    WHY A WORKSHOP ON STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP?More than ever be ore, organizations need strong, capable strategic leaders who canmotivate, coach, and inspire people to do strategic work that will help ensure theorganizations success over the long term. Contributors at all levels in the organizationlook to their leaders or direction and clues as to how the uture will un old and howthey can add distinctive value to the organizations success. In order to survive andthrive, organizations will have to navigate strategic shifs and develop new sources ocompetitive advantage or the rm. Tere ore, leaders have to increase their ocus andeffectiveness with the strategic work that has to be done to adapt to competitive pres-sures and uncover hidden opportunities.

    Leaders have a choice to make: they can look orward and take responsibility or stra-tegic opportunities and problems that will arise in the business environment, or theycan muddle through and hope that the uture will be kind. Hope is never a strategy.Leaders serve others and the organization best when they create strategic projects andplans, and then mobilize their resources towards proactively taking on the uture.

    For any organization to be strategically positioned, each unction, department, andperson will have to gure out how to align with, and support, the organizationsoverarching strategy. However, it is just as important that every leader create and exe-cute their own unique, stand-alone strategy to parallel with the business. Te strategieswithin the business will require ongoing review and discussion about emerging transi-tions, trans ormations, and all-out reinventions in the services, operations, processes,and the mind-sets o people to harvest strategic opportunities or navigate around thehazards that lay ahead.

    Te Strategic Leadership Workshop can be delivered in a one-, two-, and two-and-a-hal -day ormat. Te two-and-a-hal -day workshop ormat can be conducted at one o the greatest historic sites in the United States: theGettysburg Battleground.
