The first scene on
the storyboard is a
green screen
which allows the
audience to view
the trailer legally
as its got no age
restrictions.
Here is a opening
scene of the
trailer which will
last maximum of
3 seconds to allow
the audience to
get a rough
understand of
where is it based
The house is in an
isolated house
which is rather
gloomy and big.
Typical in horror
genre.
The camera tracks
Casey walking in the
door with the boxes
to unpack as they
have just moved in a
new house.
We will also be using a over the shoulder shot which will show a bigger picture of the surrounding
Handheld shot
will be used to
give the viewer
a detailed view
of the house.
Here we will use long
shot which shows
Casey feeling
uncomfortable at her
grandma’s picture
which was not placed
in the box. Despite
the fact the camera
will focus on the
character the
surrounding emerge
in.. Short dialogues so it
doesn't seems like a
silent movie yet very
snappy to allow
understanding of the
plot.
This is a short
scene of the
company that we
are associated with
for our trailer. To
make it more
effective we will
had music in the
background.
High/Aeriel
shot to establish
her distress. It
puts the
audience in a
godlike position
to be looking
down on the
action.
In this scene Casey is
moving about as she
is having the terrible
nightmares of her
death. With editing we
will show cross
cutting of her dream
and reality which
clash.
Here is a black
screen with this
title which is very
quick and
effective as
audience are
distracted by the
words and crave
the sense to find
out more.
Casey suddenly
wakes up from
her nightmare
that she has had.
The sound of her
heartbeat and
having breathing
is played in the
background for
the audience to
feel empathy for
her.
A med shot
showing the details
of her express
which is uses to
express her fear.
This is an effective
shot because the
audience are aware
of the location
therefore here can
focus more on
Casey.
A close up shot
of her texting,
magnifying the
phone to
emphasis its
significance. A voice over in
the background
will tell the
audience of her
thoughts she was
feeling after her
nightmare.
The description: ‘last
night I had this dream,
I felt like I was gonna
die.’ shows that she
was very disturbed by
her dream.
Again a long shot ,
showing Casey alone
in her room.
Voyeurism theory can
be applied here as she
will be dressed in her
night dress.
Over the shoulder
shot where Casey
is talking to her
boyfriend of all
the nightmares
she been having.
Casey is alone
watching TV and all
of a sudden the TV
cuts off and with that
the door slams. The
audience are not
going to be aware
that this scene will be
approaching so that
this can give the
audience a sense of
scary and a jumpy
scene
The door slams due to
the wind but Casey will
assume that this
happened to an
unknown figure and due
to her bizarre
nightmares.
The sound playing here would be
of door slamming and the TV
cutting off. However this scene
will be a longer one compared to
the others.
Cross of the same
surrounding but with two
different camera angles
are used. One is a mid
shot of a phone on the
table and second a close
up of the phone which
has a message ‘RUN’.
Having a close emphasis
on the object to show its
important.
Again suspense will
be built here to why
the message ‘run’
has been
emphasised .
a mid shot of Casey
who has a dream about
her being stabbed. Also
known as a social shot
which helps the
audience have a feel
of Casey’s feeling.
A shot set in
dark setting,
increasing
tension. There
will be
screaming and
heavy breathing
as Casey is
scared.
A rhetorical question is
very effective again on a
black screen which
leaves the audience
wondering. This scene will last only
a few second as trailer
have quickly snappy
shots to keep the
audience engaged.
Casey walks in the
bathroom and looks
in the mirror there is
a hand print on her
neck but no figure in
the mirror.
Throughout the
trailer the audience
will get the sense that
her boyfriend is
behind the cause for
her trouble but in the
end scene her
boyfriend gets killed
as well.
Male gaze
theory can be
applied here as
the camera
shots invaded
Casey privacy.
Dramatic music will be
playing in the background as
the tension as built up to the
max in the last scene.
