Whether this was through activities within our Olweus Bully Prevention Program, classroom exchanges, or random acts of kindness, we strove to build a community of caring and responsible learners. Growing a spirit of personal responsibility, along with an awareness of being a productive member of a team, are important life long skills for every learner. What better way to fill a child’s “bucket”! Our efforts in this endeavor would not have been as productive, if it hadn’t been for our amazing PTA Officers, Committee Chairs, and Volunteers! Your investment of time and planning lend a special flair to every event for our students and staff. Over the course of the year, your generosity provided resources for our classrooms, supports to our teachers, and opportunities for our students. I look forward to continuing our productive working relationship in the year to come! From the bottom of my heart, I say, “THANK YOU!” To our families “graduating” from Streams, I wish you well, as your journey continues on to Boyce. Remember that we love to hear about the accomplishments of our former students and welcome them to stop back to volunteer, or just to visit. This connection can help to fill our buckets and theirs! I want to express my appreciation to the dedicated staff at Streams. This year we were joined by a number of long term substitutes, who stepped in to fill the shoes of our teachers on leave. I am so appreciative of the jobs that they did, in conjunction with our regular staff members, fostering a learning environment for all children. No one epitomizes the idea of a “bucket filler” more than Mrs. Trau. I am sure that you join with me in wishing her a joyful retirement. Her devotion to children, infusing joy into the library and growing a love of reading, has created a lasting legacy for Streams School. Tweaking noses, putting kids in the trash can, or showing up for birthday celebrations are among her famous antics, keeping everyone on their toes. Streams School is a richer place because of her dedication to each individual child. As summer begins, I hope that all families will remember to carve out some time for supporting the habits of good learners reading, creative thinking, and inventive play. This type of summer activity is good for the mind and body! Feel free to drop me a friendly note about your exciting summer adventures! It is great fun to stay in touch over the summer! Enjoy a safe and happy summer! Sincerely, Dr. Miller

Principal’s Letter

Dear  Streams  Families,     Our  theme  this  year  focused  on  “Creating  Bucket  Fillers”. As  summer  begins,  I  hope  that  all  families  will  remember  to  carve  out  some  time  for  supporting  the  habits  of  good  learners-‐  reading,  creative  thinking,  and  inventive  play. Miller

President’s Co

President’s  Corner

Out  with  the  old…  Hello  Streams  Families,      Well,  faithful  constituents,  this  is  it.    My  final  newsletter  article,  I  want  to  say  thank  you  for  everything  you  all  have  done  throughout  this  school  year.    We  were  able  to  work  together  to  raise  money  for  some  “extras”  for  our  kids’  education  and  share  in  some  fun-‐filled  family  events  that  our  kids  will  remember  for  years  to  come.    It  has  been  more  fun  than  I  thought  it  would  be,  so  I  can  look  back  with  happy  memories.    I  know  next  year  (with  Ann  Rhodes  as  your  esteemed  leader)  will  be  just  as  delightful  and  “fruitful.”    I  also  would  like  to  mention  that  while  this  is  my  final  newsletter  article,  it  is  not  my  final  plea  for  help.    April  Jackson  and  I  have  agreed  to  chair  Stravaganza  this  fall,  so  you  will  be  hearing  from  me  in  no  time!    Have  a  great  summer  and  see  you  in  August!      Christine  Vinay  Streams  PTA  (former)  President

In  with  the  new…    Hello  everyone!    My  name  is  Ann  Rhodes  and  I  will  be  the  PTA  president  starting  in  the  fall.  Well,  Christine  handed  me  a  gavel  a  few  weeks  ago,  so  technically  I  guess  my  term  starts  now!  We  had  a  nice  “turn-‐over”  lunch  where  many  people  have  already  committed  to  helping  next  year.  At  kindergarten  orientation  this  week  I  met  some  new  families  who  expressed  interest  in  helping  the  PTA  next  fall.  And  we  will  be  hosting  the  Kindergarten  Connection  soon  to  help  those  incoming  children  start  to  get  to  know  each  other.    So  even  though  school  is  winding  down,  the  PTA  is  still  hard  at  work!   I  want  to  thank  Christine  for  her  service  as  president  this  year.  Under  her  guidance  we  had  another  successful  year  of  fun,  fundraising  and  service  to  the  school.  Many  thanks  for  her  hard  work  and  humor  that  made  the  job  of  VP  very  fun.    She  leaves  big  shoes  to  fill!   I  wish  everyone  a  safe  and  happy  summer!  I  look  forward  to  working  with  everyone  in  the  fall!

Ann  Rhodes
