secure
location at our designated site on the campus of the University of
North Carolina at Charlotte. CURRICULUM LNCS follows the North
Carolina State Standard Course of Study. The core classes offered
for all grades include Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and
Social Studies. DAMAGE/DESTRUCTION OF SCHOOL PROPERTY A student
shall not intentionally cause or attempt to cause substantial
damage, as determined by school officials, to school property, or
steal or attempt to steal school property either on school grounds
or during a school activity, function or event off of school
grounds. Damage or theft involving school property will result in
disciplinary action up to and including exclusion from school. The
parents or guardians may be asked to pay for the property that the
student has damaged or destroyed. DELIVERIES To protect the
integrity of the classroom environment, we do not accept the
deliveries of flowers or gifts for students in the main office.
Parents who deliver items for students (lunches, homework, athletic
equipment, etc.) should be aware that we only call students to the
office to retrieve these items at lunch and after school.
DISCIPLINE POLICY Good discipline is imperative to the success of
the school. It is helping a student adjust to the requirements of
his/her environment rather than punishment for his/her not having
adjusted. It is turning unacceptable conduct into acceptable
conduct. It is not humiliating or embarrassing.17
LAKE NORMAN CHARTER SCHOOLThe ultimate, unique achievement of
good discipline is self-discipline on the part of the students.
Each teacher/team has a plan for managing student behavior that
incorporates effective strategies consistent with the purpose and
principles established by Board policies regarding student
behavior. Teachers are encouraged to seek positive, innovative and
constructive methods of correcting and managing student behavior in
an effort to avoid repeated misbehavior and suspension.
Consequences for violating board policies or teacher/team standards
or rules may include, but are not limited to the following:
parental involvement; isolation or time-out for short periods of
time; behavior improvement agreements (contracts); individual or
small group sessions with an administrator; detention during lunch
or after school; exclusion from extracurricular activities; and
suspension or exclusion. Lake Norman Charter School is not required
to engage in progressive discipline. Some offenses are so serious
they warrant more severe consequences including but not limited to
immediate expulsion. LNCS policies and procedures for discipline of
students (including students with disabilities) shall be consistent
with state and federal laws and regulations. This policy and the
Student Behavior Code sets parameters for addressing inappropriate
student behavior. Nothing in the policy is intended to nor does it
in any way impose any additional liabilities, requirements or
obligations on the Board or the school beyond those liabilities,
requirements and obligations imposed by applicable law. DRESS CODE
& STANDARDS OF APPEARANCE FOR STUDENTS Lake Norman Charter
School desires for all students to exhibit a high standard of
personal appearance and dress while on school premises and when
attending school-related functions. Research has proven that the
manner in which a student dresses has a strong effect on her/his
attitude and behavior in school. Our dress code is intended to make
the students, the teachers, the staff, the parents and visitors
proud of our students appearance. Moderation and neatness is
expected. The teachers and administrators are empowered to monitor
the appearance and dress of the students. The schools
administration reserves the right to interpret and/or make changes
to this policy as fashion trends change and unique situations
arise.

found in violation of the dress code will be given school-issued
clothing to wear for the remainder of the school day. Depending on
the level of violation students may be instructed to call their
parents and request a change of clothes be brought to the school.
Parents are encouraged to exhibit support of these guidelines and
to provide appropriate guidance to students on acceptable attire
for school to ensure full compliance with the established

19
LAKE NORMAN CHARTER SCHOOLEXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AND
ACADEMICS Extracurricular activities are important to the total
program of any school. We believe in them and support the students
who wish to participate. Extracurricular activities are defined as
athletics, clubs, club functions, and any school-related activity
occurring before or after school. Our first obligation is to
provide the students with a good education so they can be
successful in life. Therefore, it is our responsibility to remember
that these activities are extra and secondary to academics. The
administrations position on extracurricular activities is as
follows: 1. Any student who is absent from school on the day of a
scheduled extracurricular event/practice will be ineligible to
compete or perform in that activity. Absence is defined as having
missed more than half of the school day. 2. An excused absence from
school will be an acceptable reason for missing a practice or event
occurring after school on that day. A student will not be penalized
his/her participation in future events when their absence from
school is excused. Exceptions to these rules may be permitted only
in cases of emergency or extenuating circumstances. Such a waiver
is to be made by the Managing Director or Director of Athletics.
Participation in athletics is governed by the Eligibility
Guidelines and Academic Policy for Participation in LNCS High
School Athletics and the Eligibility Guidelines and Academic Policy
for Participation in LNCS Middle School Athletics which can be
obtained through the Director of Athletics and by visiting
www.lncs.org. All student athletes are bound by these policies.
FEDERAL LAW: FAMILY EDUCATIONAL RIGHTS AND PRIVACY ACT (FERPA) 5/00
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal
law that governs the maintenance of student records. Under that
law, parents of students or students if they are at least 18 years
of age have both the right to inspect records kept by the school
about the student and the right to request that the school correct
inaccuracies in the records. Requests to review student records
should be made in writing to the Director of Student Special
Services. The Director of Student Special Services will schedule
the review as early as possible but in no case later than 45 days
from the date of the request. The review will take place in the
main office or a designated location and a school official
qualified to interpret student records will be present at the
review. LNCS may allow copies of the review to be available after
the review and may charge a fee for copies. Access to the records
by persons other than the parent or an eligible student is limited
and generally requires prior consent by the parents of the student.
LNCS20

parent or the student. School officials will notify the parent or
eligible student about the release of this information. Any parent
or eligible student who objects to the release of any or all of
this information without his/her consent must notify, in writing,
the Managing Director of the school within ten (10) days after the
date of this notice. The objection must state what information the
parent or student does not want classified as directory

beginning of the next school year. Parents or eligible students who
wish to request the School to amend a student record should write
the Director of Student Special Services, clearly identify the part
of the record that they want changed, and specify why it should be
changed. If the School decides not to amend the record as requested
by the parent or eligible student, the School will notify the
parent or eligible student of the decision and advise them of their
right to a meeting with the Director of Student Special Services.
If the School still decides not to amend the record, the parent or

LAKE NORMAN CHARTER SCHOOL
FEDERAL LAW: PARENTAL RIGHTS REGARDING SECTION 504 OF THE
REHABILITATION ACT OF 1973 Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of
1973 is a nondiscrimination statute that prohibits discrimination
and is designed to assure that disabled students have educational
opportunities and benefits equal to those provided to non-disabled
students. Under Section 504 an eligible student is a student who,
1) has a record of having or, 2) is regarded as having a physical
or mental impairment that substantially limits a major life
activity such as learning. It is the policy of the Lake Norman
Charter School not to discriminate on the basis of disabilities in
its educational programs, activities or employment practices as
required by this Act. The regulations for implementing Section 504
provide parents and/or students with the following rights: 1. You
have the right to be informed of your rights under Section 504,
which is the purpose of this notice. 2. Section 504 requires the
school to locate, evaluate, and determine if a student is a
qualified individual requiring accommodations necessary to provide
access to educational programs. 3. You have the right to receive
notice in a reasonable time before LNCS identifies, evaluates or
changes your childs placement. 4. You have the right to periodic
re-evaluation and evaluation before significant change in placement
occurs. 5. You have the opportunity to review relevant educational
records under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
(FERPA). 6. You have the right to request an informal conference
with the Managing Director, Director of Educational Operations,
Director of Student Special Services and the LNCS Board of
Directors if you disagree with the decisions reached by the school
regarding identification, evaluation, educational program or
placement. If your concerns are not resolved, you may request a
hearing before an impartial hearing officer by notifying the
Director of Student Services in writing at LNCS, 12435 Old
Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC 28078. You have the right to be
represented by counsel in the impartial hearing process and to
appeal the impartial hearing officers decision. FIELD TRIPS Field
trips are an important part of enhancing a students learning
experience. LNCS will provide field trip opportunities that provide
academic and/or character educational value for our students.
22
LAKE NORMAN CHARTER SCHOOLOne important note for parents: No
LNCS student will be permitted to leave a field trip early except
in the case of emergency or unless requested by a member of the
LNCS staff for disciplinary reasons. All students must remain with
the group for the duration of the field trip. The Managing Director
or his/her designee must approve all field trips before any dates
can be reserved, money collected and/or communications to parents
are made. Approval will be granted only if the appropriate field
trip approval paperwork is submitted according to the schools
policy. Certain trips also require approval by the LNCS Board of
Directors. Scholarship assistance is available in cases of
financial hardship. Please contact the schools Managing Director
for details. FOOD SERVICES The school does not provide a
full-service cafeteria. School groups (band, athletics,
gradelevels, etc.) normally offer pre-ordered lunches for purchase
as fundraisers. Information will be sent home as those options
become available. Students may also bring their lunch. All students
should bring their lunches the first week of school. FUNDRAISING
All fundraising activities must receive prior approval by the
Managing Director or his/her designee. No contracts may be entered
into by anyone at the school other than the Managing Director or
his/her designee. Requests for fundraisers must be submitted in
writing. LNCS relies heavily on the fundraising activities of the
PTO. In addition, smaller groups such as grade levels, band, clubs
and athletics may sponsor fundraisers. LNCS appreciates
tax-deductible cash or non-cash gifts. We encourage those with the
opportunity for employer matching funds to pursue this option.

independence, responsibility and self-direction. Homework
assignments should provide practice and strengthen skills that
already have been taught in class. In addition, homework
assignments should improve a students ability to work
independently. Assignments should be reasonable in the amount of
time necessary to complete the tasks. Homework is discussed in
class to allow students the opportunity to ask questions and
receive clarification on problems they find difficult. All student
work should be completed in a neat and timely manner. Using
anothers work, as well as giving ones work to another student, is
considered a violation of the schools Honor Code and will result in
disciplinary action. Teacher collaboration is encouraged to ensure
that the amount of time required to complete homework assignments
is appropriate, taking into consideration students developmental
maturity and the total amount of homework assigned by the team and
electives staff. Teachers should also take into consideration the
difference in technological resources of students and their
parents/guardians when making assignments. HONOR ROLL Special
recognition is given to students each quarter for high academic
achievement. Honor roll recognition is given for Distinguished
Honors (All As) and Honors (All As and Bs). Honor rolls are

of our students and staff is our first concern when deciding if our
school must close or have its opening delayed due to inclement
weather. We will do our best to make a decision by 5:30 a.m. if our
normal schedule will be changed. School schedule changes are
announced on our website and three local television stations and
their radio affiliates in the case of inclement weather or other
unforeseen emergencies. The voice mail in the main office at the

PARENT AND FAMILY INVOLVEMENT LNCS strives to maximize community
and parent involvement in as many areas as possible. Parents are
strongly encouraged to spend time volunteering in the school
classroom setting or in other non-classroom roles. However, in
order to keep classroom disruptions to a minimum, visits should be
scheduled in advance with the teacher. We also ask that parents
contact teachers in advance to schedule a conference. Each teacher
is encouraged to involve parents in meaningful ways to assist in
the classroom. This is generally coordinated through the
interdisciplinary teams and individual teachers. In order to
encourage personal responsibility on the part of the student, and
to keep classroom disruptions to a minimum, students will not be
called to the office to collect items brought by parents except
before lunch and at the end of the school day. Additionally,
parents will not be allowed to deliver items to classrooms.
Students are to be responsible for coming to school with all
necessary items. PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY
OF LNCS PARENTS TO Model attitudes and behaviors that support LNCS.
Speak positively with students about the school and staff. Address
concerns in an appropriate manner. Read and discuss with students
the Parent and Student Handbook. Adhere to all school policies and
procedures. Arrive on time and have your student remain in school
the entire day. Comply with the school calendar for vacations.
Attend to everyday health needs by assuring proper rest, nutrition,
and recreation to promote well-being and readiness to learn.
Maintain a balance between activities outside of school and school
responsibilities. PARENTS CAN ENHANCE LEARNING BY Keeping abreast
of their childs progress. Monitoring completion and achievement of
homework, projects and class work. Providing positive reinforcement
for appropriate attitudes and behaviors. Attending parent
conferences. Communicating any special concerns or needs of their
student.

LAKE NORMAN CHARTER SCHOOLSTUDENT SERVICES PROGRAM The primary
purpose for Exceptional Children programs is to ensure that
students with disabilities develop mentally, physically and
emotionally through the provision of an appropriate and
individualized education in the least restrictive environment.
Exceptional children are students who are unable to have all of
their educational needs met in a regular classroom setting without
special education or related services. Exceptional Children
programs and services are identified as both instructional programs
and instructional support services, depending upon the educational
needs of an individual student. Exceptional Children follow the
same curricula for students in general education with modifications
when necessary. The Individual Education Program (IEP) states in
writing the special education programs and services to be provided
to each Exceptional Children student. Parents of Exceptional
Children are required to provide all student records, along with
the latest IEP documentation, to the schools Director of Student
Services prior to admission. Special services will be rendered only
to those students who hold prior exceptional certification and
qualify for a 504 Plan or IEP. Parents should contact the Director
of Student Services with questions regarding student assessment.
Federal Law: Parental Rights Regarding Section 504 of The
Rehabilitation Act of 1973 Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of

or mental impairment that substantially limits a major life
