HAVE WE MADE OUR CONTRIBUTION?

The Public Service by virtue of its Name and Vision is not an employment agency; although it is where most of us earn our living and build our careers.

Beyond that it is our collective responsibility to deliver our part in the social contract; that is to contribute as expected by our employer – the Government.

In the past we use to look upon these issues as ‘other peoples’ job’, and not ours; if at all ours, it would be very ‘remote, form our hearts. However the current thinking is vastly different. Whatever problems or deficiencies faced by any sector are our “Direct Responsibilities”. I believe we have reached a maturity of realisation that we can no longer run away from “unpleasant issues”; rather we have to face them head on. Whether or not they are within our Department’s responsibilities is immaterial and irrelevant.
