Different shapes of fibers have been incorporated to reinforce the concrete. The compressive, spit tensile and flexural strength of the concrete specimens are seen to be appreciably enhanced with inclusion of the steel fibers. Among various shapes of the fibers used, the spiral fiber gives the maximum strength. It is observed from the experimental investigation that, the compressive strength of light weight aggregate concrete decreases with increase in the percentage of fibers whereas the tensile strength is found to be increasing with the increase of fiber content. Key words: Flyash aggregate, lightweight concrete, steel fiber reinforcement.
