The Street Food revolution‘Street food’ is the ready to eat food from the street that has exploded in popularity in the past five years.

The street food craze has got everybody talking as it continues to revolutionise the British food industry,

but what makes street food so special?

1.Rola Wala

Runners up of the ‘Best Street Food’ award by Young British Foodies the company provide ‘ Twisted Indian street food’ to it’s customers.

The founder, Mark Wright describes the the food as ‘Mouth watering Indian spiced fillings laden with fresh salads and bursting with

flavour, sharp pickles, herbs and greens, fresh chutneys, and crunch’.

2. Holy Pierogi

The company’s Founder Alice describes the food as ‘A modern interpretation of traditional Polish street food.’ A ‘Pierogi’ is a traditional

polish dumpling which you will find on her menu modernised with ingredients such as honey roasted sweet potato, sour cream, red onion,

tyme and goats cheese.

3. Manjit’s Kitchen

Progressing from a street food trolley in 2010, the married couple provide ‘ Proper Indian vegetarian food’. They explain that ‘ The things

that were lacking in the rest of the food world were answered through street food, with it being cheap, affordable and most importantly

really good food’.

4. Bangwok

Speaking to company founder Dong, who moved 8 years ago from Thailand, he described his food as ‘ authentic thai food but while

mixing two cultures together’. His 100% vegan pad thai is a customer favourite, offering 2 types of tofu and rice noodles in an array

of dishes on offer.

5. Donostia Social Club

The pop up restaurant serve a basque cuisine which is ‘ a unique fusion of the best of Northern Spain and French cuisine combined’.

On the menu you can find delightful tapas using ingredients such as frogious, braised pork, scallops and a variety of meats and

cheeses.

6. Pho

Vietnamese street food franchise Pho specialise in pho, the Vietnamese national dish which is ‘an amazingly tasty and nutritious

noodle soup’. Founders Stephen and Juliette fell in love with Vietnamese food after travelling there and have since set up over 13

locations across the UK including Leeds and London.

7. Patti Smiths

Officially rated the second best burgers in Leeds, Patti Smiths provide american style street food The burgers are Cooked pink in the

middle and served in a brioche bun with an inspired cheese sauce, chipotle mayo, lettuce tomatoes and pickles. The renowned ‘Big

Ron’ gives you the option to double-up on your patty.

8. HaggisHaggis

The concept is ‘ traditional Scottish food done in a modern street food way’. They put the street food buzz down to ‘ the food being

more visible,a restaurant is all behind the scenes, street food is vibrant and active’. The traders recommend the ‘ Haggis neeps and

tatties' as the dish to try.

9. Dogtown

After attending festivals and being disappointed with the lack of good quality food, founders of Dogtown decided to revolutionise the

hot dog concept. The crowd pleaser is the ‘ Chilli-cheese dog’ which is pork or beef with bone marrow chilli, sour cream and coriander

in a bun.

10. Doughboys

Serving pizza by the slice the chefs describe the food as ‘Neapolitan style pizza inspired by all things Portland and Naples’. The pizzas

include vibrant creations such as the ‘ Baa no more’ comprised of middle eastern ground spiced lamb, pine nuts, pomegranate, pecorino

and baby red chard.
