Yardages and Cutting WOF means width of fabric from selvage edge to selvage edge. Remove as little fabric as possible when trimming

selvage edges and squaring strip ends. 1 Susybee Buddies book panel, SB20056-830 To easily cut out each page, cut an 8" square from paper or cardstock. Draw a 1/2" frame around the inside. Cut out the center area, leaving a 7"- square opening in the frame. Place the frame on the wrong side of a page, positioning to keep all the words in the opening with no light brown outline showing. Lightly mark around the inside of the frame. Cut out the page 1/4" out from the marked line. • Fussy-cut (12) 7 1/2" page squares. 7/8 yard brown spots, SB20258-280 • 2 strips 7 1/2" x WOF; cut into (62) 1" x 7 1/2" strips. • 4 strips 1 1/2" x WOF; trim to (2) 38 1/2" and (2) 31 1/2" lengths for border. • 4 strips 2 1/4" x WOF for binding. 1/4 yard blue bees, SB20197-930 • 2 strips 2 1/2" x WOF; cut 1 strip into (1) 2 1/2" x 21" half-strip.

1/3 yard yellow swirls, SB20053-310 • 2 strips 2 1/2" x WOF; cut 1 strip into (1) 2 1/2" x 21" half-strip. • 1 strip 2 1/2" x WOF; cut into (10) 2 1/2" squares. 1/2 yard green scrolls, SB20103-830 • 2 strips 2 1/2" x WOF; cut 1 strip into (1) 2 1/2" x 21" half-strip. • 1 strip 2 1/2" x WOF; cut into (10) 2 1/2" squares. 1/8 yard white swirls, SB20053-101 • 3 strips 1" x WOF; cut 1 strip into (2) 1" x 21" half-strips. 1 1/2 yards buddies print, SB20058-930 (backing only) • 1 piece 39" x 48". Batting • 1 piece 39" x 48".

Piecing the Sashing Units Use a 1/4" seam allowance for all stitching. Press seams as directed.

1. Sew the 2 1/2" x WOF blue bees strip lengthwise between (2) 1" x WOF white strips. Press seams toward the

blue strip. Add the 2 1/2" x WOF yellow strip to 1 long side and the 2 1/2" x WOF green strip to the opposite long side to complete a 7 1/2"-wide strip set. Press seams toward the yellow and green strips. Repeat with half-strips to make a half-strip set. Crosscut the strip sets into (31) 1 1/2" segments. 1 1/2"

2. Stitch a 1" x 7 1/2" brown spots strip to opposite long sides of each segment to make (31) 2 1/2" x 7 1/2" sashing units. Press seams toward the brown strips.

Completing the Quilt

1. Sew the cover page and

pages 1 and 2 alternately together with 4 sashing units to make row 1, turning the sashing units to alternate yellow and green at the top as shown in the exploded quilt diagram. Press seams toward the sashing units to complete the 7 1/2" x 29 1/2" row.

2. Repeat step 1 with pages 4, 5 and 6 to make row 2, paying close attention to the placement of the yellow and green ends of the sashing units.

3. Repeat step 1 with pages 7, 8 and 9 to make row 3 and with pages 10 and 11 and the back cover to make row 4.

4. Stitch 3 sashing units alternately together with 2 each green and yellow 2 1/2" squares to make a 2 1/2" x 29 1/2" sashing row, placing the green squares at the yellow ends of the sashing units and the yellow squares at the green ends. Press seams toward the sashing units. Repeat to make 5 sashing rows.

5. Sew the page rows alternately together with the sashing rows to complete the 29 1/2" x 38 1/2" quilt center, turning the sashing rows to always place the yellow ends of the sashing units against green squares and the green ends against yellow squares. Press all seams toward the sashing rows.

6. Stitch the 1 1/2" x 38 1/2" brown spots strips to the long sides of the quilt center and the 1 1/2" x 31 1/2" strips to the top and bottom to complete the top. Press seams toward the strips.

7. Layer the quilt top with the backing and batting pieces. Quilt as desired and bind using your favorite methods and the brown spots binding strips to complete the quilt.
