Critical space limitations in today’s high-speed, high-volume Internet and Corporate data centers have resulted in the need for integration of power delivery systems to the critical loads. L-3 Communications/Power Systems Group’ fault tolerant static transfer switch with an integrated power distribution unit (STS- PDU) provides uninterrupted power to vital loads while also transforming and distributing power at voltages required by the critical computers — all from a space-saving, small-footprint unit. The STS-PDU starts with L-3/Power Systems Group advanced technology and high reliability fault tolerant STS. It is able to automatically transfer critical loads from a primary power source to an alternate power source in less than 1/4 cycle, under any emergency condition — more than 16 times faster than the fast- est electromechanical switch. By making available one of two completely separate and redundant power sources to all critical loads, it is the ultimate power protection for even the most critical applications. This unit also provides for 480 volts to 208 volts (or any worldwide volt- age) transformation as required by most computer loads. Using the most recognized and utilized magnetics technology leader in the industry, the STS-PDU comes with two premium isolation/step down transformers from L-3/Power Magnetics. These are also available with optional harmonic cancella- tion features for high-harmonic content environments. The STS-PDU has been designed to be the smallest package available in the industry and does not require rear access. This feature alone saves thousands of square feet and space by eliminating a 3.5 foot aisle between the rear of the equipment and the walls. This system adds redundancy to your power delivery systems while sav- ing you valuable revenue-generating space.
