Setting

The whole scene is set in the evening.Lou and Sam are sitting in the car and it’s raining outside.

LightingThe scene has a very realistic lighting, because it should seem as natural as possible. You can also see the streetlights in the back and it seems as if there was no light added. But when you think about it you notice that there has to be added light because the scene is set in the night and you would not be able to see the actors.

CameraThe camera angle is not tilted during the whole scene. At the beginning of the scene we have a shot/ reverse shot. This shows that they are in a conversation and connects the characters. The shots move from her to his perspective all the time.

Page 6: Stuck in love

CameraThen there is a medium shot from behind them and you see them getting closer. This gives the audience the feeling that they are sitting on the back seat. Most of the shots are close ups with shows the intimacy.

Depth of field

The focus is on the characters and you can’t see what’s going on outside of the car (selected focus). The background is kind of blurred through the rain.

Sound

They use diegetic sound in this scene, because the characters can really hear it. The rain is used as a background noise. The focus in sound is the conversation and the song. (Between the bars ) priority

What is good about this scene?

I like the scene because of its romantic atmosphere. It’s presented very natural and as a teenage girl you can easily connect with it.
