There are weekly and monthly themes coordinated with assemblies, projects, guest speakers and programs that include, but are not limited to: • Week of respect • Violence Awareness Week • Red Ribbon Week • Connections Peer Leadership/Mentoring Program • The Middle Earth Mentoring Program • Family Unity Night • The Social Norms Project FMS works in partnership with our Municipal Alliance for the prevention of substance abuse and numerous other community agencies, so we can provide educational programs that reach beyond the student and into the environment they grow in. The Student Assistance Program of Franklin Township School District is designed to ensure that the
social and emotional needs of all students and families are met, through the support systems and
programs offered throughout the school year.

Franklin Middle School 7th-8th
In accordance with the anti-bullying Bill of Rights Act (P.L. 2101,
cc122) and N.J.S.A. 18A;36-5.1, Franklin Middle School has
implemented various initiatives offering ongoing social and
emotional learning and character education to maintain a
positive school climate and create a safe, and supportive
learning environment for all students as well as age-appropriate
instruction focusing on preventing HIB.
FMS is a POSITIVE BEHAVIOR INTERVENTION AND
SUPPORT (PBIS) School, whose mission is to inspire students
social, emotional, and academic success, to create and maintain
an effective learning environment and build a positive and
respectful culture for all.

• Lessons on Empowerment -don’t become a target of bullying
• Student of the Month- Positive Behavior Support (PBS) in
conjunction with Harassment, Intimidation & Bullying (HIB)
❖ Discussion on individuality: differences make us so special.
❖ Compliment Your Classmates Activity: write a nice sentence about every student.
Each student should end up with lots of compliments that can be glued together and taken home
❖ Student Activity: list of what they like about themselves- I AM… Mirror Activity: Students list 5 compliments about themselves. Practice saying them out loud in a real mirror at home.

Ongoing Activities
Bucket Filler Shout Outs: “Shout-out” cards provided by homeroom teachers. Students can write about someone who they think is a great friend and has filled their buckets. Can be anonymous. Cards are dropped in the teal crate located by the hermit crab tank in the main hallway.
❖ Throughout the year, Ms. Meyer will be choosing some of the cards to reach each day over the loud speaker during announcements
