From pain points to opportunities: ActiFry and the french‐fry industry
• 2006– French fry makers were struggling to stand apart in a market that was shrinking 10% a year.
• Industry assumptions (pain points): to make french fries, you have to fry them; frying requires a lot of oil.
• Cooking oil is expensive, and dangerous when hot. Cleaning and disposing is difficult. Using so much oil is unhealthy and fattening.

From pain points to opportunities: integrating biology-based and conventional crop protection
PBN NOVEMBER 2019
• a new period of innovation (biologicals, inducible plant defenses, precision ag, real‐time scouting...)
• ongoing symbiosis in the crop protection market
• need for ideation, innovation and vision across the industry
EXECUTION:
• non‐competitive industry & academia collaboration
• integrating conventional, biological and technological solutions
• generating intellectual capital through external collaborations
